Dark and Quiet

I said, “Let’s go to the park.”

You said, “Too much work to do, go!”

I said, “The sun is up, the day is warm.”

You said, “Too much work. Go on, waste your time.”

I said, “It is not my time. There is a play on the green.”

You said, “Tomorrow, I’ll have time to waste.”

I have seen the gifts of the Creator.

In a child’s face, it is there.

I have seen the glories on the Creatrix.

Under the Heaven lit skies, it is there.

I have heard the Mother’s lullaby.

In the laugh of a babbling brook, it is there.

You say, “It is now tomorrow.”

I know. But, the grave is too dark and quiet.
