I have always had a soft spot for the Fair Organ, visting Steam Rallies that are held up and down the Country. It is always a joy to hear the sound of these beautiful instruments coming across the field, combined with the smell of hot oil, smoke and steam from the mighty, Traction Engines, it's magic.
Whether your riding the Gallopers, or just strolling around the field, there is always the sound of the Organ to complete the picture, a Rally just would not be the same without them.
I would spend much time listening to the Organs, one by one, noting in turn how each had it's own ditinctive sound. Watching the card or paper roll, going through the mechanism, to create the music, was always fascinating.
I always thought, how wonderful it would be to own one of these splendid instruments, for as long as I can remember. But like most people, the cost of buying one was way beyond my means; these large Organs can cost many thousands of pounds. But all is not lost. In recent years, there has been a great revival of interest in the smaller Organ, also known as Busker or Street Organs. These smaller Organs, although not having the same sound volume as there bigger brothers, can never the less, hold there own on the Rally field or in the Town Street.
The one big advantage is the cost, much less than the big Organs, so that we can all have the pleasure of owning and operating an Organ. 20 note Organs, shown on this site are capable of playing a wide selection of music, from sing-a-long, to more serious pieces, it surprises many people just how much volume these Organs produce.
Mt dream came true of owning an Organ recently, quite by accident, when answering an advertisement for a 20 note Organ for sale. After some correspondence with the maker, I purchased the Organ and I was delighted, when the Organ arrived. The sound and finish, was excellent and I thought that other people should know about this master craftsman's work.
This craftsman, Mr. Vasile Cocolos who lives in Bucharest, Romania, kindly gave me permission to act on bis behalf to offer these Organs. We are very grateful to Mr. Cocolos to allow us to do this and we are proud to be associated with these excellent Organs, that Vasile makes. I am sure, that looking through the pages of this site, that you will agree with me, the fine quality of his work.
Whilst you are looking through the site, please also take a look at the Drink Truck Page, also made by this versetile crafsman.
