We have three breeds of goats right now and are planning on adding a fourth one this year. They are Navajo Angoras, Nigoras and Nigerian Dairy Goats. The breed we are thinking about is the Boer goat for meat.
Our first goats were three Navajo Angoras (a doe and her two wethered sons) and a grade Nigora doe. The following year we got a Navajo Angora buck and a third wether. The Navajo Angoras were gotten to be weedeaters, that is where our slogan comes from.
We added the Nigerian does last spring for milk and to breed to the Nigora buck, to start our own line of Nigoras. We also got a small angora doe and a Nigerian buck for that reason as well. We are still working on starting that line of goats.
We will keep a line of pure Nigerians as well, since we have fallen in love with the breed. They are a small, active breed of goat and are very well suited to the climate here in the desert southwest.
