These are gestures. Gestures are quick, simple drawings that can be used to warm you up. Using these can help you with finding good poses for your characters. They work especially well when creating action poses. Gestures are done rather quickly; usually 30 seconds or less. If you take longer, you're probably thinking too hard. You needn't worry about detail. Just focus on putting something on paper. If you're a beginner, a good idea is to get sketchbook and practice by doing about 20 gestures a day. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will be with drawing people. |

Once you've gotten the hang of quick gestures, you can try your hand at longer timed gestures. These should take anywhere between 2-5 minutes. The premise is the same; quick and simple drawings, but with a little more emphasis on detail. You don't have to include everything, Just enough to show basic clothing and facial detail. |
