Yet Another History of SatanSatan Herself, and other Left-handed Gods |
Lucifer is a Roman god. A night hunter, he hunts down ignorance, capturing it just before dawn, and announcing his triumph at the break of day. They say that it is he who brought enlightenment to humanity. When the Church was rendering the Hebrew testament from the Greek, Lucifer seemed a good translation for Heilel [![]()

] in Isaiah 14.12 as both represent the same idea. The Name Lucifer means Light (lux) bearer (ferus). Heilel means Brightness or Morning Star (this last is a eulogy for the Christ).

Set is an Egyptian God who embodies the archetype of the Left-hand path. He breaks boundaries, shatters accepted rules, and is not concerned about popularity. While the Egyptian people were free to think for themselves, Set was at the head of the divine Ennead. When the priests suppressed free thought, they enticed the people to think mostly of the time after their death, and Osiris became the head of the divine Ennead. Yet even then, it is Set who makes it possible for Osiris to be the Judge at the End of the World.

When the Olympian Gods had destroyed the Titans (who would soon be reborn as gods, themselves) they took the pieces left over and started to make things. They were just about finished when they made humanity out of the left overs. This left us weak and without weapons. The gods did not care, and even laughed at our pitiful condition. Prometheus (a titan) looked kindly upon us, and asked Zeus to at least grant us his divine fire, so that we would have a chance. Zeus refused to share, so Prometheus stole the fire and brought forbidden enlightenment to us. Humanity then become like the gods able to will, change our environment, and create. In payment, Prometheus was chained to a rock, where his liver was eaten by a vulture daily. It was Xiron (another titan) who took pity on Prometheus, passing his immortal energy to Prometheus so that Prometheus could escape, and Xiron could die.

The Asir, and their allies the Vanir, are always at war with the Jotuns (giants), elemental forces that always seem ready to destroy all the Asir have created1. On one occation they had won (they always won by the skin of their teeth, tells a better tale). They got back to Valhalla and started to drink and recalled all their adventures. Like many a fish tale, the high story became better with the telling than the live drama ever could have been. Loki, being who he is, entertained the Asir with the true version, where many a victory was more of a happy accident than a deliberate act. So, they have hated Loki because he tells the truth, no matter how much it will hurt. By way of reward, Loki is now chained to a rock (bondage, again) under a serpent whose poison drips into Lokis immortal face.
1. Like Marduk, the Asir created the world, and all that is in it, from the body of Ymir, their divine ancestor.

I truly believe that if Jesus of Nazareth were alive today, he too would be a Satanist, or about as close as one can get without adopting the label. It is believed that Jesus of Nazareth was a Cynic, a group of Prophets or aesthetic Spiritualists of classical Greece and areas under her influence (such as Galilee). They were influential between the 5th Century bce to the 6th Century ce. Social philosophers, they were antinomian critics of oppressive social and legal forms. Some endured public life renunciation. Some offered thoughtful Critique via parresia in high places. Some provided high levels of literary composition espousing the cynic paradigm. The cynic valued the virtue of autarcheia (self-sufficiency). Much of this describes the modern Satanic movement, and reflects his teaching as found in Quell.

In the beginning, Allâh formed humanity and saw how excellent his work was. In his artistic joy, Allâh called his angels together and ordered them to bow and worship the humans.
Iblîs refused, feeling that Allâh alone deserved such honor. Caught between his hurt ego for an order disobeyed, and a glowing ego for the act of loyalty, Allâhs punishment reflects a compromise. Iblîs was cast out of Allâhs presence for disobedience. He was then given the task of testing each human heart for that same sense of loyalty toward Allâh.
Though Muslims may blame Iblîs for their sins and indiscretions, he is only a mirror. He only shows us what is already within us.

The peacock was considered a symbol of the sun because he spreads his feathers out into a halo of rays, and a symbol of the devil because of his pride. The Yezidis call him Tausi-Melek (black peacock) or Shaitan (Arabic for Satan). The Yezidis envision Tausi-Melek as a fire with two dualistic elementary abilities; fire as light, but also fire to burn. Yezidis believe good and the evil are one and the same Person. Yezidis contend a human being itself a mixture of two powers: good and evil. Every Yezidi has a part of Tausi-Melek in himself. (Research contributed by John Allee.
