“I see that
you did.” Kathryn said seductively as she stared at his crotch.
He blushed. She stepped
forward again as her hands went to his jacket zipper.
He stopped her before his jacket was completely removed.
“What the
hell’s going on here?”
“Isn’t it
obvious?” She giggled at him, but her eyes told another story.
Those beautiful blue eyes reflected a deep passion.
Something that Chakotay had never seen in her before.
He felt the heat of his body rise involuntarily in response. A single
bead of sweat slid down the side of his face.
“You’re
sizzling. Let’s see if I can cool
you off.” She pulled at his
jacket once more as she licked the damp trail left on his face.
As the jacket fell to the floor, the Maquis in Commander Chakotay took
over.
This is not Kathryn, but who is she?
She took his shirt and began to lift it off.
“Captain,
you’re needed on the bridge. The
ion storm has strengthened and we’re having trouble breaking orbit.”
Harry’s voice rang through Janeway’s comm badge, which had been
placed on the table.
Janeway
looked at Chakotay expectantly. He
waited for her to answer.
“Go ahead
answer it.” Her voice gave away
her frustration.
He cautiously
instructed Harry. “Reroute all available power to reverse thrusters.
I’m on my way.”
“Aye,
Sir.” He waited for her to
take action but she said nothing.
“Your duty
calls, my sweet Captain. I’ll
have to finish this another time.” She
thinks I’m the captain of Voyager, Chakotay thought.
He stared at her in disbelief. He
felt it best to play along with her. He
nodded in agreement, but remained silent. Grabbing
his jacket, she handed it back to him. She
nervously looked at the floor, trying to think of what to say that would help
the situation. Something was
bothering him, but she could not figure out what.
She finally looked back up at him, with that crocked smile of hers.
“Will you
let me into your cabin so I take a bubble bath while you’re away?”
He smiled at
the thought of her covered in bubbles.
“My tub is
your tub.” His smile grew larger.
Memories from New Earth reminded him of how much she enjoyed a good bath.
She kissed his cheek in thanks. He
headed for the door, but she stopped him. She
was in front of him before he knew what was happening.
Her lips pressed to his, then she gently sucked on his lower lip leaving
him stunned. She stopped almost as
quickly as she had started it.
“To make
you hurry back to me.” She explained with a mischievous tone. This time he left, but he could hear her laughing to herself
as he went out the door. His
fingers went to his lip willing the tingling sensation to go away as he walked
to the bridge. He was thankful for
the walk it took him to get to the bridge.
It gave his body a chance to relax and his mind to think out the
possibilities of what happened to his Captain.
“Computer,
locate Captain Janeway.”
“Captain
Janeway is in her quarters.”
After the
crisis was easily averted and Voyager was now at a safe distance from the
planet, Chakotay turned his focus on Janeway.
“Tuvok,
I’d like to speak with you in the ready room.”
The Vulcan lifted his eyebrow in curiosity.
The Commander rarely called him after his shift was over.
And even more rare was the fact that Chakotay was using the ready room.
But the most unusual was the Captain’s absence on the bridge.
“Tuvok, I
believe something may be wrong with the Captain.”
“In what
way?”
“She
wasn’t behaving like herself when I saw her last.”
“Could you
elaborate more.”
Chakotay
blushed slightly at the thought of explaining to his chief of security that the
Captain had tried to seduce him.
And almost succeeded, he reminded himself.
“I can’t
actually pinpoint it.” He omitted the direct truth. “But for one thing, she seems
to believe I’m the Captain of Voyager.”
“Most
curious.”
“I don’t
want to alarm the crew just yet, but I need you to help me determine if she’s
an impostor or just delirious. I’m
bringing her to sickbay in the morning, but in the meantime I’d like you to
have your teams be on the alert for anything out of the ordinary. ”
“I’d like
to be notified when the Doctor has any results.
I can then determine my line of interrogation.
In the meantime I will review all the logs during the time the Captain
was on the planet.”
“Agreed.”
Her father
belonged to Starfleet, so naturally she had followed in his footsteps. But her
loyalty had been to herself, not Starfleet, her main objective revenge.
In it’s beginnings Starfleet seemed to be a promising organization with
high ideals, but something had gone wrong.
Many admirals had become corrupt and the ideals quickly lost, only to be
replaced by an overriding policy of domination.
Her father had put in for an early retirement, the only option for him to
leave the armada without causing suspicion and retaliation. But it came too late. In
a shuttle on their way home to Earth, her father and fiancé were attacked by
the Maquis. A rebel action to
attract attention to their cause. Janeway
made it her mission to end the Maquis movement, even if she had to do it one
ship at a time. The Liberty had
been no exception, as she had lead the Maquis ship into the Badlands.
Her plan was to lead them straight into an ambush.
But as fate would have it, both ships were pulled into the Delta
Quadrant. Her ship was quickly
seized and she was thrown in the brig. It
was there that she discovered from her undercover friend, Tuvok that her
father’s death had not been at the hands of the Maquis, but of Starfleet’s.
“It appears
that I have erred in my judgment of the armada.”
Tuvok’s simple statement had caused her whole world to turn upside
down. If had not been for
Chakotay’s trusting nature, which appeared in offering her the position of
First Officer, she would not have survived the betrayal.
A major turning point in her life took place, in what was now his ready
room, as they shook hands at her acceptance to his offer.
Janeway was so captivated by her counterpart’s logs that she didn’t
hear Chakotay’s entrance.
“Planning a
mutiny again?” He asked he jokingly, but his laughter stopped quickly when he
saw how startled she appeared.
“No… I
… was just making a log entry.” He knew she was lying.
“Kathryn,
I’ve told you before, if you want to read my reports just ask.”
He was slightly irritated or tired; she couldn’t quite decide which.
“I’m
sorry, Captain.” The word tasted
bitter in her mouth for some reason. “May
I please have access to your logs for the past two weeks.”
She hoped to appease him, and give her the vital information she needed
at the same time.
“That’s
much better.” He smiled.
She waited, but he made no move to comply with her request.
Instead he began to program the replicator for their dinner.
He indicated he expected her to join him.
As they ate he questioned her about the mining mission she had finished.
He was deliberately ignoring her request for the logs, and that angered
her. She answered all his inquiries
hoping they would fit into what was expected on this ship.
They moved to the couch for coffee, and she finally couldn’t take it
any more, bursting out her accusation.
“You want
me to beg for the reports, don’t you? Or
was it just for me to be obedient the Captain.”
She sounded harsher than she had intended, be he paid no attention to it.
He pulled her onto his lap and took her chin in his hand, making her look
into his eyes.
“There’s
only one instance I want to hear you beg.”
He was sensual yet serious and she became overwhelmed with emotions.
His desire for her ran deep, but deeper yet was his love for her.
“Computer disable Chakotay lockout delta six phi. Give Commander
Janeway full access to all my logs and files. Resume lockout.”
“Acknowledged.”
He smiled at
her. Begging for files was no
longer required. His eyes made his
next agenda clear. When his hands
began caressing her sides and she quickly jumped off of his lap, almost falling
to the floor. He stood up as well,
mistaking her actions as eagerness to get to the bedroom.
He took her hand pulling her into the next room.
He moved in to caress her again, but she stepped back.
He gave her a questioning look. She
desperately tried to think of a reasonable reason why she didn’t want to make
love with him without causing suspicion. She
blurted out the first excuse that came to mind.
“We
can’t. My cycle…”
He chortled
taking her hands in his.
“When has
that stopped me before?”
“I… ah
…well... I… ” She didn’t know what to say.
The tried and true excuse of ‘woman’s problems’ had failed, what
was she going to do now?
“You’re
still mad at me, aren’t you?” He
charged.
Okay.
She decided to run with it. She
tried to look angry. “Of course,
I’m still mad.” I
only hope you’ll tell me why.
“Kathryn,
you disobeyed a direct order and crashed a shuttle, what was I suppose to do?”
He was exasperated with her.
“I did what
I thought was right.” She countered, at least now she had an idea what she was
arguing about. An old saying her mother used to say came to mind, and she
hoped it would be true tonight. Never
go to bed angry.
“I’m not
debating that. But you disobeyed an
order. I would expect you of all
people would understand. How would I explain it to the crew if I didn’t reprimand
you for that? She’s my lover so
that makes her immune to regulations. You
know I couldn’t do that. Our
personal relationship can not interfere with the workings off this ship.”
It was hard
to argue with him when she agreed with everything he had said, but she had to
keep the conflict going. She took
another guess.
“I think
your punishment went too far. You
overcompensated because of it.”
“I think a
week in the brig was fair.” His
anger was all but gone now, his smile returning.
“Besides, it a punishment on me too.
Do you how many times I wanted to go to you in the middle of the night,
relieve the security guard and make love to you in your cell?”
Oh no, he was
going back to a subject she wanted to avoid.
She maintained her angry pout hoping it would work.
“You made the decision, you have to deal with it.”
“Fine.”
He gave in, amusement in his voice. “I’m
a patient man. I’ll be right next
to you when you decide to forgive me.” She
let out a breath of relief, thinking he was dismissing her to her quarters.
She went to exit the bedroom, but he grabbed her hand.
“Not so
fast. The last week you’ve slept
alone in an empty cell, I won’t let your first night out of the brig to be
alone too.” He lifted the covers
for her to get into the bed. She
gave him a wary look.
“I won’t
change my mind, just because I’m lying in your bed.” She told him
defensively. She hoped this would
end all his thoughts of sex.
“I know you
won’t.” She knew of no other
way out of this situation, so she climbed into the bed and threw the covers over
her head. He removed his clothes
and entered the bed on the other side. He
pulled her close to him, wrapping his arms around her.
He whispered into her ear.
“I missed
you, Kathryn.”
She remained
silent and still. She was thankful he drifted to sleep rather quickly and
loosened his grip.
He actually pondered at how stiff she became in his arms. She never behaved like that before, even when she was angry with him. He released her slightly and worried about what was troubling her.
