You decide that you'd like to meet Andante. You see his trail winding off into the forest, and you follow it, wondering what sort of creature you'll find.
After several minutes of walking, you come upon a few small trees surrounding a nest. In that nest, among scattered eggshell, is a tiny, black hatchling dragon.
Contrary to the stereotype of younglings, this dragon eyes you indifferently, making no move to greet you. You notice nervously that it already has large white claws, more than capable of harming you. Swallowing hard, you say, "hello, little one."
The dragon lifts its head, acknowledging your presence. It rises and paces to the edge of its nest before slipping, snake-like, over the edge. Greetings, large one, it says, its voice echoing in your mind.
You tremble slightly, seeing those white talons glisten in the sun. "H-he-hello," you reply, gulping.
Suddenly, the little dragon bursts into hysterics. GOTCHA! it cries, howling with glee. Oh, that was PRICELESS!
Slightly indignant, you interrupt. "Hello to you too," you say shortly.
Ooh, oh, oh.... Oh, it says apologetically. Dinnen't mean to hurt your feelings, there. I'm sorry.
You shrug nonchalantly. "It's okay," you say.
Good, the dragon says, 'cause THAT was GREAT! Sniggering, the baby changes the subject. I'm Andante, yaknow. Ams adopted me from an agency that recently closed down. I hatched about a month ago. Since then, I've had a great life here. Whoo, it's fun in the forest realm! All of the adult creatures are really nice to us babies. Amora's my best friend, too.
"It sounds like you have a lot of fun here," you say, smiling.
Yeah! Andante says cheerily. Now, go meet the big people. They're really nice, and they might let you chew on their tails! Laughing, Andante bounds off into the forest.
Though you're slightly iffy about the whole tail-chewing bit, you return to the signpost lighthearted and eager to explore.
