Some People ask me how or what I do to make my coin and XP. These are some of the things that I do to help me get ahead. |
The Hally 2 Step. I use a +9 STR Halberd as my main weapon. The hally reaches out to the next hex over. Gather a large number of crits and drag them to a location such as a room. Then move and then strike while walking in a 4 hex box pattern. Striking and moving, striking and moving until they are all dead. I can take on 30 crits and solo Barney that way with little or no damage. It might take a little longer than toe to toe fighting but it works better and you can carry out more loot. |

Coining. I take all gems, protice/protfire bottles and other things not worth breaking to be sold. I don't care how many trips I make to the stores. I usually make about 140K GP per trip average. In an hour of hunting in Thumperville, I will make a meg of coin. I am never broke and my trainer is fully paid. I love it when crits go and hunt my favorite dungeon and leave all those gems and stuff behind. Money in my bank account. Cha-Ching! Whats 200 GP for twigs compared to 80K worth of gems? hehe |
Helping others. Helping others is just in my nature (being a Taurus). The good thing about that is (besides helping others) is that by doing that, I help myself. Advertising my ICQ number and my site, partying with others, having races, being in a guild, answering questions if possible, even casting prot discs helps me to better my crit. I started the GDA for just that purpose. What is the GDA? Good Deeds Anonymous. I help non-begging crits with things. Later on, they will help me in some way. Don't laugh. It works. |
Gathering XP. I use a "farming" techinque when hunting. I found a good spot in Thumperville and I make a run back and forth across the top half of the dungeon. After I use the Hally 2 Step in each room, I close the door to box in the regenning crits. By the time I finish making the run, the regenned crits in the first room are ripe for the picking. hehe. Being a Barbarian, I can break items for XP. I break all items such as bows, morningstars, darts and special items like MA Gauntlets, Camo Cloaks and other things. Some items aren't worth much XP but when you break all consistently, it adds up in the long run. When it seems like I have hunted all the crits to extinction, I take a tour of Thumperville to wait for regen. By the time I make a loop around, the regen is pretty good to go again, I make a trip to the stores to unload about every 10 minutes. Making a meg XP per hour is doing pretty good, Huh? |
Skilling your crit. Consistent killing of monsters is important. Going on hunts is ok but ask yourself, do I really need to hunt this lair crit or will hunting the dungeon crits be more benefical to my raising of coin/XP/skill? Balance your play time in this way. Killing a lot of dungeon crits nets more than lair crit hunting. |
Wasting time. Thats a bad thing. Some say to stack your dead crits then search them. Looking, picking up and tossing the crit in a pile takes up more time than just searching. When "farming" a dungeon, find ways to cut down your time between trips. The more trips, the more you are ahead. Make macros to save time on tasks. Take a party in to take on crits instead of soloing. |
