Runic could feel the energy from the both of them flowing through
him. It felt different when Rosa began to heal him. It was much
different than when Tilanya alone was healing him. Runic slowely
reached up and grasped their hands. He could feel the wound as it
began to heal. Their powers alone could not heal the wound
completely, the cut was too deep.

After he had enought strength to sit himself up, the two girls
helped him into the room he used to stay in when he first came to
Baron. He did not recognize the room right away. It seemed to have
not been touched since the last time he had visited. It had been so
long since him and Alex first came to Baron.

'...Alex...' he thought to himself before he drifted off to sleep.

Eric soon rejoined Chrissa and Incentus at the bar of the
Inn. "Alright, did you book us a room?" the young man asked, sitting
down with them.
"Yes, the innkeeper wasn't the most gracious of people though,"
Chrissa muttered.
"Well, don't worry about that. We'll be heading to the mountain in
a few moments." Eric said, ordering a drink.
".. In a few moments? But what about the room?" Chrissa blinked.
Eric simply chuckled at first, downing his drink in one gulp.
"I thought you were the one worried about people following us." he
winked.
Amazement shot to Chrissa's face. Her own brother, the silly fool
that he was, had actually set up a strategic plan to confuse
followers into thinking they were staying there?
"Alright, let's go!" Eric finished up, hopping off the barstool.
Chrissa and Incentus were quickly at his side, hurrying off as well.
"Did we bring some tents for the trip? I hear the mountain is
pretty far..." Chrissa frowned.
"I brought some, but we're not using any til we get there." Eric
said. "That man earlier, he said that Baron is in need of a paladin.
I'm not sure exactly his role in things, but that might be a
warning."

And so the trio left the city of Mysidia into the woods of.... um...
Mysidia, they guess.

Carasha grimaced. There didn't seem to be anyone of importance at
the castle for the moment. It was right now as she was heading
towards the gates she was stopped by Edward.
"Carasha, have you seen Rosa?" the prince asked, looking somewhat
concerned.
"Not since the battle. So I take it she's not back yet?" the ninja
took her usual crossed-armed stance.
Edward shook his head. "I thought she would be back by-- Oh there
they are.."
It was then that her highness, Queen Rosa, and the Summoner,
Tilanya, were bringing in a wounded Runic. Realizing the urgency,
the two quickly followed them up to the room. "What happened? Is
there something we can do to help?!" Edward quickly asked, though
not sure how to help the two great healers.
Carasha stayed more silent to the back. She had no healing
abilities whatsoever, so had no real idea what to do.

~Tilanya~

Once Runic was in the bed and asleep, which didn't take long at all,
Tilanya turned to Edward, her face and voice were quite calm, almost
void of caring for the injured man, and responded.
"The man is either a foolhardy warrior slaying imps or was
unfortunate enough to get ambushed by them. But at least he won the
battle, for no imps were chasing him when he arrived. I do believe
he will be fine now that Rosa and myself have healed a good extent of
the wound, though it would be a good idea to get fresh bandages and
warm water to cleanse the cut." She noted, before letting her gaze
fall upon Rosa once more.
Tilanya was quite surprised at the energy that Rosa had
channelled through her spell, the sheer power had almost caused
Tilayna to loose her concentration, though her voice remained cold
and calm as she spoke. "Thank you for your time your majesty, I
shall return soon after the sun breaks over the eastern horizon
tommorow morning. But for now, I must go home and rest, lest I be
weary tommorow." She said, before bowing low before Rosa. Instinct
told Tilanya to warp from the room, for that added touch of elegance
and power, but she felt it best to walk, conserve energy. And walk
she did, right out of the castle.
Once outisde, she channeled her energies once again to summon a
chocobo, for the wild one Runic had brought had long since run off.
Climbing atop the bird, the two were soon fast on their way to her
cabin, passing the slain imps, one with a good deal of blood upon his
jagged blade. She saw the wounds that Runic's blade had made, and
they were placed quite well upon the imp that lay lifeless upon the
cold ground. Reaching her cabin, she saw the rolling fog was soon to
encompass her small dwelling, this thought disturbing her slightly,
though she knew not why. Releasing the chocobo back to it's home
world, she entered the one room building and quickly found her way to
the bed, not even bothering to take off her robes.

((Mist?))

Rosa was surprised that both of their powers could not heal the
wound completely. She was tempted to try a stronger spell, but
thought it would be better to wait until she had a chance to have
the wound cleaned and examined. For now, her and Tilanya moved Runic
from outside to his room inside the castle. As they began to move
him, she heard King Edward and Carasha come up behind them to follow
them to the room. Edward immediately asked what had happened, as
Runic drifted off to sleep.

Rosa took a seat as Tilanya explained what happened. She was
watching the summoner closer trying to gather something about her
personality based off what she was saying. Rosa felt a chill caused
by the coldness in the woman's voice.

'Why didn't I notice that before? And how could she speak so harshly
of Runic? She doesn't even know who he is...I hope I didn't make a
mistake by letting her into Baron.'

Rosa reflected on her actions and grew a bit weary. She was being
careless, as queens go. She didn't know much about the summoner, but
had agreed so readily to let her be a part of their forces. Rosa
quickly tried to hide her distress as Tilanya spoke to her in the
same cold voice.

<"Thank you for your time your majesty, I shall return soon after
the sun breaks over the eastern horizon tommorow morning. But for
now, I must go home and rest, lest I be weary tommorow.">

With that, she walked out and Rosa blinked in surpise at her abrupt
departure. Turning towards the door of the room, she ordered a guard
to hurry and bring some bandages, warm water, and other healing
supplies she would need. She was going to wash and dress the wound
herself to see why it wasn't healing with her spells. She looked
towards Edward and Carasha again.

"If you are willing to help me take off his shirt so I can dress his
wound that would be a great help."

She wasn't sure if she should ask this next question, but she
figured she should try and gather some information while she could.

"How much do you two know about Tilanya?"

The guard had returned by this point, and Rosa began to set the
supplies on a table near the bed. She looked down at Runic and
smiled slightly.

'I wonder what he had been doing out there...'

Edward also watched as Tilanya left the room. There didn't seem to
be much personality to that woman, as she spoke with no fire or
life. But he turned his attention back to Runic while Rosa ordered
the guard to get bandages. The wounds were deep by the looks of it.
They had to be, if Rosa herself couldn't heal them. At least the man
was asleep, instead of moaning in pain. It's so much more disturbing
when they do that, but they look somewhat in peace when asleep.

~~"If you are willing to help me take off his shirt so I can dress
his wound, that would be a great help."~~

"Of course." Edward said, beckoning Carasha to help him. The ninja
sat the man up, while the king removed the garment. They then laid
him back down.

~~"How much do you two know about Tilanya?"~~

Rosa's question caught Edward off guard. "Tilanya? No more than
you, if not less." he shrugged. He, as well as the others, had
thought Rydia was the last of the summoners.
"Tilanya..." Carasha interuppted, her thoughts more put
together. "What I know are simple facts. She's a summoner. A strong
one, although not as strong as my queen. She seems to take great
pride in her power, and has the utmost confidience of it. She may
overestimate herself though. It's hard to say yet. She knows dark
magic, as well as light magic, and judges people very quickly."
Edward smirked, surprised by all the ninja had to say. "I'd say you
knew her address by now."
".. I could follow her if I wanted to know." a slight trace of
humor was in that last comment.

Rosa was glad that she had Edward and Carasha's help with the
bandages. She was suddenly feeling really tired. Being queen wasn't
all it was cracked up to be, and it was hard trying to be strong all
the time by herself. After they were done dressing the wounds, she
listened to what the others had to say about Tilanya.

<"Tilanya? No more than you, if not less.">

'That isn't very helpful...'

<"What I know are simple facts. She's a summoner. A strong one,

'Simple facts are more information then I have...'

<"... I could follow her if I wanted to know.">

'Following her...that would be a good way to get more
information...but could I ask that of Carasha?'

Rosa was tempted to follow-up on that suggestion and was about to
ask it as a favor when Runic woke up.

"Could you..."

<"...Hello m'lady. Aside from the pain, I'm glad to see you here.
Thank you as well good sir, I would like to repay the favor
someday.">

"It's good to see you up Runic!"

Rosa moved towards the door and motioned as guard to come near.

"Please bring some soup and drink for Runic."

She came back to the side of Runic's bed.

"What happened?"

Runic sat up as he began to eat the food the guard had brought him.
"I don't remember too much... I was going to the forest to find a
Black Chocobo. I don't remember if I found it before or after I was
ambushed though. Three or more imps came at me."
He had a lost look to him... He struggled to remember, but his
memory had been so foggy lately.
"Anyway, I don't really remember much after that, then I woke up
here."

He finished his meal and set the tray aside on the table, then sat
himself up and turned so he was sitting on the side of the bed. Then
to Rosa and Edwards suprise, he stood up, as if he had no injury.
Runic gazed down at the bandages around his arm and shoulder. With a
curious look on his face, he lifted the bandage to see what injury
lie underneath. He then tore the bandages off, for there were no
sign of any injury. It was like it healed in the short amount of
time that Runic had woken up and eaten. It's almost as if he wounds
heal very slowely when he is asleep and very quickly when he is
awake...

"What's with the bandage?"

Edward turned to Runic, smiling and nodding to the wounded
man. "You're certainly welcome. Just doing what any other moral man
would do."
"Hey.. hate to cause bad vibes in here, but I still exist." Carasha
frowned, when Rosa had cut off speaking to her, and Runic hadn't
noticed the fact she was there. "And why do we need to know what
happened? He was attacked by imps. Big deal."
"Well, sometimes details ARE important." Edward sighed, shaking his
head to listen to Runic. After the man was done explaining, he
suddenly stood up, tearing off the bandages.

~~"What's with the bandage?"~~

"Oh my--" Edward started.
".. Isn't that a question you ask BEFORE you take it off?" Carasha
grimaced, stepping up. She took hold of his arm, inspecting it
closely. "Funny, maybe your spell had a delay effect, Queen Rosa."
she shrugged. "He looks just fine now.
"But the spell doesn't delay like that usually.. And that was a
bloody mess just moments ago!" Edward persisted. "That isn't right."

"There it is! Mt. Ordeals!" Eric smiled, pointing his own sword
ahead towards their destination.
"You said that when we saw it a mile away." Chrissa sighed, putting
her pack down. "We reached the base, you said we can rest now."
"..Yeah, I guess I did. Couldn't we keep going though?" Eric
pleaded.
"Eric, not all of us have the same stamina as you. I'd like to
rest." Chrissa pulled out a tent, which expanded upon tossing it to
the ground.
"Okay, but we're going to reach the summit tomorrow." Eric said.

He sat on the edge of the cliff looking down below. Picking up a
rock, he tossed it below hoping to hit the tent on the ground below
even if it was a long shot.

"You really lack of patience don't you? Or is it that you are bored?"

He laughed a merciless laugh. "I'll give that Dark Knight a run for

Garret was playing with a sharp dagger and occassionally stabbing a
crudely made stuffed doll that looked like Golbez.

"Jerk! Jerk! Jerk! Bastard! Bastard! Bastard! Everything was just
great until you came!" Garret muttered in his room. "'Oh Golbez! I
just love you. You're so sweet and kind and oh so dreamy!'" He said
in a mock impression of a female voice. Garret stabbed the doll so
hard, the dagger when through the wooden desk that the doll was
laying on. "I won't allow it...I won't allow him to have
you...You're mine...now and forever..." Garret didn't bother to take
out the dagger impaling the Golbez doll. He just got up, left his
room and slammed his door. He wandered the halls of Baron Castle and
found the royals making a fuss over that Runic guy. Garret decided
to peep in and over hear what was said. It might be important
information to relay to *him*. The dragoon boy just leaned against
the wall beside the door and listen in.

'Maybe it's just something in the air.'

"If you will all excuse me, I need to talk to Garret about Baron's

She nodded her head at them hoping no one would take offense about

"And, thank you both for your help. *turns toward Runic* And you

She quickly left to catch up with Garret.

"Wait. I think we should talk about the castle's defenses. I don't

She left the sentence hanging in the air.

~Tilanya~

Tilanya's eyelids fluttered slightly before rising to an alert
position, the old woman quickly sitting up. It took her a few
moments to regain her bearings, sleep still desperately clinging to
her mind. Looking around the room, she saw that the fog had enclosed
the small cabin since she fell asleep, and one couldn't see but a
foot out the window if lucky. Looking to see where the candle was,
she estimated it to be around one in the morning, the flame at the
base of the puddle of wax that formed upon a table near a corner.

Getting to her feet, Tilanya reached for her staff, green eyes
darting to either of the two windows in the building, halfway
expecting something nasty to leap into the dwelling. It was then
that she chided herself for such unfounded fears, aloud though no one
could hear her. Well, she believes no one could hear, anyway, she
could be wrong.

"Tilanya Silvanas, you have slept several nights in this cabin, been
through many patches of fog like this. Why now do you reach for your
staff, like a security blanket!" She said aloud, trying to shame
herself into acting proper. But no matter what she said, she just
didn't feel comfortable unless her staff was within her grasp, and
she didn't know why.

((I don't know if the fog is just a normal fog or something else. If
normal fog, then I'll just RP her as having unnatural fear. But if
it is magical in nature, PG to have Tilanya notice something

Garret closed his eyes briefly and wondered if he should tell Rosa
his worries about the fog since it had gotten thicker and thicker as
every moment passed.

He impulsively grabbed Rosa's hand, lead her to the armoury to grab
weapons before heading out of the castle. He motioned for some
guards to follow them.

Just outside the castle and city limits the fog was much thicker
like a wall. You could not see beyond it at all.

"Okay men, stay on your guard," said Garret.

Some of the soldiers were confused. "Sir, it's just fog...It will
clear up in a few days..."

Garret then walked into the wall of fog.

The soldiers and Queen waited...and waited... and waited.

"Commander Garret?" one soldier shouted as Garret did not come back
after a long while.

Suddenly Garret was running up to them from behind. "That stupid
thing sent me to the opposite side of the castle!" he said while
panting. He then dove into the fog again only to reappear running up
to the group from behind again after a while.

Garret caught his breath. "I think we are trapped in Baron..."

"Edward!" Rydia called, quickly running up to the
Damcyan king's side, "It's terrible!"

When she caught up, she paused a moment to catch her
breath. "The whole castle's been surrounded in a
thick fog," she explained hastily, "Edge is still out
there trying to think of a way to get out."

She paused, realizing what she just said, and giggled,
"My husband actually thinking? What was I saying?"

-----

Indeed, Edge stood up on an outer battlement, glaring
angrily at the fog. He'd tried using the Flame
technique to disperse the fog, but the mist seemed to
eat the fire like hot peppers. Now, he was getting
extremely annoyed, and the hot-tempered Edge wasn't a
good person to annoy.

-----

Golbez stood at the top floor of a tower near the
center of Baron Castle. The mist around him was thick
with magic; he could feel it crawling across his skin.
He needed to find out just what they could do in
this fog.

The sorcerer descended the tower and walked up to some
guards on duty. The guards immediately snapped to
attention.

"Three of you, go out into the fog," he ordered, "See
if you can reach Baron City. Then, report back to me
with news of your success or failure."

He waited until the guards took off before going
elsewhere to find a place to observe the mist.

~Tilanya~

Try as she might, Tilanya could not close her eyes to sleep. Lying
there upon the soft down, she staired through the nearest window,
though nothing could be distinguished in the heavy cloud that sat
outside. With a halfway exasperated sigh, she once again rose from
the bed and went about cleaning herself and changing into a different
robe.

Twenty minutes later, she sat by a roaring fire, a cup of hot tea
infront of her, and a book about legendary summons, hoping to find
mention of the creature she had seen earlier in the day. However,
her mind could not focus upon the words written, despite the cozy
surroundings. A chill crept up her spine, despite the warm fire, and
she found herself eventually staring at the fog once more through a
window.

"I have had enough." She whispered harshly, grabbing her staff and
made her way to the door. Without flinching, the elder summoner
flung the door wide open, coming face to face with the milky white
substance. She would later regret that decision.

The invading gas flooded her small cabin almost instantly, the force
almost knocking her from her feet, smothering the fire, and sending a
wet chill into her face. Her anger and annoyance at herself were
quickly replaced by alarm as the magical energies rippled across her
skin. Reaching out to shut her door, and block out the intrusive
mist, she discovered it was no longer there, nor was her cabin.

Normal people would have begun to panic, and the thought of screaming
did cross Tilanya's mind, but she did not. Silently taking a hold of
her staff, and luckily still having a few provisions on her, she
started walking, trying to find out where she was. This didn't take
long, however, as she almost ran over two Baronian guards also in the
fog, sent by Golbez to investigate.

((PG to have the guards lead Tilanya back to the castle.))

Garret growled like a wild beast startling the soldiers with him. It
looked like he threw something at the fog only to have it sent back
at him knocking him down.

"Well even as a wind demon I can't break this wall with
wind...Someone knew what they were doing..." Garret muttered.

*****

Mana rubbed her hands over the fire in the cave. Amasa had been gone
most of the day. How long had she been here in the mountains? She
had lost track of time. She was worried about the people of Baron.
There was a chill in her very being that something dreadful was
going to happen.

Just then Amasa walked in. "I can't see anything of Baron at all."

They walked outside and Amasa handed Mana a pair of binnoculars and
pointed in the direction of the barrier of fog in the distance.

Mana gasped.

"So it is magic then," Amasa confirmed.

"What is going on?" Mana was in wide eyed shock.

"I think we should go back and find out."

Mana nodded her agreement.

*****

Garret could feel the ground shaking. "Earthquake?" He looked
frantically around. It was hard to see if anything would fall on top
of them. Suddenly the sound of an explosion ripped through the air.
The dragoon boy covered his ears. "Oh man, my ears are going to be
ringing come tomorrow morning...Find the source of that explosion!"

Garret followed Rosa around to make sure no harm came to her.

"Sir!" A dragoon came running towards him after a while. "The grave
site of the King and Captain..."

Garret blinked in disbelief. "No..."

The dragoon nodded reluctantly. "It has been defiled. Their bodies
are gone and there is a small crater where their graves were..."

Rosa let Garrent grab her hand and lead her out of the castle. The
chill from the fog seeped through her white dress and cape. She
pulled it closer as Garret told the men to stay on their guard.

'I am so glad he seems to know what he is doing...'

Rosa felt an urge to touch the fog because it seemed so solid, as if
it were a wall, but she refrained from it.

'There could be danger out there...'

She watched as Garret walked into the fog. It felt like years were
going by as she waited. Suddenly, she heard footsteps from behind
her. She raised her hands ready to send out a magical attack. The
fog cleared aside as Garret emerged.

"Didn't you go out that way?"

Rosa pointed in front of her.

<"That stupid thing sent me to the opposite side of the castle!">

Rosa smiled at the strangeness of it all. It was a little funny,
after all, watching Garret run through the fog and emerge behind her.

<"I think we are trapped in Baron...">

The smile left Rosa's face immediately.

"Impossible! There must be something wrong. Baron is fortified
against this type of magic. Let me try walking through the fog."

Before anyone could advise against Rosa's rash impluse, she raced
into the fog. It surrounded her and encirlced her throat. She felt
like she was choking.

'Calm your breathing. You were trained for this type of magic.'

She held out her hand and let a flame light in her palm. She held
her hand out as if it were a candle. She walked aimlessly not
knowing where she was going.

'Maybe I should try another spell.'

Suddenly the ground shook and Rosa lost her concentration losing her
light. She balanced precariously, and then heard voices.

<"Sir! The grave site of the King and Captain...">

'What about the graves?' thought Rosa.

<"It has been defiled. Their bodies are gone and there is a small
crater where their graves were...">

Rosa felt her throat fill with a scream, but nothing was able to
come out. She reached for her throat as the fog pushed against her
body knowing that she was at a weakened state.

'My king...my husband...no...'

Her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she collasped into the
fog. It covered her body like a shallow grave. Her last thought
was 'Why?' as the darkness surrounded her.

"Rosa!" Garret yelled out as the Queen disappeared. He then turned
around to find his men falling to the ground one by one even though
they were trying to resist with all their might.

The dragoon boy soon too found he could not resist. He fell to his
knees. He doubt Golbez could resist either. This fog was not normal
magic...It escaped the normal boundries...

"Mana...help me...I'm so sorry...Rosa..." and then Garret too, fell
to the ground.

****

Cecil giggled as he pinched Rosa's nose. Rosa would wake up in bed
with Cecil smiling down at her.

"Good morning honey," he said with a bright smile.

****

Garret suddenly woke up in his bed with the sun shining directly
into his face. He could feel someone snuggling up to him.

"Good morning Garret!" Mana said cheerfully.

Garret was so shocked he fell out of bed.

****

Mana smiled as she kissed a sleeping Golbez. "Are you planning on
sleeping in on our anniversary dearest?" she whispered in his ear
while trying to muffle a giggle.

"Mommy!" a little girl burst into the room.

"Shh!" Mana held her finger to her lips. "I think your daddy wants
to sleep in today Aurora."

The little girl tilted her head. "Daddy can sleep in? Wow! He never
does that mommy!"

Mana giggled. "Are you ready for your camping trip with your uncles
and aunties?"

The little girl nodded. "Cedric is still packing. I think Uncle
Cecil scolded him for being unorganized. We're going to have lots of
fun." Aurora went up and kissed her mom and dad. "Bye bye Mommy and
Daddy! You have fun on your trip too!" she said before running off.

****
The other people of Baron were not so lucky to have wonderful
dreams. They were tormented with fighting monsters at every corner
they ran to. Their deepest fears all came true in their foggy sleep.

Golbez frowned deeply. Something was wrong. Cecil
was dead and Mana missing. He was not married to her,
nor did he have children, let alone children with her.
Should he resist...?

No, he thought, it would be better to play along.
Whatever caused this, if he lured them into falling
for the vision, maybe he would find clues.

After the girl -- his daughter, he guessed -- left,
the sorcerer sat up in bed and reached out to Mana.
"I would rather enjoy our anniversary with my beloved
than sleep the whole day away."

~Tilanya~

The two guards that she found, or had found her depending on who's
eyes you view, readily accepted to lead her back to the castle. The
trip was silent, Tilanya getting the distinct impression that the
guards thought her responsible for the wall in which they now
walked.

A short time passed, Tilanya wasn't sure how long, when the fog
seemed to thicken around her and the guards. The guards collapsed to
the ground coughing, clutching their throats before conciousness left
them. Tilanya fell to her knees, using her clothes like a mask
trying to keep the foul magic from taking her as well, though it
seemed inevitable. But Tilanya wasn't the sort of woman to go out
without a fight.

A part of her worried that if she used her spells within the fog that
it would become stronger, hence the reason she walked and not rode
upon the chocobo, but now there was no other way. Summoning all her
remaining magic, the warm energy flowed through her body and out her
fingers. She had assumed that who or whatever created this fog had
protected it against flame, because that is what she would do. But
Tilanya had one trick up her sleeve that might aide her now.

"Dragon of Mist, hear my call and deliver me from this field!" She
shouted into the milky white surroundings, summoning the ancient
protector of mist that had so often aided her in the past.

((Whoever controls the mist has permission to say her plan works and
saves her or if it doesn't. To Be Continued...))

"Garret!" Mana was shocked as Garret tumbled out of bed. "Are you
all right?"

Garret wrapped the sheets around him as he realized he was in his
birthday suit. "Wha..what are you doing in my room? In my bed?!"

Mana giggled. "Silly Garret! Did you forget? We're married! Did you
hit your head too hard when you fell?"

Garret thanked what ever god was listening that at least Mana was
wearing somthing although very, very thin. He could feel a nosebleed
coming. Getting up and dressing quickly he sat beside his "wife" on
the bed taking in her confused look. "What about Golbez?"

"Golbez who?"

"You know, Golbez - Cecil's brother...?"

Mana frowned. "You mean that nasty man that hurt Kain and tried to
take over the world? What about him? Good thing he's far away. I
know a lot of people who would like to rip him into shreads, myself
included! After all he did!"

Garret raised an eyebrow. "So you aren't in love with him?"

"Why in the 9 Hells would I be in love with someone like him?"

Garret chuckled. "No reason," he said as he sat behind her rubbing
her neck and shoulders. "I'm sorry I ever said anything of that
sort," he muttered as he kissed her neck.

"Mmm-hmm..." Mana acknowledge while enjoying her husband's touch.

Suddenly Garret snapped her neck. Mana's dead body fell forward into
the bed. He looked up at no one in particular and said: "Never ever
impersonate the person I love..."

The scene faded and Garret was on his knees in full armour in the
fog once again. He sighed.

"Why did you give up the chance to have the perfect life? The life
you wanted?" a voice asked him.

"I want my Mana to truely love me, not some illusion. My Mana loves
Golbez more than anyone. I think even more than her past love..."

****

Mana had caught Golbez's deep frown. When he reached out to her, she
was slightly worried. "Did I say something wrong?" Mana hesitantly
kissed him due to her worry. "Don't worry dear, I promise I will
make it up to you over and over many times."

There was a knock on the door and Kain peeked his head in. "Hey have
you guys..." He saw Golbez holding Mana and he shuddered a
bit. "Nasty image go away," he muttered. "Have you guys seen Aurora?
I thought I saw her in this wing."

"Aurora-chan! You in here? This is no time to play hide and seek!"
a little boy that resembled Cecil also popped into the room.

Mana just smiled. "You just missed Aurora. She just left."

Kain sighed. "Cecil and your husband are the same. Dumping me with
the kids while you guys go off and..." Kain shuddered again.

Mana stuck her tongue out. "When you get married and have children,
we'll return the favour."

Kain scoffed as he lead Cedric out.

Mana quickly got out of bed, washed up and got out of her night
clothes into something more presentable for noblity. She then
bounced back into bed wrapping her arms around Golbez from
behind. "I found this nice vacation spot that has a hot spring you
can relax and melt into. Even after Cecil made you Ambassador, you
still are too tense. You need to enjoy life and relax more dearest.
This is a golden age of peace for all nations...

****
"Silly summoner...did she think that it was just my power alone that
made the mist?" a shadowed hand tore into the air as he watched. The
Mist Dragon was shreadded and absorbed into the fog giving it more
power.

****
Amasa and Mana were standing just outside of Baron's borders.

Mana held her head. "Something...is familiar about this...I just
can't..."

Amasa removed his bandanna and whipped it out, making it straight
and hard like a sword. "Be on your guard. This thing looks like it
got stronger suddenly."

"Who would do something like this?"

"....."

"..... Don't apologize. I realize as a ninja, I'm rather
unnoticable, but work on your observation skills." Carasha tossed
back some hair, turning towards the window. The fog was becoming
quite thick. They would have to be on extra guard for assault.
Edward sighed. That ninja had no social skills whatsoever, and a
knack to boost her ego.
Rosa had left to speak with the dragoon that had been outside.
Carasha didn't pay too much mind, however. She really didn't like
that guy anyhow.
However, Queen Rydia of Eblan quickly came into the room, heading
straight to Edward.

~~"The whole castle's been surrounded in a thick fog," she explained
hastily, "Edge is still out there trying to think of a way to get
out."~~

Edward cocked his head a little in confusion. "I would think going
in a straight line might help."
"I'm sure his majesty thought of that." Carasha quickly cut in,
looking back outside. ".... This fog isn't natural. It was too dry
earlier to have a fog like this. I'll look into it."

With that she quickly disappeared out the window. The fog was
thicker than she had thought, as she almost couldn't tell where she
was landing. But she managed to touch ground without any
embaressment, as she quickly reached the gate where she remembered
it being.
She watched as the dragoon, Garret, left and suddenly came back
from behind. Her eyes widened as she realized what was going on.
<This is definitely a trap. I'll bet Kluya has something to do with
this...> Carasha narrowed her glance and looked about, as if he
might already be in their presence. <I better check... on... Mana.>

Carasha coughed a bit, disrupting her thoughts. Something seemed to
be in the air. It felt like it was closing around her neck, draining
the air out of her. <Wait.. maybe.... this... isn't.... fog....> she
grabbed onto the wall for support. Suddenly everything was growing
darker around her, as she hit the ground.

Edward wasn't in much better shape. The fog penetrated into the
castle, knocking out many of the others as well.

-------------------

"Alright Eric, we're ready to go." Chrissa finished disposing of
the tent, coming up to her brother. Eric was staring up at the
mountain with a frown. "Something wrong?"
"... No. It's just... I wanted to do this for so long. Now that I'm
here.... I have a bad feeling." he shook his head.
Chrissa grimaced, but then put on a reassuring hand on his
shoulder. "We can go back if you want."
Eric quickly shook his head. ".. I have an even worse feeling about
that. It's not that I'm scared. I'm just not sure what lies ahead."

So the trio of Incentus, Chrissa, and Eric started up the mountain.
Incentus extingished the fire at the entrance with an ice spell as
they started the long climb.

-----------------

<Fire... By Odin, why do I see fire?>
Carasha found herself standing at the gates of Eblan castle, as
fire fumed out from the battlements and towers. <Eblan...? What am I
doing at Eblan...? And what's going on?!> She quickly rushed into
the gates, whereas fire monsters surrounded people, slaying soldiers
and ninjas down, and burning the castle. <This is just like when
Rubicant attacked.... Wait, it's exactly the same!> she quickly drew
out the samurai sword that was on her back, looking over it. A blade
she hadn't laid her eyes on in several years. Her eyes looked down
at herself. Carasha wasn't wearing her usual attire. Rather, it
seemed like everything had gone back to that day the castle was
destroyed.
"Girl, move!!!" a voice shouted. Carasha turned to see a bomb
rushing towards her. Expertly taking the sword in hand, Carasha
leapt forward, slashing the creature in half. with an explosion.
The man, a ninja dressed dark enough to blend in with night, came
up to her. "You best be out of here and let the men take over. A
powerful man named Rubicant has--! HEY!"
Carasha dashed quickly for the quarters paying no attention to the
man. If things are just like the past, then she had to prevent
something.. Something terrible!

--------------

"Anna?" Edward couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was indeed
Anna, with the long red hair, and soft yellow dress.... covered in
blood. The wounds suffered at the death of the woman still remained
on her, even an arrow or two sticking out. She did not carry herself
like the dead, though, standing straight up and just staring at
Edward.
"Anna, what's going on...?" he looked about. It was dark,
everywhere he looked. "Am.... am I dead?"
"Depends..." Anna started. "Do you feel pain when your dead?"

~Tilanya~

Tilanya summoned the great beast forth, and for a brief moment, it's
cooling gentle mist surrounded her, letting her breath once more.
However, whatever force was behind this fog was much stronger, as the
mist dragon was quickly enveloped into the choking fog. Moments
later, unable to breath, Tilanya fell to the ground next to the
baronian soldiers.

She couldn't remember if it was hours or seconds that had past when
she woke, but when she did the sun was shining brightly upon the
village mist. Getting her bearings, she realized she was already
standing up, and more strangely even, was that she was in the village
mist, before the great fire and earthquake. The town itself had been
hung with various celebratory banners and flags, for their 176th
annivisary. She couldn't believe it.

"Tilanya, time for meditation is over, the battle begins shorty." An
elderly voice behind her said, startling her. Turning to see who it
was, she was again shocked as her brother, Argon, who died during the
earthquake, stood alive and well before her. "This could be your
chance to be high summoner for the town, as I'm sure you already
know. Let's go."

Wordlessly, she retraced the steps she had taken so long ago, heading
into the town square. Her eyes wandered to the crown, people she
grew up with, sparred with on several occasions, who had perished
during the catastrophe that befell Mist. A shock of green hair in
the crowd caught her attention, as she saw a very young Rydia, still
in diapers, toddling to her mother's side with glee.

As the town council took their seats and began speaking, Tilanya
remembered to herself what had happend on this day long ago.
Confident in her magic she flung herself into the fight, pouring all
her magic into the high summoner, a man by the name of Randall
Tri'amos, and failed miserably. At every spell she cast, every
monster summoned, he had something to counter. She ended up
bedridden for two weeks due to her injury, while he didn't even get a
scratch on him. It was the single most humiliating defeat she had
ever suffered.

"If I get to do this again....I'm going to do this right." She
silently whispered to herself as she was challenged by Randall...

Ryuu was tugging on Ken's arm like a child. "Come on! Don't be a
party pooper! You boring old bitty! The show has to go on. You're
being unprofessional!" the red head whined.

Ken glared at him. "Look, something happened to Mana and Garret. I
know it. I don't feel like playing tonight. Those fan girls can find
another night to scream my ears to deaf."

Ryuu sighed. "You worry too much. Look, that dream I had was scary,
but it won't happen for a while. Mana and the others can take care
of a little nightmare." Ryuu then giggled. "I bet Garret or Golbez
is probably having a naughty dream about her too," the red hed said
while playfully poking Ken.

That was the last straw for the dark guitarist. He chased Ryuu
around and Ryuu eventually tricked him to running onto the stage in
front of all the screaming fans. Ken gave Ryuu a death glare yet
again before being handed his guitar. He started playing while
scrambling in his mind to find lyrics.

****

Amasa and Mana jumped up to see if they could get a better view of
Baron. They couldn't get it. Mana held her hands together tightly.
She was worried. "Rosa, she wasn't in the best of health...and what
about Garret? If he doesn't eat lots, he'll fall! And Golbez...!"

Amasa growled at the mention of Golbez's name causing Mana to
flinch. He closed his eyes and scratched the back of his
head. "Look, I know you are worried about him but he is a man and
can take care of himself. And if he gets himself killed, oh well."
Amasa opened his eyes and saw no sign of Mana but the tell tale sign
that she walked into the fog. Letting out an aggrivated sigh, he
declared, "That dummy!" as he also walked into it.

****
Ken finally remembered what he wanted to sing much to the fans'
pleasure...

(We are at war tonight. Will there be angels whispering to me good
night?)
****
Mana was having slight trouble breathing in the thick fog. It seemed
as if it recognized her and started to concentrate on her.
"Golbez! Garret! Rosa! Anyone? Please answer me! Please?"
The dragoon girl was really upset at what Amasa had said about
Golbez getting killed and not caring. Tears started to fall from her
eyes. "He's not like that...he's not like that at all..."

(My heart for you is true, let no one take that away from you...)

Mana heard foot steps coming from behind her. She turned around and
smiled. "Golbez! You're okay! I am so glad!" She leaped into his
arms feeling total relief seeing that he was all right. She wrapped
her arms around him so tightly. "We have to find the others and make
sure they are all right..."

(Time is running tight, I can't change wrong to right)

Golbez just patted her on the head and then his hand trailed down,
stroking her hair as if just observing her without a care. Mana
noticed the strange action and looked up into his eyes. She could
feel her soul freezing.

"Ha ha, looks like you have a willing beautiful pet Master," said a
blonde Captain of the Guard walking up.

"Baigan!!!" Mana's eyes went wide. "It can't be! You're dead!"

"Oh? When did I die and who killed me?"

Mana was going to reply but when she tried to remember, no memory
came up of such an event. She tried to back away but Golbez had
grabbed her wrists in a tight grip in his right hand. The dragoon
girl started to panic. She had to warn Kain and Cecil about this man
that Rosa had told her about. This man was pulling the strings of
the Baron government. "No, let me go!" she cried out as she
struggled. This man was inhumanly strong!

"Why should he let such a catch go? You threw yourself at him. So
rare to have such a willing pet! Ha ha ha!"

Mana glared at him. "You're nothing Baigan! How dare you betray
everyone like this!"

Baigan just smirked at her. "You have a lot of spirit; just like a
Highwind. I loved it when Kain screamed. I'm sure the master will
find another way to make you scream though."

Mana's eyes widened. They had Kain already! "What did you do to my
brother? Leave him alone!"

Garret wandered around lost in the fog. He was trying to find Rosa
but had no such luck. He thought he heard Mana's voice ahead and ran
towards it. He saw her struggling in Golbez's grip and behind him
was..."Baigan! You son of a - You're dead this time!" he said as he
drew out his sword charging towards the blonde captain. "Mana, get
away from here now!"

Mana was shocked when she saw Garret charging towards them. She
jumped and thrust both of her feet against Golbez's chest. He let go
of her hands but was quick to grab her left ankle so she fell to the
ground instead. Her wrists and ankle hurt so much.

"You are a very bothersome little girl are you not?" Golbez said in
a very cold voice. "I will enjoy breaking you by any means." Mana
shuddered as she tried desperately to get away. Garret saw she was
having trouble and tried to bring his sword down on Golbez's wrist
to cut his hand off.

(So I close my eyes and dream a little. It's time to say good bye.
There's no need to cry or feel sorrow.)

Golbez blocked the sword with his other hand with ease while Garret
was using whatever strength he had left to bring it down. Baigan
took this chance to impale Garret.

"GARRET!!!" Mana screamed.

"Dammit Mana, just run! I promise I will catch up later."

Mana started to kick with more vigor and finally managed to make
Golbez let go of her. She ran as fast as she could just to get away
from Golbez. The girl had never seen such heartless eyes before in
her life. A voice in the back of her mind told her something wasn't
right but she was just so scared and tired to listen to it! She
fell to her hands and knees crying and panting.

(Only you can stop the rain tonight...only you can change my world
from black to white...only you can give me the strength to fight...)

Golbez tossed Garret's sword aside causing the boy to lose his
balance and fall to the ground. He walked off in a brisk manner in
the direction that Mana ran to. Baigan however, had fun kicking
Garret while he was down.

"Even if you are just a bad memory, you're still ever so much a
jerk," Garret said as he quickly drove his sword into Baigan's
stomach then jumped up, cutting the former Captain of the Royal
guard neatly in half from the waist up. Blood sprayed all over
Garret as he landed and pulled out Baigan's sword from his own
body. "I always wanted to do that. It was too bad that Cecil got to
you first. I would've made you suffer for what you and your cousin
did to Mana all those years ago. You pathetic excuses for men!"
Garret then slowly walked after where Golbez was headed.

(The sky is burning...it's the end of time...What would I do without
you?)

Mana was on her back. She couldn't hold her body up any more. She
could barely breathe in this fog. It was then Golbez's figure became
more clear and was walking towards her. She started to crawl
backwards in fear. Something was wrong. Why couldn't she bring
herself to hurt this man? Why did she run into his arms so willingly
before? Why was she so afraid? Why couldn't she fight back? She
tried to think but every thought of hers conflicted each other.
Golbez made some curious passes in the air with his hand and Mana
started to scream. Her hands gripped the ground as she suffered pain
she had never felt before. She kept on screaming until she couldn't
scream any more but even so, the pain did not go away and she was
left with a silent scream.

"Why don't you take your holy dagger and kill this man?" a male
voice asked.

'I - I can't kill the man I love in fear and hate...' was the last
thought in her mind before everything went black and her mind was
buried deep in the darkness.

(Every breath of mine, I'll hold you by my side...but I rest in
peace...my sweetheart...would you.....?)

Garret had managed to crawl towards Mana. Her eyes were half closed
but he could see that they were empty. Golbez watched with amusment.
Garret held his hand out and held Mana's with it gently yet
firmly. "Mana...? Please...not like this..." Tears fell down his
eyes and he couldn't see clearly any more. His hand caressed
hers. "Please Mana...it's only a bad dream honey..." His head was
starting to fog up from the loss of blood. Mana's nightmare was
stronger than his had been. He couldn't even will her nightmare
away. Golbez laughed mercilessly as he picked Mana up into his arms
and pulled her hand away from Garret's. "No...don't
you...dare...touch.....her...." he said before his body gave up on
him.

From a distance, Amasa could hear screams and a merciless laughter.

(Let me die in your arms with you....)

Golbez was an Ambassador? Oh, he was certain that
went over REALLY well after the whole Zeromus
escapade. Unless...

"It's hard to relax sometimes," he admitted, "People
know my past, and they are watching me because of it."

Maybe, just maybe he could get a little more
information from this "Mana." He knew the situation
wasn't right, but he also knew he had to find a way to
escape it.

*****

Fire burned everywhere. The girl could feel the heat
of the flames. Within a moment, she realized what was
going on. Baron Castle was ablaze.

She felt a chill despite the heat. This...It was just
like before. So many years ago, when the village of
Mist burned down. Tears welled up in her eyes as she
watched the flames eat at the castle.

You have the power to stop this, she realized, you're
stronger than you were before. You can do
something...

Reacting instantly, she called forth Leviathan...

(To be continued...I've gotta go away for a week, so
if you need to move Golbez, Rydia or Edge, go ahead
and do it, Kain.)

Pretty soon the coldness that had seeped into Rosa's body turned to
warmth. She pulled the covers closer around her body as someone
pinched her nose. She couldn't breathe. She sat up quickly in bed
swatting a hand away from her face.

<"Good morning honey.">

Again Rosa felt like she couldn't breathe. The world stopped and the
clock on her dressor ticked away slowly.

"Cecil...?"

Tears came to her eyes. He looked as handsome as ever. He was back
again to take away all the pain and hurt she felt inside.

"You cam back for me!!"

She hugged him and kissed him gratefully, tackling him to their bed.
She laid ontop of him and listened to his heart beat.

"We're not dead! It was all just a horrible dream. Don't ever leave
me again. I love you."

Rosa began to kiss every part of his face.

"And don't ever plug my nose again!! You know I hate that!"

She gave him a soft punch to his shoulder.

~Tilanya~

Before the catastrophe that struck the town, The Village Mist used to
have a summoner's circle in it's center, and it was here, in the
past, that Tilanya found herself, about to do battle with a familiar,
powerful opponent. As the elders began to chant a spell of safety
for the bystanders, Tilanya recollected the previous battle and the
effect it had on her life.

After the humiliating defeat, Tilanya worked harder and harder to
again entice him to a duel, travelling to distant lands in search of
ancient secrets that time lost. Suddenly, a knot formed in her
stomach, one so tight she almost vomited in the circle. She was in
Caipo searching for just such a secret when the tragedy befell the
town, which took Randall Tri'amos's life. If she wins, would that
not mean that she will be here for the fire and subsequent
earthquake?

Fortunately, the complex protection spell being cast was not
instantaneous, giving her time to think. She could win now, of that
she was sure, and she could warn the town of the dark knight and
dragoon, saving her family and friends from a horrible fate.
However, she was aware of the adventure the dark knight took, and
aware of the evil he destroyed upon the moon. If she changes history
here, Rydia will probably not be there for him as he takes up his
battle, and the evil will live. Or is it possible that he can still
defeat it without Mist falling by the will of Zemus.

The spell was complete, the crowds cheers of anticipation snapping
Tilanya from her thoughts. She was then given the choice to summon
first or second. Taking a good, long look around the town she loved
so dearly, and her mind was made up.

Incentus rose from his sleep, and smiled. He curled over from his
position and noted the sereneness of where he lay. *the forest was
always nice* he noted. He peered over his shoulder and saw Chrissa
and Eric talking. From under his tunic, Incentus pulled out a little
book and started writing in it. It was tattered around the edges,
showing it's age. It seemed as though the contents were important to
him. He grinned as he read the last entry and then put it back in his
pocket. "last time I'll see Felistia. Regards, Incentus" it read. And
he thought of an event.

<Into reminiscing :)>

Incentus stared out at the large expanse of mountains and hills. The
grass plains rolled on as far as the eye could see. And although he
desired very much to return, he looked forward with a resolute stance
and determined mind. With that, he thought to himself *next time,
Fabul*

<out of Reminiscing>

-----------------------------

Felistia woke up from her sleep as she opened her eyes and observed
the surroundings around her. *another day...* she thought to herself.
It was the 6th time she had woken up after having the same dream. And
although she was hopeful of it being real, a part of her said
otherwise. Of course, her surroundings were not shabby. She had a
wardrobe, with a mirror and adjoining bathroom. In fact, she had been
treated as a princess her stay here in Baron, and she much enjoyed
it. Things were fine. And so they should be. But a niggle in her
conscience kept her from her peace. *What's wrong?* she thought. For
her surroundings were amazing and she should be satisfied. *i mean..*
she thought to herself *things are far better than that shabby place
in Mysidia. How dare my parents chuck me in the smallest room in the
house!* She arose and entered her clothing chambers to get ready for
a new day, before she heard a knock on the door. *that must be
Captain* she thought. And with that opened the door and left her room.

Amasa was getting worried. There were enough people in Baron to fuel
the nightmare fog. Even though he was worried about Mana, he was
also concerned for Rosa as well. Luck was on the boy's side as he
almost tripped over Rosa. She looked rather peaceful and happy.
Amasa could feel a protective aura around Rosa. Someone was
protecting the Queen from the fog! Who was it?

Amasa decide to figure out who later and carefully picked up the
Queen from the ground. He looked around but couldn't make out a
clear spot at all. Amasa then decided to walk to where he remembered
the castle to be. He walked past Baigan's corpse and saw a trail of
blood so he decided to follow it. At the end of the trail he found
Garret alive but just barely.

"Hey," the boy kneeled down to get a closer look. "What happened?
Can you move at all?"

Garret coughed up more blood. "I...will be okay in a bit. Just get
rid of this fog..."

"You broke out of your dream? How?"

"The idiot had a monster pose as Mana. Stupid idiot probably doesn't
know I am half human so I know what a human scent is. I killed the
monster ...."

"Ahh...on that note, someone is protecting Rosa. There is someone
else's aura around her. It feels so familiar."

"It should feel familiar...anyway.....Mana's nightmare...it took
solid form...Golbez did this to me and took her...get her
back....hurry..."

"Golbez?!" Amasa stood up rather quickly. "I'll make sure that Rosa
is in a safe location and I'll go after Golbez. Are you sure you're
going to be fine? You lost a lot of blood..."

"It's just the fog...I'll be okay..."

Amasa nodded and quickly walked to where he assumed the castle would
be and found it. He found soldiers passed out every where. He found
Edge sprawled over a random bench. Where were the other royal guests?

****

Upon summoning Leviathan, Rydia's illusion broke like shattered
glass returning her back to the fog covered scene she was in before.

"Queen Rydia?" Amasa came jogging up still carrying Rosa. "Are you
all right? You look okay. Are you able to help me? There's a
nightmare loose and solid. As well, apparently Golbez has gone
berserk. Let's look for some of the other royal guests as well to
make sure they are safe. An assasination attempt would be most easy
to carry out in this environment."

Wandering around the castle with Rydia for a short while, Amasa
almost tripped over Golbez's body. "What the? He's supposed to
be..." Then it dawned on him. Mana's nightmare was the old Golbez
and considering the tales he had heard about that Golbez and the
fact Mana had never fought him upfront, the Nightmare Golbez would
be stronger than the real one! Amasa laid Rosa down next to Golbez.
He noticed that Golbez had the same protective aura around him. Who
was it that was keeping the fog's evil aura from infecting these
two? That meant that Golbez and Rosa were not in a nightmare. That
would make it more complicated to wake them up. They could not fight
their way out like Garret did...

"Queen Rydia, please guard..." then suddenly Amasa literally
disappeared into thin air.

Cecil was taken aback at Rosa's actions. He laughed nervously and
held Rosa reassuringly. "I love you too. You know how much I love
you. I would give the world to you, I would destroy the world for
you if you wanted." He pulled her closer and gave her a reassuring
kiss. "It was just a bad dream you had darling. Everything is
okay...it was just a nightmare...I'm always with you," he said while
combing her hair with his fingers.

"Cedric! Come back here! Your parents are still sleeping!" they
could hear Kain bellow out. Cecil sat up slowly and chuckled.

A little boy that looked a lot like Cecil burst into the room. He
held out a paper bag. "Here's your going away present Mommy and
Daddy!" the boy said enthusiastically. "Aurora and I made it
together for you! Have fun on your trip! I'm going to have fun on my
camping trip too!"

Kain walked in. "Sorry about that guys. I thought you guys were
going to sleep in like Mana and Golbez so I thought I would give you
more time to rest. Your son is very energetic."

"But you can see that they are not sleeping Uncle Kain!"

Kain held his head. "Yeah...Anyways...we'll see you guys off before
our trip later today," he said while leading Cedric out.

Cecil chuckled. "He definitely has your energy honey," he said
before falling back into bed.

****

Mana was slightly confused at her husband's reaction. She moved in
front of him and looked into his eyes. "Are you all right Golbez?"
She had a look of extreme worry in her eyes. "Why are you acting
like you are under trial? And...you can't have forgotten all the
wonderful things you did? Yes, everyone was wary of you being made
ambassador but they knew, when you came, Cecil meant business. Cecil
said leaving you as a general would've been the wrong move based on
how people percieved you at the time. You proved to be a wonderful
ambassador, not only for Baron but you also are a wonderful
negotiator. You stopped Eblan and Fabul from tearing each others'
throats six years ago and that showed everyone in the world what a
wonderful man I always knew you were and are...Did someone say
something to you recently that would make you doubt that? Oh! Don't
forget the boating accident where you single handedly saved Aurora's
classmates." Mana giggled. "I remember how Aurora was so embarrassed
on how everyone thought how 'cool' you were!" Mana threw her arms
around him and kissed him reassuringly. "Let's not worry about silly
things and try to enjoy ourselves all right?"

****

Amasa looked around. One minute he was talking to Rydia and the next
he was...standing in a fog free Baron?

"Cedric! Hurry up! I wanna buy more candy!"

Amasa turned around quickly to see a little girl and boy run right
through him. He was in someone else's dream! But who's dream was it?
The only way he could tell was if they could see him. Obviously,
since it wasn't his dream, the people in the dream couldn't see him.
Until he ran across the dreamer, he decided to watch the two
children argue over what candy was the best tasting one.

<"I love you too. You know how much I love you. I would give the
world to you, I would destroy the world for you if you wanted.">

Rosa held onto him like her life depended upon it. Cecil felt so
good in her arms. His heartbeat was comforting and she felt her own
slow down its beatting.

<"It was just a bad dream you had darling. Everything is okay...it
was just a nightmare...I'm always with you.">

"It was the worst nightmare I've ever had. I never want to go to
sleep again if it means losing you like that. My grief was so much
that I almost died..."

Her voice trailed off when she heard a familiar voice.

"Kain! He's alive too?"

Silent tears trickled down her face and she quickly wiped them away.
She pulled her blankets around her bare shoulders as a little boy
burst into the room.

'He looks like Cecil...could he be our son...?'

<"Here's your going away present Mommy and Daddy! Aurora and I made
it together for you! Have fun on your trip! I'm going to have fun on
my camping trip too!">

Rosa couldn't say anything. Her eyes stared in wonder and amazement
at her son, the son she never knew she had. She let Kain, Cecil, and
Cedric comment until Kain and Cedric left the room. Rosa let the
covers fall from her hands and covered her face with her hands as
she cried.

"I have a son and daughter...I have a son and daughter...son and
daughter..."

She couldn't believe how perfect her life really was.

'How could I have lived in such a nightmare for so long when I have
such a perfect life and family waiting for me when I awake?'

"I don't want to go on any trip. I want to see our son and daughter.
I want to get to know them...or at least remember them...in my
nightmare I never had children...I never got to experience this
wonderful gift with you..."

Rosa knew she sounded crazy, but she needed to know things about her
children.

"How old are they? What are their favorite colors, animals, foods,
anything...When are their birthdays? Can't we go camping with our
children?"

Rosa got up from the bed and paced the room in her white silk
sleeping gown. She looked amazingly beautiful, but very troubled.

'I am so confused. Why don't I know the answers to my questions.'

She sat down in front of the vanity mirror and stared at her
reflection. Her eyes had a haunted look to them with dark rings. Her
skin was more pale than usual and her hair shone like white gold.
She lifted her hand and gazed at the beautiful wedding ring that
Cecil had given her when he had proposed.

'Am I crazy? Did Cecil marry a madwoman?'

Cecil listened carefully as his wife told him more details of her
nightmare. He didn't know what to think, say or do. He was as
confused as Rosa. Maybe it was the stress from work? Or could it be
the work of an enemy? If it was the latter, how dare they target his
beloved! He followed Rosa out of bed and wrapped his arms around her
from behind while kissing her shoulder.

"It's okay, everything is all right because of everyone's hard work.
This is the age of peace and prosperity that we worked and fought
for. This is a golden age. No one is dead except the bad guys. "

Cecil turned Rosa around and held her hands in his own as he looked
directly at her trying to calm her down and bring her reassurance.

"Cedric is six years old, born in December, likes chocolate and
chocobos. Aurora is Golbez's child. She's five years old turning
six. You treat her like a daughter all the time and she acts like a
little sister to Cedric so it's like she was our own and vice versa
for Cedric towards Golbez. Of course, if you want a daughter, I
don't mind putting in more hours for 'work'," Cecil said with a
wink. "Cedric and Aurora are going on a school camping trip. Kain is
going to supervise. It would look strange and would be awkward for
Cedric and Aurora if we went. We're going to take a vacation with
Golbez and Mana. But I can tell Mana that you're not interested if
that is what you want."

Rosa still had looks of worry and doubt. Cecil just smiled with
understanding. "Do you remember? A little over nine years ago, I
thought I had lost you. That was the worst experience I had ever
had," he said while suddenly hugging his wife. "I want you to know,
I'll never leave you, I'll never let you go unless you want me to. I
am always with you, I'll always be here to protect you and love you.
All you have to do is call my name. I love you more than anything
Rosa!"

After a while, Cecil took a step back from his wife. "I have to make
sure Cedric is fully packed and prepared for his trip. You can
search for him if you wish," the paladin then went to get washed and
fully dressed. After he came out, he went to his son's room to look
over the bags to see if his son was truly prepared for his trip.

****

After she had kissed her husband, Mana was more convinced something
was wrong. Golbez was acting so strangely toward her for some
reason. Had she done something wrong? She slowly backed away from
her husband. "Um, I'm going to find Aurora and make sure she is
packed for her trip. I'll see you later okay?" she said as she left
the room full of worry.

****

Kluya Harvey walked around in Rosa's and Golbez's dream world with a
smile on his face. It truly was a beautiful world. Their guardian
angel was spending much energy trying to protect them from the
nightmare fog. "Do you really love them that much that you risk non-
existance to protect them?" he said towards the sky.

A seraphim that looked like Mana appeared before him. She nodded in
reply.

Kluya just smiled. "My son is a very lucky man."

****

Amasa followed Cedric and Aurora as they wandered around.

"Aurora!"

His attention was suddenly diverted to the woman calling out the
child's name.

"Hey Mommy! Over here. Cedric and I were just buying some candy!"

Mana smiled as she walked up to the children. "So are you excited to
go on your trip?"

Amasa just watched the trio converse as if in a daze. He followed
them back to the castle where he saw Kluya and the seraphim
talking. "You!" He said while looking at both of them in
surprise. "What are you doing here Kluya?"

"Enjoying the scenery. What are you doing in the dreams of the man
you hate the most and the Queen?"

"I don't know! I was sucked in here!" He then turned his attention
back to the seraphim. "Why...are you...?"

The seraphim just smiled sadly.

****

Golbez wandered the castle, observing the illusionary world for
every detail that it presented. He later came across Amasa and the
others. The seraphim smiled brightly upon seeing him. Amasa wondered
what she was so happy about and suddenly removed his enchanted
bandanna, turned around and got into a fighting stance. No one else
seemed to be able to see Amasa, Kluya or the seraphim. It was like
they didn't truly exist in the world.

"Hello son," Kluya said with a smile. "Enjoying this world of yours?"

Rosa felt Cecil's gentle kiss on her shoulder as he pulled her into
his arms. She felt all warm, as if she were cuddled up in a blanket.
She let his words ease the fear that was still clutching at her
heart.

<"It's okay, everything is all right because of everyone's hard
work. This is the age of peace and prosperity that we worked and
fought for. This is a golden age. No one is dead except the bad
guys.">

"I never want to lose you again Cecil. I am glad that we have this
golden age of peace. I always wanted to grow old in a peaceful
world..."

She was gently turned around by Cecil as he took hold of her hands
to talk to her about their son.

<"Cedric is six years old, born in December, likes chocolate and
chocobos. Aurora is Golbez's child. She's five years old turning
six. You treat her like a daughter all the time and she acts like a
little sister to Cedric so it's like she was our own and vice versa
for Cedric towards Golbez. Of course, if you want a daughter, I
don't mind putting in more hours for 'work'.">

'I guess I was wrong. I don't have a daughter.'

She blushed at Cecil's wink about "working" towards having a
daughter. She tightened her grip on his hands. Rosa had visions of a
daughter that she could dress up and teach white magic to. Heck,
maybe even black magic if her tastes ran in that direction. She
would be able to make up all the missed time she felt she had
towards Cedric.

"I would love to have a daughter with you my dear husband."

She leaned into him to plant a small kiss on his lips as she
listened to the rest of what he had to say.

<"Cedric and Aurora are going on a school camping trip. Kain is
going to supervise. It would look strange and would be awkward for
Cedric and Aurora if we went. We're going to take a vacation with
Golbez and Mana. But I can tell Mana that you're not interested if
that is what you want.">

Rosa felt immediate remorse at the thought of having to call off her
trip with Mana and Golbez just because she felt a little
uncomfortable at the moment.

"That is completely unnecessary! I want our son to have his camping
trip and I want us to have a little alone time as well. We could
practice working towards having a daughter couldn't we dear?"

She gave him a playful wink similar to the one he had given her a
couple of minutes earlier.

<"Do you remember? A little over nine years ago, I thought I had
lost you. That was the worst experience I had ever had. I want you
to know, I'll never leave you, I'll never let you go unless you want
me to. I am always with you, I'll always be here to protect you and
love you. All you have to do is call my name. I love you more than
anything Rosa!">

The sudden hug from Cecil left her with watery eyes.

"I'm going to hold you to that promise my true love."

Rosa hadn't felt this safe in a long time.

'Everything is going to be alright. I am back where I belong.'

<"I have to make sure Cedric is fully packed and prepared for his
trip. You can search for him if you wish.">

Rosa was a bit disappointed that Cecil had to go get dressed (was he
nakey?) and felt a little silly still walking around in her nightie.

'I guess I should change too.'

She rang for a maid who entered the room and helped her dress in a
white silk dress with a pale blue shimmer to it. It brought out the
colors in her eyes. There were light blue lace around the cuffs and
the bottom of the dress. There was also a blue string that tied
about the middle which helped show off her lovely curves. As the
maid adjusted her hair Rosa took that time to examine her face in
the vanity.

'I have color to my skin. My cheeks are rosy. I look so young.'

She was amazed at how beautiful she really was. In her nightmare she
had felt dead, like a ghost. She had never saw beauty in her when
she looked into the mirror.

"I am finished with your hair my majesty."

Rosa quickly dismissed the maid so she could look at the artful
curls that framed her face. Her long blonde hair was tied back and
adorned in a fancy bun with a blue rose pinned to it.

'Now that I am dressed, I should look for Cedric.'

Rosa hesitated leaving the room. She knew that he was her son, but
she felt funny.

'I don't even know him. What am I going to say? Maybe I should ask
Cecil if he wants to come too!'

"Oh honey! Want to help me find our darling son?"

'I know I am being a bit of a coward, but I can't help it. I've
always been good with children, but when a mother can't even
remember her own child...I mean...it's just so odd...'

~Tilanya~

"I shall summon first" Tilanya said, her eyes focused upon her
opponent, who merely smiled and awaited her first creature.
Channeling her energy, she began chanting, spheres of white energy
beginning to encircle her.

"What the?..." The bystanders exclaimed, seeing and sensing the use
of her white magic. "What are you doing Tilanya?" her opponent
asked, preparing a spell of his own should she attack. Tilanya
completed her spell, and with the entire village gazing at her, she
dissapeared from the circle. She had cast an "Exit" spell,
confusing all within the area, especially her opponent, who stood
there dumbfounded.

With a burst of white light, Tilanya appeared on a mountain ledge
far above the town, the sounds of the celebration did not reach her
now, the occasional bird was not the only sound that reached her
ears. She gazed down to the village below, still able to see the
sphere of protection she was in moments before. She felt regret
about leaving, but she dared not go back, for in her heart she knew
it was not real.

"I don't know who you are, or why you have chosen to send me here,
but I will not play along in your games. I am Tilanya Silvanas,
sorcerer and summoner of Mist. I demand that you return me to my
time at once!" She yelled to the mountains, her stern voice echoing
across the massive boulders and seemingly endless caverns.

((Can the fog hear her defiant cry? And will it release her from
this alternate world? I don't know, but we will find out. To Be
Continued...))

OOC: Been busy with exams, and then my computer decided to come down
with a virus... yay -_-

IC: Carasha ran through the halls of the castle. It was like a
dream, yet it felt so real. She could feel the stone floor beneath
her feet, and the heat of the fires. The ninja turned and bounded up
the steps to the ramparts.
It was like before. A woman, somewhere near her middle ages, and
two children, were surrounded by a group of bombs and fire dogs,
with only a dagger in hand. "Mom!" Carasha called, slicing a firedog
to get past him and next to her mother.
"Carasha, what are you doing here?!" her mother called. "Get your
sisters and get out!"
"Mom, I can handle them! YOU get them out of here!" Carasha shook
her head, quickly pulling out a smoke bomb and tossing it on the
ground. The smoke covered everything from sight. As soon as the
smoke cleared, Carasha was the only one left standing there. The
ninja couldn't help but feel that her heart was going to leap out of
her. It wasn't like all those nightmares from before.. She was
finally able to do something. "Now for you..." she chanted a flood
spell under her breath. The gushing water came through, cooling down
the fire-based monsters to a sizzle.
"Hmmm, from what I remember, the ninjas hadn't uncovered that magic
yet..." a voice suddenly came from behind. Carasha quickly turned,
eyes narrowing at the caped man.
"Rubicant..." Carasha growled, katana up and ready. She suddenly
charged at him, with a cry for blood. Rubicant wasn't unprepared,
however, as he stepped away in the blink of an eye, kicking her
away.
Carasha hit the side of the rampart, luckily not going over. But
she stared in shock at Rubicant. <But... I'm more experienced now
then I was then.... How could he possibly be stronger than before!?>
"So you think you're able to change what has been?" Rubicant
smirked, seeming to enjoy the thought. "No, I too am well aware of
what happened before, what will still happen... And you change..."
Carasha scoffed, picking herself back up. "So you're improved too..
Big deal... I can still deal with you.. I've changed what I've
wanted to change."
"Oh have you...?" Rubicant started laughing manaicly. "The death of
your mother, right? Oh, how terrible... If only you knew what you've
just done..."
Carasha didn't lower her weapon, but she tensed up drasticly. "What
have you done?"
"Not I, my dear girl. Rather, what have you done? Originally, it
was the death of your mother, trying to take on too many monsters
while saving the lifes of your family, but now..." Rubicant turned
away, looking down from the ramparts.
Carasha's knuckles were white on the hilt of her sword. Rubicant
knew something. It took all the will within Carasha to step up and
see what he was looking down upon. Her eyes widened, and she quickly
turned away from the scene.
"Monsters have no discrimiancy. Now, due to the choices you made,
they have taken your mother and your sisters..." Rubicant shook his
head with a 'tsk'. "They were rather young.. You're the eldest,
right? How old was the youngest? 5? 7?"
Carasha stood trembling, unable to turn back in that direction. But
her face had a glare to melt ice. "... You.... You're the cause of
all this...."
"Me? Rather, you should have made sure your sisters were safe."
Rubicant shrugged.
"You destroyed my home, my mom, and my whole way of life. Now that
you've destroyed almost everyone else in my family... I have nothing
to lose." Carasha pulled her sword, leaping at Rubicant again.

-------------------

"Incentus, put that book away, we're close to the summit!" Chrissa
teased, pushing the little guy ahead. As they got closer and closer
to the top, Chrissa could feel the relief. Nothing was going to
happen to her brother. That prophet was terribly wrong. How could
Eric fall into darkness as a paladin?
As for Eric, however.... A bad intution seemed to be building up in
him. Something bad was happening. If not here, elsewhere. He
remembered the cloaked man's words.. That they'll need a
paladin 'soon'. So he continued up the mountain, until they neared
the top.
"Eric.." Chrissa started. "If we're to take the man's advice, we're
suppose to light this lumber up here... Are we going through with
it?" she asked. She still had hesistation about the man's intentions
that had pushed them on to Mt. Ordeals.
".. Yeah.. Incentus, go ahead and light a fire. We'll take a break."

Incentus raised his hands from his sides and began to speak under his
breath as he formed a small fireball. On completion, he launched the
fireball at the wood and the fire caused the wood to ignite into a
burning glory. It brought light and heat to the small enclosure as
the 3 were getting ready to rest. Incentus smiled as sleep overcame
him and brought him into a dozy state, images of past and visions of
future flashing through his mind as he lapsed into subconsciousness.

A large city was before him, with high-rising walls, and many gates
and roads coming into the land. Though the terrain seemed familiar to
him, the surroundings would suggest otherwise. He stood not 200
metres from the city. And to his right was a cluster of trees, as
well as a road that had shown its years. It looked as if many people
and vehicles had past to and from the city, while the grass lands and
hills, the rivers and forests, retained their beauty and glory: there
was a river running through the city, while the ocean could be seen
far off in the distance. A mountain range rose to high peaks to the
west and the road from the west gate of the city made it's way to the
valley and tracks around the hills. Monsters could not be found and
flocks of sheep and farm animals were grazing the grass plains.
Incentus blinked and the dream ended, it's meaning unclear. And he
was joyful Chrissa and Eric were with him. *maybe some other time* he
thought to himself.

Edge's vision was coming into focus.

"Stop spacing out ninja boy!" he could hear Kain shout while
tackling him out of the way. "Do you have a death wish or something?
If you want to die, then die, but don't take the rest of us down
with you!"

Everything became horribly crystal clear all too soon. "Mom! Dad!"
he shouted. Deja vu...this felt like deja vu...What was he doing
before? There was no time for second guessing or doubt. He had to do
something but what? They were his parents! What could he do?

"Mom! Dad! It's me, Edge! Don't you remember me? Mom! Dad!
Please!!!!"

****

He couldn't hold Tilanya much longer. "Argh..." He was frustrated.
Both summoners had already broken out of the nightmare world. Even
that dumbass dragoon Garret had broken free! Not only that, he was
blocked from entering the minds of the Queen and Golbez, the ones he
wanted to hurt the most. It was not going well at all. He decided to
make another nightmare, for the people who had woken up...

****

Amasa pretended to let his guard down. "Aw, man, Golbez don't do
that will you?"

"Daddy!" Aurora ran right through Amasa like he was a ghost. "Lookie
Daddy!" The girl held out her hands that were full of candy. "Which
do you think is better? Caramel or chocolate?"

"That's not fair Aurora! Your father will obviously say what will
make you happy!" complained Cedric.

Mana just cautiously looked at her husband. She mentally told
herself not to make a big deal about how strange Golbez was acting
today. She smiled. "Are you feeling better now?"

Kluya just laughed. "What cute grandchildren I have!"

Seraphim Mana just smiled.

"Is there something wrong?" Mana asked Golbez as he seemed to be
looking at something that wasn't there.

****

Cecil made sure all of Cedric's belongings were in place. "Sure,
let's go find Cedric together."

The couple walked around the castle until they came upon everyone
else.

Amasa looked at Rosa. Was she truly real or...?

"Auntie Rosa!" Aurora ran up to her while putting away the
candy. "Look!" the girl said while casting Cure 3. "I can do it! I
can cast Cure 3! You'll teach me how to do Cure 4 when I come home
right?"

Cedric, not wanting to be outdone ran up to his mother and tried to
cast the same spell only to have it blow up in his face each
time. "Rats..." he muttered. Aurora just giggled.

Golbez gave Rosa a good look over to determine if she was real like
him. He knew Cecil was dead. Cecil wasn't going to come back to
life...

Cecil was taken aback by the look his brother was giving him. Why
was his brother looking at him like he was looking at a stranger?

Felistia woke up from a rest during the day. Despite her missing
dinner and refraining from going out with friends, she was happy she
had the rest. And this allowed her a brisk walk along the castle
walls. And resolutely putting her mind to this, she did. Opening the
door was a courtyard and in the courtyard were many people. They
seemed, to Felistia, to be planning something. But because she was
several stories above ground, she wasn't quite sure. She smiled and
began to walk along the path to the downstairs, making her way in the
building [much warmer than, she added, to the outside path next to
her room] She raised her head, and noticed that Steven, a fellow
White Mage, was sitting on a chair, slightly dozing off to sleep.
From the looks of his face and demeanour Felistia made out he hadn't
had too much of a day that day.

"Steven!" she exclaimed. And with that, he was shocked into wake,
startled by what he heard. And turning toward Felistia, smiled and
said "H, Hey!" [is startled expression still hadn't left him] He got
up off his chair and Waltzed up to Felistia. "Yes?" he said. She
chuckled and replied "You look like a goof", patting him on the
back. "Did you have any plans for tonight?" she added, her hands
clasped together, head to the ground, and rocking back and
forward. "I just woke up" she said. With a glum expression on his
face he shrugged his shoulders.

"Then i'm gonna bring you along" she said. "Bring me along?" he
replied, "what for?" and grabbing him by the arm she ran along the
corridor and made their way to the bottom floor. And as they ran they
could see a group of Black Mages gathering. For what purpose neither
of them knew. Of course, Felistia didn't want Steven to know that.
She shoved Steven and pointed to the Black Mages. They hid behind a
small wall, and then waited.

The Black Mages were gathering, their purpose not known. But Felistia
did know that the 3 of them had been seen before. Their names were
Saltiz, Glomba, and Methta. The 3 always seemed to be together. And
it had been that way since Felistia had come to Baron. The 3 of them
twiddled their thumbs and seemed to be discussing something between
them. But Felistia would have nothing of it. She jumped up from her
concealed position and ran over to Saltiz, bowling him over. If at
any point Saltiz was going to make an offence, it had been
thwarted. "What are you 3 doing?" she asked, "you're always doing
this kinda stuff. Always being mischievous and mysterious. It's not
good behavior in the least"

But they didn't know what to say. And were quite taken aback by what
had just happened. "Wha? What are you going on about" By this time
Felistia had got up off Saltiz and the 3 Black Mages were standing up
looking at her in the face. "Stop it you punk, you're only 12 years
old. But we're older than you and more knowledgeable. Get outta here"
the leader replied. Felistia shook her head. She laughed, and then
she shook her head again. "Well, whatever it seems like to you, leave
it be. But this just cracks me up" And she ended it there. They stuck
their tongues out at her and left. [What had just happened? Steven
was clueless] "Well, i'm just left confused" said Steven. "Eh?"
replied Felistia, "well, whatever. Lets go get something to eat" And
they left.

Runic bowed as she quickly walked out of the room. He was concerned
about the fog, having heard stories about a mysterious fog when he
was a kid. His sword began to glow a strange glow. He left the room
with a small grin on his face, as if possesed by something. One of
the guards tried to speak to him as he left, but Runic paid no
attention to his calls. He went down the hall and into the main
corridor, then through the main doors to the outside gates. He
noticed as the Queen and a few guards observed as Garret ran into
the fog, then mysteriously running up from behind them. 'The stories
are true...' he thought to himself. 'That means...'

He quickly walked back into the castle, and up to his chambers. As
he got into his room and began to crawl into his bed, he suddenly
got dizzy and passed out.

OOC: Sorry I have been away. I moved out of my parents house and
have been without internet for a while. I will post his dream next.

Runic found himself laying in a field of flowers. 'Very strange it
is Im surrounded by flowers. I do not remember this place,' he
thought as he got up. The sky was blue with not a cloud in site. The
sun was dirrectly over head, and in the distance was the Castle of
Baron. The mountains looked beautiful in the distance. He looked in
the distance to the forest. He notced something was watching him,
and after he had noticed in turned and slowely disappeared into the
trees. He walked to the forest, in no hurry to get there. Something
in the air was unsettling, but he could not pinpoint what it was. He
looked down and noticed this sword was glowing. He did not know why
it would sometimes glow a strange glow. But he could always tell
when it was glowing. Thing always began to become strage to him, as
if his subconcios thoughts were part of his reality. He would begin
to hear voices every now and then, but he shrugged it off as if he
was just thinking crazy stuff.

When he entered the forest he heard a voice. He turned towards the
direction of the voice. In the middle of the path he saw his old
friend Alex standing. He squinted as he looked ahead, confused as to
why he was alive. "I...I killed you," he said, "...how is it that
you are standing before me? Is this some kind of an illusion?" He
then remembered the stories of about the mysterious fog. "...This is
part of my dream isn't it?"

Runic then reached for his sword, pulling it out. It, however, was
not the Chaos Blade, but just a normal sword. He looked ahead at
Alex, who then was holding the Chaos Blade. Runic stood confused.
Alex suddenly jumped clear into the air and came down on Runic with
the Chaos Blade, piercing his armor clean through from front to
back. Runic took a few steps back, the sword still in his chest, and
said, "Why...why would you kill me...Alex?"

Alex gave no emotion, but just replied, "Why...why would you kill
me...Runic? I know you have not been yourself lately. Wash your
hands of it..." Alex then disappeared. Then the sword, along with
his pain and his wound disappeared as well. This all was too much
for him, as he suddenly got dizzy and passed out in the field of
flowers.

OOC: I will post more often I promise. I will post at my parents
house tonight. I will bring Runic up to date with where everyone is
now.

OOC: This song was Runic theme song for the first RPG.

BIC: Runic quickly woke up and rose from his bed. He was a bit dizzy
from getting up so fast. "Where am I?" he thought as he scratched
his head, looking around the small room he was in. "I remember his
place..." he said as he left the room, "This is the inn me and Arian
stayed in... in Fabul." He sat down at the dinner table in the main
lounge. "I cannot remember the last time I was in Fabul. I remember
me and Alex were looking for parts for our hovercraft when we met
the Queen in Baron. We have been through alot... I had a dream, I
said I killed Alex... Was it real...?"

Runic went back into his room to get dressed. He realized he was
young looking again when he found his clothes. 'I wonder...' he
started to think. He quickly put on his clothes and ran outside his
room. <<He walked down the stairs, then saw Arian walk through the
door with her hand on her sword, so he crouched and waited to see
what she would do. A man then walked into the Inn and started
talking to her. They started to argue, so he knew this wasn't too
good. He stayed crouched at the top of the stairs and continued to
listen and watch Arian and the man.>> ((from post # 792))

Suddenly everything disappeared. He found himself back in the room
in the Inn. He layed down and fell asleep. He breifly awoke in his
bed in the Castle Baron.

"That was too wierd," he said, getting out of bed. He was still
dressed in his armor. "I wonder what is going on now." He grabbed
his sword and left his chambers in search of the others.

OOC: Post & 960 - 980+ have Runic and Rosa in the same scene, but
never talked to eachother cause thats when Runic liked the character
Arian. These are just some of his random flash backs.

~Tilanya~

Silence. That is all the elderly sorceress heard, standing alone
atop the mountain ledge. For a few moments, Tilanya stood there as
if awaiting an answer. However, none came, a bit of frustration
slowly formed upon her face. Taking a seat upon the ground, she
soon found herself idly tossing pebbles over the edge of the cliff.
Adjusting her position, she felt something jab her side.

Looking down to see what she leaned on, she realized that her inside
pocket wasn't empty. Curious, she reached inside, and pulled out a
red leather pouch, a slight smirk crossing her face. Her meditation
aide, an herb grown in various parts of the world she used to
increase her magical energies. Opening the strap, she removed the
pipe, the culprit that poked her side, but then frowned. She
remembered the last time she saw this pouch, just before the fight
that almost took place again several minutes prior.

Some, particularly those in the council, frowned upon the herb she
used. After her original defeat, the medic's found it, and turned
it in, which added to her disgrace, though she was never ashamed of
the herb or it's use.

With a sigh, she shook her head and tossed the pouch and pipe over
the cliff's edge. "My pouch is gone, I won't play along with your
game. Set me free!" She again repeated to the quiet day's sky.
That is when she got an idea, one that made her face go cold. "Set
me free." She again repeated, as she stood up. Walking to the very
edge, she once again gazed down upon the town. The festival was
still going on. Her eyes narrowed slightly, before her chanting
began.

Tilanya wasn't sure how long she chanted, could have been thirty
seconds or ten minutes, but she wasn't worried about it. As she got
to the final part of the ancient spell, her eyes burst forth with a
blinding light. Far above the city council chamber, spheres of holy
essence formed, and descended.

Crashing through the wooden roof, Tilanya watched from above as the
spheres exploded in a massive ball of holy light, which destroyed a
good portion of the building. Much of the celebration was held
inside, which means that blast probably killed many of the
illusionary people within its walls. If the person or persons who
kept her trapped here wouldn't listen to her words, her actions
would have to speak for her. Either way, she would get answers, or
at least set free of this place.

<"Sure, let's go find Cedric together.">

Rosa was very happy that her husband wanted to go with her. She
followed him as he led her where the others had gathered.

<"Auntie Rosa!">

Rosa laughed at the little girl's energy.

<"Look!">

"Wow! You can cast Cure 3 already? You must be a quick learner! It
took me twice as long to learn that spell when I was younger."

<"I can do it! I can cast Cure 3! You'll teach me how to do Cure 4
when I come home right?">

"Of course sweetie."

She felt her heart bursting with love.

'What a wonderful life I have here.'

She quickly looked at her son.

'He looks so much like his father...'

She felt her eyes tears as the thought. Her watery eyes quickly
filled with mirth as she watched her son try the same spell. She
tried to stifle her giggle as his spell blew up in his face. She
quickly went over to him and hugged him.

"Just like your mother...I had the same problem when I tried to cast
that spell as a young girl."

She then whispered into his ear. "I'll help you learn both Cure 3
and 4 before Aurora, okay? We can't let that brainiac outdo us, can
we?"

She gave her son a kiss on his cheek as she stood up. Her eyes were
focused solely on the children's. She didn't even notice the other
people standing around her. She was just so happy with her life.

Rosa then felt a strange itch on her back, as if someone's eyes were
boring into her. She turned around and noticed that Golbez was
looking at her funny.

"Are you okay Golbez? You look a little sick."

Cedric felt bad and felt that he had let his mother down. But after
she whispered that she would teach him the strongest cure spell
before Aurora, he had a grin as big as the Cheshire cat with a
mischievious giggle to match. This made Aurora very curious as to
what Rosa had said to him.

Mana quickly walked over to her husband's side and wrapped her arms
around him.
"Golbez has been feeling unwell since this morning. I think it is
from over work. You know how he is," she said with forced smile.

Cecil regarded Golbez with caution still. Something was not right..

"Daddy! Did you like the present Aurora and I made for you?" Cedric
asked.

Cecil pulled out the bag and the gingerbread man that resembled
him. "Yup, I like it very much," he said while taking a bite from
it. He handed Rosa the bag with the gingerbread cookie that looked
like her. Cedric smiled. Cecil turned to look at his brother once
more. Why did he have this uneasy feeling? Mana looked uneasy as
well...

Amasa had to take a chance. He had to know if Rosa was real. He
walked up to her, through the children and held her free hand. She
was solid to him. She was real as was Golbez. "Queen Rosa...You can
see me can't you?" Tears started to form in his eyes. He didn't want
to cause the Queen any pain. He didn't want to destroy this world
for her. She was so happy here...The boy felt his heart rip.

Seraphim Mana also felt saddened but the truth had to be told sooner
or later. The Queen's and Golbez's dream were merged. One could not
leave without the other.
"It's all right," said the seraphim ever so quietly towards
Amasa. "There is no immediate danger. Let the Queen come to her own
conclusion."

Kluya was just smiling as he observed everyone.

The children ran through Amasa while they playfully chased each
other. He was only solid to the Queen and Golbez. Amasa let go of
Rosa's hand and took a few steps back.

Cecil and Mana noticed Rosa and Golbez looking at the same spot but
there was nothing there. Cecil then looked at Mana while she held
her husband. To Cecil it looked like Golbez and Mana might as well
have been looking at each other from across a giant canyon on
opposite ends. What was going on here? What was going on with his
brother and wife?

artificial?* she thought to herself. She decided to leave Steven at
his meal and go have a walk around the castle.

But wherever she went, whoever she talked to. It never seemed to
amount to anything. She began to eat at the banquet in the main
foyer, while looking around and seeing familiar faces. Even childhood
friends from Mysidia, Elders from Fabul. *it's been a while since
i've seen them* she thought. And she smiled. She sat down at a table
and noticed Steven somewhat bored and reminiscing over things. No one
was at his table, and *maybe he's lonely* she thought. But he looked
as if he was having a good time.

So she sat down at the table and said
"Hi!, how are you, Steven?" she said.
Rather abrashly and confrontationly he replied "I'm good, good, yeah."
His reply startled her and she stopped talking.
"I'm a little dazed, it must have been the short sleep I had" she
stated.
"Yeah..." he replied. "must be the rest"
Felistia stood up and made her way to the Queen's throne room. She
walked off and disappeared among the crowd that had emerged within
the dining room.

A group of mages had gathered before the Queen in protest towards yet
was happening to her kingdom. Since Cecil had died, the running of
the nation had fallen into disarray, many quarrels and disputes had
started up, and knowing their place, they came before Rosa. Pearing
at them, Felistia noticed that the Mages were from Mysidia, and that
even Incentus was there.

Turning around, he smiled and waved to Felistia. "Hi!" he said "come
along now. No reason to be afraid. It's me! your friend Incentus!"

"Incentus!" she said with a startled expression. "What happened, why
are you back so quickly? What happened at Mysidia? Did everything
work out fine? Why are there other Mages here too, and even our
Elder? What's going on Incentus? I only woke up from a sleep and now
you're back. You can't have gone for more than a few days!"

"Eric, he became a Paladin, and after that, I was allowed back into
the town. I was welcomed with a parade and a warm welcome by all the
towns folk. They've completely forgiven me for the past. And I'm so
happy." he said this with a huge smile on his face. Tears were
running down from his eyes, and he continued. "He defeated the evil!
And now he's speaking with Golbez and all the Palace guard. He's
going to bring peace to this country. Nothing can stop us from
bringing peace to the whole world!"

A brooding feeling was rising up within Felistia as Incentus was
saying these things. And thought she knew not to ignore it, she was
excited and joyful about what was happening.

"So why are you rebelling against the Queen? What has she done wrong?
It looks like you're getting in formation to cast Meteo. Is that
right?" And even as she began to say this, they chanted and prayed
that such a magic would be unleashed. "What's going on? Why are you
doing this? what's happening? Don't kill the queen. She's our friend.
She's on our side. What are you doing?" As if she was chanting.

"Don't.. don't do it." she began to sob. "You're not going to do
this. You're gonna have to kill me before you harm her or her
kingdom. This isn't going to happen" And with that, Felistia ran in
front of Queen Rosa.

"Felistia, get out of the way. You're acting rashly. Don't do
anything you'll regret." stated Incentus. "You're making a fool of
yourself. All we're going to do is incinerate the Queen, destroy the
castle and set our dominion up over this country. Nothing to worry
about" and as he said this, a force began to convince her what they
were doing was right. But greater was her conviction to stay where
she was. And she would not give in. Even unto death. The magic was
cast, and Felistia took the brunt of the explosion. Rosa was spared,
And though she was somewhat safe. The castle still received emmense
damage. The throne room was destroyed to rubble. A gaping hole in the
ceiling revealing the night sky above.

As if something greater enveloped them, Rain clouds began to form,
and disperse their water over the battle field. And the mages left.
Leaving Felistia for dead. Holding on for dear life, she breathed
heavily, bringing forth energy to sustain her in her time of
need. "Hold on..," replied a voice. "You'll be fine. You're one tough
cookie you know that?" echoed a familar voice. "You'll be fine" and
with that, her eyes closed and she did not know where she was being
taken.

----------

Incentus gathered together his belongings as he looked up at the
night sky. To his amazement he could clearly see the starry host,
guiding them on in their journey. *That is a good thought* he thought
to himself. And with that he smiled. "You two," he stated "what is
your next plan of attack" I sense this a time to be in preparation
and defence. We do not know what might be up further this mountain."
With a gap in his speaking, he rested and took a breath. "This is
going to be a tough journey, I can tell you" And with that, he waited
for their response.

ooc: I should really let my hotmail account die. It is so annoying
with so little space.

bic: <"Golbez has been feeling unwell since this morning. I think it
is from over work. You know how he is.">

Rosa wondered what was up between those two. She began to feel a
little nervous.

'What is going on here?'

She looked at her husband and smiled as she tried to calm down.

'Nothing is wrong. I have Cecil and a wonderful son...'

<"Daddy! Did you like the present Aurora and I made for you?">

Rosa smiled as she looked at the gingerbread cookie that resembled
her.

"This is so cute. I'm afraid to eat her."

Rosa marvled at the detail.

"I think I will save this cookie as a treat for later. You better
make more for us though Cedric!"

Rosa cradled the cookie in her left hand. Suddenly, she felt someone
take her free hand.

<"Queen Rosa...You can see me can't you?">

Rosa was so startled by Amasa that she lost her gentle hold on her
cookie. The gingerbread fell as if in slow motion. When it hit the
ground, one arm broke off. Rosa looked down and cried out.

"Oh no."

She would have bent down to pick up the broken cookie, but Amasa was
still holding her hand. He let go of it as he stepped back and Rosa
began to shake.

"What is going on here? What are you doing here?"

Rosa forgot her broken cookie. She didn't know that what she was
staring at did not exist for anyone else like it did for her. She
couldn't get any other words out, but just stared in shocked
surprise.

Cedric just smiled upon hearing his mother's praise. "Don't worry
Mommy, I promise to make you more when I come back home!"

Cecil noticed that his wife also noticed that something was wrong
with Golbez. He wrapped his right arm around her out of reflex.

The children watched as Rosa was startled by something. Cedric had
picked up his mom's fallen cookie.

Amasa looked regretful. "I am sorry for not introducing myself
sooner to you, Your Majesty. Everyone has been mistaking me for my
relatives, Golbez and Cecil. I thought it would be best to introduce
myself later to you properly. My name is Amasa Harvey. You've
probably seen me around in fleeting glances. I was the one who
rescued Mana when someone tried to push her off a balcony. I don't
know what I am doing in this dream. I found your body in the fog and
carried it back to the castle only to find Golbez's body also. I
laid you down beside your brother in law. Everyone in the castle has
fallen under the spell of the fog. I also met up with Queen Rydia
and was talking to her when I was pulled into this dream world."

"Rosa what's the matter?" asked Mana as she was trying to find what
Rosa was looking at.

"This world is not a spell caused by the fog though," continued
Amasa. "This world was created to protect you and Golbez from the
creator of the fog by her, right?" he said as he pointed to Seraphim
Mana.

The seraphim nodded.

Kluya just scoffed.

"Mommy! What's wrong Mommy?" cried Cedric.

"But this world cannot last forever. The seraphim doesn't have much
energy left and ..."

"Darling, what's the matter?" asked Cecil, his voice full of worry
and concern.

"You will eventually have to come back to reality. The sooner, the
more better off you will be. The enemy is getting stronger. I am
betting they were targeting you mainly but since they cannot touch
your mind right now with nightmares, they are going after everyone
else in a much more harsher fashion. Rosa, both you and Golbez have
to believe me and choose to leave here of your own free will," said
Amasa. "The people who love you are worried and waiting for you. You
can stay her a bit longer if you wish but just remember, you have a
life to live. You are alive and have the power to bring a golden age
of peace to the world..."

"Auntie Rosa! Are you all right?" asked Aurora. "Don't worry about
the cookie, we can make you more!"

"I'm sorry," said Seraphim Mana. "This was the only thing I could
think of to protect you and Golbez from the fog. Right now, Queen
Rydia is watching over your bodies."

"What floor were they on?" asked Amasa. "I couldn't see well because
of the fog."

Seraphim Mana closed her eyes. "They are in one of the upper floors
of a tower near the center of the castle."

Amasa let out a sigh of relief. He looked towards Golbez and
Rosa. "Good, we still might have time. A Nightmare took down Garret
soon after he broke out of the fog's spell. There is a solid
Nightmare running around the castle."

~Tilanya~

Tilanya gasped for breath as the sudden cold chill once again
coursed over her skin. The fog still surrounded her as she lay upon
the damp soil, making it almost impossible to get her bearings.
Struggling to her feet, she took two steps and almost fell down,
tripping over the guard that was escorting her to the castle.

Looking down upon the man's face, she saw nothing but pain and fear
in his eyes. More importantly, she saw a gash open up on his cheek
right before her eyes, though no blade came near.

"Poor fool doesn't realize it's just a dream." She muttered,
lowering her hands to his horror stricken face. Concentrating, she
quickly began uttering the spell of Cureara, a potent healing spell
to heal his face. With luck, the magic would make the guard realize
it wasn't real, but that all depended on the guard.

She knew there were two guards with her when she fell, but she
couldn't find the other one, and she didn't want to spend another
second in this fog. Clearing her mind, she summoned a chocobo, and
quickly mounted the large bird.

"I can't see past this fog, I hope you can. Take me to Baron
Castle." She instructed, clutching on to the bird's neck. With a
confident "Wark", the beast took off into the mist.

((If someone is outside the castle they can see Tilanya approach on
the chocobo.))

Garret coughed out more blood. The pain was fading but he guessed it
was because his body was pretty much numb. He slowly, ever so slowly
got up and used his weapon to help him stand.

"Argh, stupid Nightmare Golbez...I so am going to enjoy seeing you
die...ugh..." Garret fell onto his hands and knees
cursing. "Stupid...mortal...body..."

He heard someone approach on a chocobo and recognized the summoner
who challenged Rydia.

"So you broke out of the illusion and woke up as well have you?" he
asked in a loud booming voice.

Felistia woke up in a cabin. From what it seemed, she had been out
cold for quite some time. As she peered around her lodgings she
noticed a wizard's staff *it looks like a sage staff* she thought to
herself, and also a short sword. Woven around the hilt were some
engravings and vines, but from a distance she could not make out what
kind of enscriptions were on the sword. She also noticed who ever had
saved her had left, and that added, by herself. She still wasn't sure
where she was, and so decided to set her bearings straight.

*Now where am I* she thought. And the environment wasn't too familiar
to her either. Legs wobbly, and without much energy or strength in
her body, she stumbled as she tried getting out of the bed *but it -
was- nice of the man or whoever it was to provide lodgings and
suitable protection from the storm* she thought. But even as she
thought, she interrupted herself *storm? what storm? i don't remember
a storm. Just a few crazy black mages leveling the castle, and,
killing me* and with the last few words a chill ran down her spine.
*killed me?* she thought. *now where did that come from?* But she put
the thoughts aside and made her way out of the cabin, admittedly with
a little difficulty.

Outside lay her staff. Also she noticed she was surrounded by an
enclosure of large oak trees. They were towering way above the cabin.
Almost monolithic in appearance. She added in her thoughts that the
cabin stood in stark contrast to the surrounding terrain. Behind her
were some rather large mountains. She noticed them as the Baronian
mountains, which formally lead to the Summoners Village. But she was
wandering, and she knew it. To the south then, she concluded, must be
the castle. And *to the east is a large lake with a cave behind it*
uttered a voice in her mind.

*Why thank you* she thought. It was enough that she was alone, but
now she was confident something had happened to her, atleast in some
way, by what she had recently been put through. She began to pray,
and a new warmth surrounded her. She cast Cure and Esuna on herself,
eliminating any short fall the rest had given her. She smiled and
then began to head south. *now what -has- happened to Baron* she
thought to herself. But greater than her thoughts, something was
leading her. And a peace had rested on her heart, as she continued to
journey.

Golbez glanced at Amasa suspiciously for a moment. It
was incredibly odd that he should know so much about
what was going on. Golbez himself knew this "dream
world" was wrong from the start. But, he'd had much
experience with the forces of powerful magic, being an
extremely skilled black mage. And he'd developed a
certain sense of magic around him.

"Who is the creator of the fog?" Golbez asked,
glancing back and forth between Seraphim Mana and
Amasa. He ignored the young man's last name for the
moment, though he intended to find out if Amasa had
any relation to himself and his brother.

Mana looked at her husband strangely. Who was he talking
to? "Golbez...what fog? Who are you talking to?"

Aurora also gave her father strange looks. "Daddy? What's wrong?
It's sunny today, not foggy!"

Cecil was also perplexed about his brother's behaviour. This was not
normal. What did he and Rosa see that everyone could not?

Seraphim Mana just smiled and looked at Golbez as though he was a
ghost. She turned to regard Kluya.

"Hey, don't look at me like that son! I'm just enjoying the view
here," he said in response.

Amasa held his chin in thought. "The only person who I know who
could do this is..."

****

"Wow! Lookie at this Ken!" said Ryuu as they stood before the
Nightmare fog.

Ken just gave a narrow glance. "Nice piece of work. It covers the
entire kingdom. I wonder how they are doing in there? We're probably
going to find a lot of people will need counselling after this."

Ryuu pulled out a staff. He was dressed in a strange yet formal robe
like uniform. Ken pulled out a long sash and whipped it in the air
to make it stiff like a board. He was dressed in armour that
resembled a dark knight.

"Shall we enter now?" asked Ryuu.

"Yeah, I'm eager to see someone here..." said Ken as he literally
cut the fog with his make-shift sword. He carved a tunnel alongside
Ryuu was they entered the fog. The pieces of fog they literally
carved out shattered into pieces like glass before evapourating as
it was seperated from the main body of the fog.

Ryuu hummed while walking and cutting at the fog. "Like cutting
through margarine with a hot knife," he said.

****

"...a shadow priest, but they don't exist anymore..." said Amasa.

Golbez's eyes narrowed. A Shadow Priest? Golbez
himself was both a Dark Knight and a Black Wizard, but
had never dabbled in the ways of a Shadow Priest.
They had been long gone and Zemus never deemed it
necessary for Golbez to learn the ancient art.

He paid little attention to the dream people. He knew
Rosa could see them, too, so he wasn't worried about
the dream people.

"You can be silent," Golbez hissed in annoyance at
Kluya, "after what you caused in Baron before."

He turned back to Amasa and Seraphim Mana. "How do I
break the dream spell? And who could the Shadow
Priest be? Is it him?" Golbez's eyes flicked
questioningly to KluYa.

Mana was taken aback when Golbez hissed at Kluya. She had mistaken
his annoyance at Kluya for annoyance towards her.

"I-I am sorry Golbez. I didn't mean to make you
angry...Please...please forgive me!" Mana begged. She was truly
scared at her husband's strange actions.

Kluya's eyes then narrowed. "I was a paladin remember? Not a shadow
priest. Shame on you son for being so clouded in mind to make such
an accusation!" Kluya took a quick glance at everyone. "Enjoy this
while it lasts Queen Rosa," he said with a smile before disappearing.

Amasa looked hurt when Rosa was practically shouting at him. "I'm so
sorry. I ..." Amasa closed his eyes and clenched his
fist. "Rosa...please...the people who love and care about you are
worried for you. Please, please choose to leave here and help make a
better world. It appears I also cannot leave here unless you and
Golbez both do. I have to protect Mana. Garret was already taken
down by a solid Nightmare that took her away. That Nightmare can
physically harm the people in Baron who are still sleeping and are
now without means to protect themselves. I have to stop this, but
you have to help me....."

Cecil put his hand on his sword hilt and started to prepare to back
away while Cedric hid behind his mother. "Mana, Aurora, get behind
me now."

Seraphim Mana looked at Golbez. "To leave this world, you just have
to want to leave it. But since both you and Rosa are here, both of
you must leave at the same time. But Golbez, this world...even if it
is made with magic, it is also a reality. It's another world based
on a dead person's memory." She smiled. "So don't do anything rash
in here," she said with a wink. "Leave here peacefully and say what
you want to the people here to clear up unfinished business in your
world. Cecil is dead in your world, correct? Didn't you have
something to ask him? Is there something you want to ask him? Talk
to him about?"

Mana looked at Cecil. "N-no!" she said as she stood in front of
Golbez and wrapped her arms tightly around him. "I believe in my
husband." She turned to Golbez. "Please, tell me what is going on.
Don't hide the truth from me please. I'll believe you. Please...."
tears were falling from her eyes. "Let me help you. I'll do anything
for you! Please just....tell me.....what's going on?"

Subject:  Chase after Rosa

"Mommy, what's going on?" asked Cedric as he peeked behind her after
she finally stopped running. "Daddy can't fight the bad guys by
himself and Uncle Golbez is acting strange. We have to help Daddy!
We can't run! Please! Let's go help Daddy fight the bad guys!"

****

The fog seemed to get darker and thicker...

"Ryuu, we got a problem," Ken motioned with his head from where they
had came.

"Aw nuts...."

The clear path through the fog that they had cut was getting thinner
as the fog was healing itself.

****

----"Don't worry hunny. Everything will bee okay. I would die
protecting you. You know that." ---

"Nooo! Don't die Mommy! I can protect myself! I'm strong too!" cried
Cedric. "I want to fight with Daddy! I'm going to fight with Daddy!
I'm going to help him stop the bad guys!" Cedric checked his bag to
make sure he had some helpful items. "Mommy, you stay here. I have
to go. I can't let Daddy take on the bad guys by himself."

****

Mana was shocked at Rosa's reaction. What was going on here? First
Golbez and now Rosa? What was she not seeing?

Amasa fell to his knees. He was just so tired...He just wanted to
end it all...everyone's suffering ... his suffering...
"I'm so sorry...Rosa..."

Seraphim Mana held her sides in pain. "The fog...it's getting
stronger...I ...can't...."

Cecil stood in front of Aurora. He didn't show it but he was
terrified at his wife's reactions. She was scared to death about
something and Cecil always trusted Rosa and her intuition.

Seraphim Mana looked at Golbez. "Please...explain it to her when she
calms down. I understand how she feels. If I lost you..." the
seraphim cried out in more pain. "I can't stay here and keep the fog
from harming you. Please...please get Rosa to understand..." she
said before she vanished.

Cedric came running up to stand beside his father. "Where's the bad
guy Daddy? I'll help you don't worry. I won't let anyone make Mommy
sad!"

Aurora nodded. "We can't run from bad guys! It would dishonour our
families! Our parents!"

Amasa had to smile at Cedric and Aurora. "So cute...but I'm not a
bad guy am I?" he said even though he knew they couldn't see him.

Rosa couldn't believe what she had done. She was truly a coward. She
wasn't fit to be a white mage let alone a role model for her
children. She was afraid, and she wanted to run away. She was afraid
this world as she knew it would cease to exist if she believed
everything Amasa was saying.

'I can't go back now...can I...?'

<"Mommy, what's going on? Daddy can't fight the bad guys by himself
and Uncle Golbez is acting strange. We have to help Daddy! We can't
run! Please! Let's go help Daddy fight the bad guys!">

"No Cedric. We can't go back. Daddy is strong...he can handle
it...if we go back, you could get hurt...or something might happen
to me..."

Rosa had no idea why she was saying this. She didn't want to let go
of her beautiful son. She didn't want to face what she instinctively
knew was the truth.

<"Mommy, you stay here. I have to go. I can't let Daddy take on the
bad guys by himself.">

"CEDRIC!!! NOOO!!!"

Rosa watched as the young boy wiggled out of her hands and ran
quickly away. He was doing the brave thing. He was willing to face
the evil and fight while she wanted to hide.

"Cedric..."

Her voice choked. She knew she had to go back. However, going back
meant admitting something she didn't want to. It meant that she
might have to leave. It meant she couldn't be selfish and cling to a
life that wasn't hers to live.

"Cedric..."

Tears choked her voice as she ran back to him. She ran back to her
son, her husband, the two people that meant the most in her life.

"Cedric...please never ran from mommy again...please..."

She pleaded with the boy as she fell to her knees on the ground. She
was tired and afraid. She knew she wasn't brave even as she kneeled
there next to Golbez. She was clinging onto happiness like a dying
man would cling to life.

As she looked up at Cecil and Cedric she knew, as she always must
gave known, that it was too good to be true.

She turned towards Golbez.

"I need to say goodbye before I leave..."

Golbez nodded quietly. He couldn't understand the
pain Rosa was experiencing -- it was something he'd
never really understood before. But, he did have
dream Mana to explain things to.

The sorcerer felt kind of silly explaining things to a
dream figure, but the Seraphim had wanted him to do
it. He felt he could at least fulfill that
obligation.

"I am not the Golbez that you think I am," he began.

Golbez told her everything starting from his return to
the planet. Everything the way he'd remembered it.
He told her about KluYa's invasion and corruption by
Zemus, he told her about Cecil's and Kain's deaths.
He explained how Rosa had ruled by herself. He told
her about the Mana on his side of the world, how she
had vanished.

"That is why I must go," he concluded, "The world I'm
in needs my help right now. Baron needs my help."

"Cedric! Rosa!" Cecil was shocked when Rosa came running back.

Cedric wrapped his arms around his mother protectively. "I knew you
would come back. Let's help Daddy! Let's stay with Daddy! I'll
protect you Mommy from what makes you sad..." but after hearing that
Rosa was going to say good bye, Cedric's proud look
faltered. "Mommy? Where are you going? Are you leaving because I was
bad?"

Cecil listened to everything Golbez had told Mana. He was in shock.
How was it possible? How could this be?

Mana took a few steps back and regarded her husband with a smile.
She walked over to Cecil and whispered something to him. He
nodded. "I understand..." he said as he removed his hand from his
weapon. "Cedric, Mommy and Uncle Golbez have to go fight some bad
guys to make this world safe. Wish your mom good luck."

"Aren't you going too Daddy?" asked Cedric. "Why can't we go help
them?"

"Because it's only something they can do. We can't help. We can only
wish and pray."

Cedric frowned but he gave his mom a tight hug and a kiss on the
cheek. "Good luck Mommy! Go beat up the bad guys. When you come
home, I'll have many homemade cookies made for you!" he said as he
stepped back.

"Mommy, is this true? Is it something only Daddy and Auntie Rosa can
do?" asked Aurora.

Mana slowly nodded. "Don't worry. Your Father is the strongest black
mage and dark knight and your Auntie is the strongest white mage.
Everything will be okay."

Aurora literally jumped into her father's arms. She gave him a kiss
on the cheek and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Good luck
Daddy," she whispered in his ear.
"Come back home safely."

After Golbez set Aurora back down on the ground, Mana went up to hug
him. She let go but held his hand against her chest where her heart
was. "It doesn't matter if you think that you're not the Golbez I
think you are. To me, you are Golbez Harvey, a good, kind and
wonderful man. No matter what world you may be from, you are Golbez
and I will always love you." She kissed his hand that she held. "No
matter what life, world or time, no matter what you do, I will
always love you. I know 'your' Mana feels the same way." She then
kissed him gently on his lips before taking a few steps back with
Aurora.

Cecil helped Rosa to her feet and held her tightly in his arms. "I
hate this..." he said.
"Why can't I be with you? Why can't I fight with you?" He kissed his
wife gently yet passionately. "Rosa...I love you so much...Mana's
right, no matter what world or time, I'll always love you." He took
a step back but held onto her hands tightly and reassuringly. "Rosa,
it will be okay in the end. I know you are stronger than you think
you are." He smiled. "After all, you're the one I've chosen to
dedicate my life to. You'll do fine."

Amasa watched as the world start to fade.

"It's okay, Rosa...I promise... It will get better soon..." said
Cecil, his voice fading as the world was disappearing taking him
with it.

"Golbez...something will happen..." Mana was quickly disappearing as
well but she felt she had to tell him something
important. "....fire.....Garret.....your....Baron.........Dark
Lord......fiends...."

And that world was gone. Rosa and Golbez woke up quickly startling
Queen Rydia who was watching over their bodies.

Amasa slowly appeared nearby sitting down holding his head. After a
few moments he walked up to the Queen of Baron and his
relative. "Are you all right?"

BIC: <Suddenly everything disappeared. He found himself back in the
room in the Inn. He layed down and fell asleep. He breifly awoke in
his bed in the Castle Baron.

"That was too wierd," he said, getting out of bed. He was still
dressed in his armor. "I wonder what is going on now." He grabbed
his sword and left his chambers in search of the others.>

He had wandered the halls of Baron feverishly. It appeared as if
everyone in the castle was affected by the fog. 'Why am I the only
one who is awake?' he thought to himself, "This is too creepy..." He
looked down and noticed his sword was glowing again.

"...main chambers..." a voice said to him.

"What was that!" he said, removing his sword.

"...go..."

Everytime he heard the voice the sword turned a strange glow. He
instinctivly ran to the main chambers or the castle, sword in hand,
weary of any unwanted guests. He noticed Rosa and Golbez were laying
on the floor. Rydia appeared to be protecting them, as she raised
her weapon when she first saw Runic run in the room.

"Whoa," Runic said, sheathing his sword, "Don't do anything hastie,
I mean no harm. You remember me don't you?" He looked down at Rosa
and Golbez. A tear shed from the queens eyes. Shortly after the two
had awoken from their dreams.

Subject:  Back to [Baron Castle]

After a long treck through the forests of Baron, steadily making her
way to the Castle, Felistia had an impression as she entered the
Castle. Or was it really the castle? She was clueless to know what
was happening. But one thing she did know. If she pressed on and
further delved into the depths of this mystery, she would find the
answers. Clasping her hands together and praying for a while she cast
a Scan spell that would enable her to better comprehend the
situation.

And as she looked around, she walked forward. Darkness had gripped
her and overwhelming shadow surrounded her as she made her way
through the chambers and passages of the castle. And if it were not
for the heightened senses she received from the Scan spell, she would
have been bowled over by an oncoming intruder. From the looks of
things it looked like a dog with red eyes and flames coming out of
its mouth. *O great, a bandersnatch* she thought to herself. *And
where had she seen these before?* But the thoughts were dissappated
as she prepared herself for battle. Staff in hand, and equipping the
brace armlet she had in inventory, she was ready.

The monster thrust towards her, and with quick reflexes she dodged.
But not without taking heavy energy losses. *I'm gonna have to
prepare myself better next time* she thought. And another attack.
*how am I going to conduct myself properly? Next time i'm toast* She
ran towards the target and with a focused and sure attack she bashed
the monster on its head, sending it dazing, but it head-butted her
back and she fall over, reeling from the attack. Standing up on her
feet she was confused and shocked at what had just happened.

She was exhausted but it looked like the Bandersnatch had sustained
heavy damage as well. Praying and casting a cure spell on herself she
was feeling alot better. And more clear-headed. Smiling she
exclaimed "Didn't think you'd have such a hard fight did ya?" And
with that she ran towards the monster and repeatedly started to
attack 'him' her attacks accelerating as she pushed forward,
maintaing that she could beat this monster if she made sure she
didn't allow it to attack. Where she had received the extra stamina
and speed she did not know, but she wasn't going to stand back and
let the monster attack her.

She was getting quite excited at the challenge. After all, the
monster hadn't succesfully attack her since. And she hadn't had much
battle experience before. *This is going pretty well i think* she
thought to herself. But from behind came a strong attack which
blitzed her defence and left her staggering. She turned around to see
another monster. This one quite a bit bigger than the last. And alot
more fiersome. The attack had drained her of most of her available
energy. All she could utter was a shrill cry at the top of her
lungs: 'Help!' laying down on the ground she hoped that something
could help her in her time of need.

<"I knew you would come back. Let's help Daddy! Let's stay with
Daddy! I'll protect you Mommy from what makes you sad...">

'I'm going to miss you so much Cedric,' thought Rosa sadly.

<"Mommy? Where are you going? Are you leaving because I was bad?">

"You could never be bad my darling. You are like an angel to me. I
love you very much and would never leave you unless I truly had to."

Rosa didn't know what else to say. She felt emotionally drained. Her
eyes were starting to sting from all the crying she had done, and
knowing that nothing like this would ever exist for her again didn't
make parting any easier.

'At least Golbez and Mana still have a chance...they're both still
alive...'

<"Cedric, Mommy and Uncle Golbez have to go fight some bad guys to
make this world safe. Wish your mom good luck.">

Rosa was glad that Mana and Cecil were handling the parting. The
excuse that Cecil gave their son was the truth, and it felt better
to tell the truth than to lie to their child. Still, Rosa knew that
he would never know the whole truth because it would hurt him too
much. The truth was that she was never going to come back to them.

<"Aren't you going too Daddy? Why can't we go help them?">

<"Because it's only something they can do. We can't help. We can
only wish and pray.">

<"Good luck Mommy! Go beat up the bad guys. When you come home, I'll
have many homemade cookies made for you!">

Rosa tried to swallow her tears as she answered,"I can't wait to try
them."

She gave him a huge hug and kiss. She didn't let go of him until a
couple of minutes had passed.

Rosa went limp in Cecil's arms as he supported her, as he had always
done. She let him be her strength as he talked to her.

<"I hate this. Why can't I be with you? Why can't I fight with you?">

She kissed him passionately as the tears broke free.

<"Rosa...I love you so much...Mana's right, no matter what world or
time, I'll always love you.">

"I love you too Cecil. I'll always love you. I don't think I will
ever be able to heal after this. I leave a part of me behind with
you and Cedric."

<"Rosa, it will be okay in the end. I know you are stronger than you
think you are. After all, you're the one I've chosen to dedicate my
life to. You'll do fine.">

The world started to fade around her.

"No!!!!"

Rosa began to scream as she clung to Cecil. "

You don't understand. The world I am going to is just like the
nightmare I described to you. I'm living in a nightmare without you."

<"It's okay, Rosa...I promise... It will get better soon...">

Rosa sobbed uncontrollably as she clung to his fading image.

"It won't get better. Please don't leave me..."

Rosa raised her head one last time and planted a final kiss on her
husband as he faded away becoming only a dream. She awoke lying next
to Golbez with Runic and Rydia watching over her.

<"Are you all right?">

Rosa wanted to scream that of course she wasn't all right, but she
knew that she had a duty. She quickly took a deep breath to gain
control of her emotions and nodded.

"Yes, I'm fine."

She reached a hand towards Amasa and stood up.

"Where are these Night Mares that we need to destroy?"

Before anyone could answer Rosa's question, she heard a scream.

"What was that?"

Rosa decided she better ask questions later, and raced in the
direction of where she thought she had heard the scream.

Golbez would not forget the last words Mana told him
before he left the dream world. Not until this crisis
had finished. He wondered briefly if much of the
dream were a glimpse of part of the future. Cecil had
died already, but he and Mana...?

As he returned to his reality, amid the fog and
darkness, Golbez felt a darkness grip his heart.
Perhaps the influence of the dark sword he carried,
but he felt a powerful tugging upon him, trying to
draw him back to the old Golbez. At that moment, the
sorcerer resolved to fight the pull as long as he
needed to.

"Rosa!" he clambered to his feet and hurried after the
Queen as she ran off. Damned if he was going to let
Rosa just go off like that. He'd sworn to his brother
that he would protect the Queen. Silently, the
sorcerer cursed the fog as he chased after Rosa.

When Garret spoke, the echo scared Tilanya's chocobo, almost to the
point where it took off in the opposite direction. Swiftly leaping
from her mount, she dismissed it with a wave of her hand, her eyes
focusing upon the wounded man. Unlike the chocobo, she held no fear
in her eyes as she replied.

"Yes, apparently with less difficulty than you." She said, eyeing
his various wounds. "I can heal you, but only after you tell me who
you are." She continued, her gaze never leaving the ruggedly
handsome, though bloody man. After her visit to the past, she
wasn't about to trust anyone or anything she saw from within this
accursed fog that held the two. However, before recieving an answer
from Garret, a shrill cry for help broke through the air, somewhat
faintly, but still understandable. "If not, I can always go aide
others, for it seems many need it this night."

((Sorry for the delay, things have been rather busy for me as of
late.))

He had heard the shrill call, too, and glanced in the

Garret got all huffy and puffy when it seemd that Tilanya was
implying he had trouble with his nightmare.

"I'm Commander Fumma of the dragoons and I had no trouble with my
nightmare, I had trouble with someone else's nightmare. It became
solid. I'd watch your back. If one person's nightmare became solid,
that means others can become solid." Garret didn't want to be healed

"Gahhh!" Amasa held his head in frustration. "What is with the
people of Baron, especially the women, always rushing to danger?
This makes my job harder!"

(Don't you think it's cute?)

"No!"

(But it's so romantic. Just like when Rosa ran after Cecil after the
Mist earthquake.)

"I should go after her. I don't trust Golbez with anyone," Amasa
said as he was about to follow Rosa.

(Don't! We have to figure a way to weaken the fog. Just trust me,
Rosa will be fine. Golbez is no fool. He will not hurt the Queen
under such suspicious circumstance.)

"Fine... so do you have any idea what to do?"

Ryuu heard the scream. "Wow, someone got a nice pair of lungs!"

Ken started to slash at the fog towards where he heard the
voice. "Hurry up Ryuu!"

Ryuu took a quick look around. He had the feeling someone was
watching him. "Okay...right...behind you..."

Felistia smiled as she saw her father, running over to him with
joyful expectation of what they were about to do. It was her 6th
birthday and she knew exactly what that meant.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed as she held her arms open wide, running
towards her adorably kind Father, Melchi Cestus. The sun was shining,
and being in the idyllic village of Mysidia grew the welling up
within her soul. To her right were some palm trees and the house of
her best friend. But all she could think about was the surprise that
her Father had for her.

Melchi lifted her up in his arms and smiled back, a graceful and
concise waltz before placing her down on the bench to reveal
her "present"

"You've been waiting for this for a while now haven't you Felistia?"
he asked [being rhetorical in nature, he continued talking] "Both me
and your mum have decided it's time you started your training. You're
such a encouragement to both of us"

The words fading out of mind and space as Felistia was brought back
to the reality of her struggle. *a dream it is* she thought *but it
was a good dream* She peered up as the two monsters assembled
themselves for what seemed a final attack towards their target. What
were they waiting for? And eagerly she awaited what was about to
happen.

of class and I have a huge final I need to study for. :o( I'll play

Rosa nodded her head as she led the way into the fog where the
scream was heard. She had not always trusted Golbez, but so many
things had happened that changed her sentiments she couldn't imagine
not trusting him now. She knew he was only looking after her well-
being, and was glad that she was not alone in this fight.

'I don't know how much I can handle...'

Rosa then stepped out as the fog parted around her and Golbez. She
saw someone she didn't recognize with two monsters about to leap and
attack her.She couldn't tell if the person was hurt, but she would
deal with the healing later. For now, she needed to cast a spell
that would help weaken the villians so Golbez could finish them off.
She thought quickly, still a bit muddled, and decided to cast "Holy"
hoping the creatures would be affected by it.

'I wish I had brought my bow and arrow with me...'

She quickly tried to clear her mind as best she could as she began
the ancient spell. Her hair floated around her head, like a halo,
and a white light formed in her hand. Her eyes flashed blue as she
opened them and shot her hands forward reaching towards the two
monsters. Her voice called out "Holy," and the light that had been
gathering in her hands blasted towards the monsters. Rosa quickly
moved out of the way so Golbez could attack when he was ready.

Ken caught sight of the Queen after she casted her spell.

"Ryuu, over there!"

Before Golbez could react there was a loud shout coming from another
direction.

"Priest's Exorcist Arrow!!!"

The fog in the area was literally ripped away in the wake of the
ghost arrow that flew by embedding itself into a wall and
disappeared. Ryuu fell to his knees to catch his breath.

The small area, now free from the fog for the moment allowed for
anyone nearby to be free from the nightmare effects. Everything made
in the fog was destroyed in that area.

"Is everyone all right here?" Ken asked as he came running up.

******

Amasa was using float and haste spells to drag people out of the
area of fog. His hair colour had lightened so it looked more like
Cecil's again.

"It's almost sunset...and I only got a handful of people out..."

(Some is better than none...)

The person he was carrying out started to come too. "W-what
happened? Where am I?"

"It will be explained after this mess is finished," said
Amasa. "Just don't go back into the fog..." he said as he re-entered

Rosa could hear two people talking in the fog. Her sharp ears picked
up the sound of an arrow whizzing by. However, she knew that this
arrow was not like any she shot with her bow. She watched, a bit
confused, as the arrow ripped away the fog in their area. She saw
Ken and a tired Ryuu. Ken came running towards them.

<"Is everyone all right here?">

Rosa looked towards where the monster had been attacking the woman.
It was as if the monster just vanished suddenly. She nodded that she
was okay, but went to the woman who looked injuryed.

"Let me cast a cure spell on your wounds."

She waited for the woman's response.

Felistia, now in a crouching position, looked up to see her Savior,
Queen Rosa of Baron, of which she was extremely grateful, and showed
that in her smile and reply: "Thanks." With a deep breathe, and a
sigh of relief she continued talking. "I heard some other voices
around, do you know where those monsters are coming from? And maybe
we should check for other survivors as well?"

She picked up her staff, now on the ground, and started thinking.
*Why did they attack me? and why am I here? Why is the castle in such
disarray? Should she start looking for others?* but it was a struggle
to think properly, as something in the fog was disrupting
concentration. "Thank you, I appreciate the help. I'm finding it
difficult to concentrate at the moment. Do you know what's causing
it?"

But she clasped her hands together, summoning the energy to bring
forth protect over the two of them. She could hear the droplets of
rain from the outside, and the sound of feet walking along the paving
just close to them both. Felistia stayed in the position she was in,
cautious that something else may happen needing them to fend for
themselves. She held onto her staff and looked gazingly into the orb
at the top. And there she lapsed into dream for a long moment while
pateintly waiting for more help to come

Ken gave Rosa and the others a quick look over.

"You guys look all right. Not too shabby...Anyways, we have to make
sure a fair amount of people are woken up. It's not safe for anyone
right now with many sleeping minds."

It didn't take long for Ryuu to catch his breath. He instantly
hopped to and hugged Rosa. "I'm so glad that you are okay!" he said
while crying a waterfall's worth of tears. "It's so dangerous now
and everyone will be worried!"

Before Ken could reprimand Ryuu for unappropriate conduct towards
the Queen of Baron he heard a sinister laughter coming from ahead of
them. A shadowy figure kept on coming closer but then stopped at the
border right before their area that was fog free.

"Heh heh heh...."

Ken was perplexed. "An old mad scientist?"

"Heh heh heh...Master Golbez...there you are....you left so suddenly
before I could ask you what to do with that girl you brought me..."

Ken's hand immediately went for his weapon and he stood in front of
Rosa. "Mana will kill me if anything happens to you. So would
Kain...."

Ryuu's eyes widened. "Golbez is a bad guy? Wahh!!!" he said while
also hiding behind Ken.

Ken was looking at the mad scientist as if trying to remember
something. Something about that mad scientist...it was too creepy...

(....yeah, it's been crazy following Cecil around. You won't believe
what had happened. This crazy old man...the King and Queen of
Eblan.....I hate ninjas but it wasn't right...I felt sorry for
him...)

Ken's eyes widened. "Oh by the gods...You're....where's the girl?
Where is she?" his face looked paler than normal. "Where is the girl
Golbez gave you?" he cast a death glare to him.

"Ken! Ken!" Ryuu was tugging on Ken's clothes. "Golbez...he ...."

Ken looked at Golbez. A cold feeling went over him. "You didn't give
that mad man Mana did you?! Did you?!"

****

Amasa looked around in the fog for more people he could easily take
away from the fog. "This isn't helping..."

(But the fog is slightly weaker than it was before...the less people
it can feed off from, the better it is for us.)

Amasa sighed. This was going to be one long night.

(We need more white magic power....)

"Agreed."

OOC: Aiiiee, gomensama! >_<() I'm SO sorry for not posting, its
just I felt I was a little too far behind to catch up, but now I've
gone through the posts, and I'll work on being better about posting.

IC: Chrissa sighed, staring at the fire. With the creepy guy giving
the coal to them, she almost expected something to happen. Maybe
Eric was right, and he was just helping...
It was starting to get darker, as the dragoon fell asleep. Eric was
still staring at the fire, until he was convinced that Incentus was
asleep as well. Then he got up, taking up Excaliber's sheath,
quietly making his way from them.
This was something he had to do alone. Eric crossed the high
bridge, keeping his eyes on the strange-looking building ahead. So
this is where Cecil became a paladin....
Taking a breath, he put his hand upon the seal. Whether it
responded to him or the sword, he couldn't tell, but suddenly he was
pulled through.

The interior of the room took Eric's breath away. All glass, with
mirrored walls. As amazing as this was though.. Was that all there
was?
<I shouldn't expect too much.> Eric thought. <All that should be in
here is here...>
He touched the mirror, just to see if this were some sort of trick
wall. No. Just decoration.
He went to one knee, drawing the sword that Cecil once had and
holding it before him. "Oh gods, or whatever spirital force holds
these grounds, I came over the Mountain of Ordeals and into this
chamber seeking the power of the paladin and of this sword of light.
I realize a sword in itself is only a tool for the bearer, but I
hope to keep the namesake of this sword as a righteous tool. And I
ask not for this power for show or fame... but for the strength to
be able to defend those I love from those who would torment them. I
fear a darkness is taking over my home kingdom, and if nothing else,
I wish to provide hope for these people."

------------------------

Edward opened his eyes, blinking slightly. Then he sat up suddenly,
looking over his arms and running his hands along his face. "It was
a dream... It was all a dream.." relief seemed to strike him,
although he still had to keep himself from shivering as he
remembered that dream.
Anna... was attacking him...she was tearing him to pieces as he
pleaded her to stop.
<... Anna... Anna would never do that to me...> he told himself. He
realized he was in the room that they had been taking care of Runic
in... Most of the others had left though.
The Damcyan King stood up shakingly, going outside. In the hall,
there were several people also groggily waking up, or some even
still asleep.
<I better find Rosa!> he thought running to the ramparts.. Thats
the last place he remembered Rosa being summoned to.
