As we all know, Kain left Baron after the events of FF4 on a quest to become a better person and a "true" dragoon. Well the last RPG started off with Kain living a vagabond's life ( ie like Ryouga of Ranma 1/2 ) when Morryigan Eblan ran through his campsite. It is then Kain learns that Queen Rosa was kidnapped and that Baron was in an uproar looking for her. The person who kidnapped her was apparently some homicidal maniac by the name of Kain ( T_T meanie vampyreslayer_faith ). Morryigan asks for his help in finding the man and Kain accepts the offer and tells her that his name is Claude Alexander as he wants to find out who is out to ruin his name. Of course though, Morryigan already suspects that Claude is the Kain she is looking for.

After meeting many intriguing characters, the world seemed to change faster than anyone could expect.

MAIN HIGHLIGHTS ( sorta in order )

1) A distraught and grief stricken Cecil slaps a bounty on all dragoons and goes on a hunt for his former best friend.
2) Apparently Rosa was sold to slavers by Morryigan who set up Kain!
3) It seems during Kain's trial at Ordeals, he was split into 2 people.
4) Kain and the other dragoons wandered the world to avoid Cecil's wrath and tried to find out what was going on to clear their names.
5) Eventually some of the truth comes out but unfortunately Kain died in battle against himself at Ordeals.
6) Golbez returned from the Moon to assist his brother!
7) Zemus returns and Klu Ya is assisting him?!
8) Kain was actually thrown into the future (FF6) where he has no memory and with the help of Edgar he learns more about what happened to the others still in the past.
9) Rosa eventually manages to escape and meets up with more interesting characters on her journey to get back to Cecil and Baron.
10) In the Underworld, Cecil was forced to kill someone and it is revealed that he can use his Dark Knight skills again!
11) Baron Castle, Baron City and everyone who was there at the time were all destroyed in a violent attack.
12) Cecil eventually finds Rosa - but she was with another man! The shock and the emotional build up of past events caused Cecil to lose sanity and attempt suicide. Cecil, Mana (Kain's adopted sister) and Golbez are thrown into the future as well to meet up with the Mysidian twins, Kain and everyone else who was thrown into the future.
13) In the future, loose ends are cleared up - the elimination of the second Kain, Golbez becoming more human, Cecil trying to repent his actions etc.
14) The Figaro twins get sent to the past with everyone and they help in the final battle.
15) Cecil hasn't regained his total sanity and betrays everyone to Zemus.
16) In Baron Castle, Kain tries to reason with Cecil in hopes of getting his best friend back to the way he was only to be duped and murdered by Cecil. Cecil then commits suicide.
17) Zemus is destroyed by the Mysidian and Figaro Twins, Golbez, Garret and Mana.

Now that peace seemingly has set in, everyone is trying to lead normal lives and rebuild Baron Castle.
Kain and Cecil did not revive and there is no one left in Baron but the knights, Rosa, Cid and Golbez.
