You decide to meet Flisk. You see that his path leads into the depths of the ocean, so you prepare your diving gear, and jump in.
You locate markers signifying Flisk's trail, and you follow them, gliding effortlessly through the water with your flippers. The path is long, but fairly straight and easy to follow, so you go quite quickly.
Soon, however, the going gets tougher. There are some strange currents above, beneath and around you, but the path guides you safely. You still can't help but notice them, or the fact that you are now on a steadily downward spiral.
As you continue, the water begins to grow hot, and the seaweed and rocks took on a red-orange tint. Turning around, you see the reason: a massive, erupting underwater volcano. However, it is far away, and you assume that you could get away quickly should you need to.
After a few more minutes of swimming the path abruptly stops. You are on a ridge overlooking the volcano, and it's almost beautiful, the way that red bursts into blue and chaos insues. You watch for a while, until you get the strange feeling that you are no longer alone. You slowly turn around, and find yourself staring into two green, glowing eyes.
The creature is the color of the lava, and its movements reflect that of the countless flows that criss-cross the valley below. It could have emerged from the volcano itself, with a mane of ashes and a belly of fire.
What business brings you to Mt. Flisk? the creature asks, its voice like the hiss of something burning.
"Mt. Flisk?" you ask nervously, stepping slowly back from the horrible vision. "T-t-this is Mt. Flisk? And...you're Flisk?"
Yes, Flisk hisses. This is the place, and I am he. I will ask again; what business brings you to Mt. Flisk?
"Oh," you say quickly, "I'm exploring Dracogrex, of course, and I just thought it'd be interesting to meet you."
Flisk pauses, then relaxes and smiles faintly. Good, he says. Sorry about my previous behavior. If Amaryllis trusted you enough to allow you free reign in her realms, then you pose no threat to me or my creatures.
"Your...creatures?" you ask curiously. You cannot help but be relieved that Flisk is not going to kill you, but you're still wary.
My subjects, Flisk clarifies. At your confusion, he continues. Which came first, Flisk or Mt. Flisk? Flisk came first. This volcano is the centerpiece of my marine kingdom. The fish and other animals here brave the lava that comes every once and a while for fair, just leadership. And they get it, I assure you, the serpent finishes, lifting his head with pride.
"...Wow," you say, not sure how else to respond. "This is pretty amazing," you finish, looking out at the red seas.
Thank you, Flisk purrs. Go explore now, he says firmly. There's a lot of realm to explore and not enough time. Enjoy yourself.
"Thank you," you reply, watching Flisk float away from you, toward the lava. You can see him almost blend in with the firey stuff, and you swim away before you are faced with any danger.
