Spike came to Sunnydale with his love Drusilla. He was having fun terrorizing the town until Angel joined them. He helped Buffy kill Angel in exchange for her letting him and Dru leave. After that Dru left him. Being so heartbroken he went back to Sunnydale to find a way to make Dru come back to him.
Spike came back to Sunnydale with his new girlfriend Harmony (Cordelia's sheep) so that he could find a relic that would make him basically indestructable. He was captured by the iniative and had a "neutering chip" installed in his head. After that he was totally helpless. He was forced to take turns staying in between Giles' and Xander's house.
