Hi, I was ICQing you to inform you that requiring an ICQ number before posting is a foolish idea, if one is unable to hide their ICQ number. There are many unblockable ICQ network worms such as Dedler2.AL and W32.parasite. Anyone looking at these boards can easily transmit such a virus without any users knowing. If anything, you should provide a hide ICQ option, and set up a message delivery system linked up with ICQ to automatically send messages. Otherwise, you are making it appear that you are attempting to mine data/ICQ numbers to fund your site, which is WRONG... I hope you can look at this issue soon, you are exposing hundreds of computers to heavily undesireable viruses and worms. Mine has already taken a blow from several, and even with the most up to date firewalls, dedler is able to get around them. I hope youll look into this. |

Do not use Tradespot. Your whole theory is ludicrous and false and I prefer you do not use my site. |
|
|
Just a FYI, there are 10k active users on Tradespot and never any issues of any kind. If you are having problems its your computers security that you need to be concentrating on. |

actually, while you state many of your users have no problems, query a few at random to see if any are having problems with their computers of unknown origin. Have them use the Mcaffee trial version, and see how many turn up with similar worms. You'll be suprised. Many people don't know how open ICQ leaves a computer, but apparantly you are in that crowd. |

You are very illiterate about internet security. I suggest you to take some classes on it than come back and try to reexplain this afterwards. |

I suggest you don't tell someone who has been programming for several years that they are illiterate about computer security. Take a nice google look at the flaws ICQ leaves open. Afterwards, take a look at the programs that can access open ICQ ports. |

Those wanting to send you virus do it thru mass ICQ distribution NOT thru getting numbers one at a time off a message board. |

And you are stating it is hard to fetch ICQ numbers off of a message board? |

look at how foolish that comment is. You're talking about a video game with many immature hackers and virus creators. Do you think noone has thought of such a method? |

If anything, you are probably responsible indirectly for the loss and scamming of many goods. |

ROFL... Get a life and do not use my boards. Most scammed are scammed because they trust someone in game and get burned. The other large portion is from them selling to the Russian hacker using hacked paypal accounts and them not being responsible enough to check out there buyer and make the phone call. In the many years I have dealt and helped those hacked and scammed its always been something they have done like open an email and click a link or accept a file they shouldnt have etc. |

and I wonder how that personal information was retrieved. A messenging system without showing ICQ numbers would probably cut scamming by over 50%. Its ridiculous you call yourself professional, OR that you say you are against scamming when you are one of the main sources of it. |

ICQ isn't everything, and it sure as hell isn't secure. Maybe some day youll be forced to learn the hard way, all though I hope for your sake you don't have to. The way you spell tells me you haven't gone through too many educational courses yourself, and that is just an observation. Maybe you should take internet security training, or network administration training, youll learn a lot. That is a TRUE professional recommendation. Hopefully you'll learn, but I'm assuming you won't. It's just sad you won't take advice that could help the people on your forums, rather than selling out your users. There is no real reason you need ICQ for verification publicly, and no reason at all that you shouldn't make it optional. I feel sorry for your many users in the future that will suffer from scamming :( |
