I'm here seeking some companionship, virtual and/or real. I'm, honestly, looking for more members of the KYfurs group, and, potentially, excellent individuals to be close friends.

I do a lot of different things, so I'll make a brief list of interests and "stuff":

~~~ Furry ~~~

- KYfurs (Kentucky Furs) -

I help run the group, although I've retired from being an "admin" as such. This is because I care about the members of the group, and you may be included in that if you care to be.

- My Character -

My character is, essentially, me, with wings, scales, horns, a tail and a few other modifications to allow him to fly. This is to say, he has my build, and is, generally, simply a few (deeper than simply cosmetic) modifications away from me.

He is a dark grey draconian with a pair of red rams' horns. He is built like a Sivak, but much smaller, and somewhat less monstrous.

~~~ Education/learning ~~~

- Working on my PhD. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UK -

Simple version:
"I work with computers, math and biology. I like all of the above."

More elaborate:
I work, primarily, with systems biology and statistical analysis of transcriptional gene arrays (i.e. microarrays). If you know about bioinformatics and/or molecular biology, please let me know.

I also know a little bit about biochemistry, being a pharmaceutical sciences major. This stuff IS my job, and most of my life is consumed with it, but I'll try not to bore you with it if you spend time with me.

I do, for the record, love my job.

- Poetry and writing -

I really enjoy writing... although I'm still not a talented writer. I especially enjoy writing poetry, and have actually had some poetry published in little school journals.

I also really enjoy story-telling, although I don't have many interesting stories to tell. Although I often ask if I feel this way simply because of a lack of self-esteem.

- Perpetual learning -

"When you stop learning you begin to decay." - Asimov (?)

I'm always trying to learn, so feel free to tell me something that I didn't know before.

- Basic Stuff -

Height: ~5'10"
Weight: ~145lbs
Eyes: Hazel/Green
Hair: Brown and curly (and very hairy)
- Martial arts -

I have a huge interest in the martial arts. I practice Shaolin-Do primarily, but really enjoy cross-training in other styles... and yes, I will spar with you, if you'd like, although I'm usually very careful not to hurt others.

I also have an interest in ground-fighting, a la jiu-jitsu and/or judo. They are of the UTMOST importance in learning how to fight.

- DDR -

I enjoy DDR, although I'm not particularly talented at it, and look like a clumsy oaf while playing.

I can beat 8-footers on occasion.

- Weight lifting -

I enjoy lifting weights, sometimes. It's just another form of exercise for me, though, and I'm fairly certain I'll never be a massive body-builder... but I am, and will probably be for a while, fairly well put together, bodily.

~~~ Spiritual ~~~

- Buddhism -

I take a special interest in Buddhism, since it's intimately linked to the martial arts, but, more, because its principles of non-attachment have lead me out of depression and helped me attain a better perspective on my actions and my own motivations.

I will, periodically, call myself a Buddhist. However, I am (and recognize that I am) a particularly poor Buddhist. I eat meat. I don't meditate as often or as long as I'd like to.

Buddhism has helped me, but it's still not me.

- Existentialism -

It asked me the best question I've ever faced, "Why does the reasonable man not commit suicide?"

This, of course, is prefaced with a long explanation of the place of a life, and its actions in the universe. We are, after all, specks in the cosmos, and our actions are less than eddies in the waters of time.

My answer lies in the people that I "love" (I have a VERY particular definition of the word) and I'll leave it at that. Sometimes I question this answer though.

~~~ A bit of miscellany ~~~

- I've always lived here in Kentucky. Some of my closest childhood friends turned out as furs, interestingly.

- I have been a band-y (specifically trumpet) and a big video-gamer in the past, and still have the trappings thereof.

- I'm devoted, selfless, kind, thoughtful, mature, and wise when the urge hits me.

- I can also be egotistical, cold and an emotional vampire when I'm doing badly.

- My best traits are encouraged by stable relations with people, and my worst traits are brought out by chaos and uncertainty.

- I am constantly faithful and loyal. This is the case almost regardless of any insult. One has to really try to make me mad. This can give an impression of patience.

- I'm an intellectual elitist... but this elitism can be overcome with kindness, and patience.
