This good old salt of the earth boy is actually one of the military's best men. He was sent to Sunnydale University to pose as a teacher's aid. Riley is in love with Buffy. He even disobeyed a direct order to help her and her friends.
Anya is an ex-vegenge demon. She is going out with Xander akthough sometimes his friends irk her. Even though she is really old she hasn't picked up on a lot of human concepts, such as tact.
Joyce moved Buffy to Sunnydale after her and her husband got a divorce. She runs an art gallery. Joyce thought that her daughter was getting in with a bad crowd in L.A. but then she found out about Buffy being the slayer. She didn't take this very well and kicked Buffy out. Joyce has come to accept her daughter's calling.
Faith IS the bad seed. She fled to Sunnydale after she injured an ancient vampire. She tried the good slayer thing for a while but decided it was more fun to be bad. She tried to kill Buffy and her friends. She even killed an innocent man. After waking from the coma Buffy put her in she went to settle the score. After she went to kill Angel. When trying to do this she realized how wrong she was and gave herself up.
Wesley was a newly recruited watcher from England. He didn't know what he was doing. The council fired him and he became a rogue demon hunter. Now he works for Angel and has pretty much grown as a person.
