Species Name: Capsicum annuum var annuum. Color: Green maturing to bright red. Shape: Narrow, curved. Description: Not very flavorful but often used for extra heat in dishes or sauces. Tannic, smoky, acidic flavor. Scoville Heat Units: 15,000 – 30,000 Other Names: Alfilerillo, Bravo, Cola de Rata, Cuauhchilli, Ginnie Peppers, Pico de Pájaro Related Cultivars: None that I know of. Most Commonly Grown In: Jalisco, Central Valley of Mexico "De Arbol" means "tree-like". Not often used fresh, but found dried, packaged in many stores. |
