Combat Procedures

Definitions

Private - Conversation window between Ref and Player.

Public - Window between Ref, Players and Spectators

Note: It is easier to understand combat if one simply reads a transcript or enters a battle themselves. Our referees will aide you through the process and you'll be fighting in no time.

Duels and Spars

WARNING!: Battles beginning without a ref will have all participating players punished by stat drop.

Pre-Battle Stage

1. All parties invited to Public.

2. Private Windows Opened.

3. It's polite to change you screen name to something shorter than a full line of text.

4. Description of Battlefield read out unless the combat takes place in an area the combatants have been to before or if the details were sent in a briefing. Time limit noted.

5. Those with dial-up should warn all that they could be disconnected easily.

Combat Stage

1. Priority is awarded to the Combatant with the Highest Agility, unless that difference is within a small degree of points, in which case it should be randomized.

2. Priority Combatant takes action.

3. Dependent on condition and time it takes the Priority Combatant to complete the action, Victim is given a chance to retaliate. Randomize to determine what happens, using sense and stats as guides.

4. Victim takes action and Priority defends.

5. Repeat from 2 until situation changes Priority or battle is ended.

Post-Battle Stage

1. The referee will give out upgrades to stats.

2. If a player is very injured, win or lose, the ref will specify how long, usually in days, they must spend in Regen (that would be the hospital). Don't worry, the Deious have a public health card system - you won't have to pay.

3. Players dismissed.

Missions

Military personnel will often be placed on missions. Missions are a roleplayed scenario in which players must accomplish certain objectives. They will be narrated by a ref (or two) and any combat situations will be handled in true DC fashion - though the players should be mindful that they should rush fights (military grade weaponry and the element of surprise will aid this).

The pre and post sequences are more or less the same as with duesl, but the main phase is slightly different to account for several characters. Each character will be put into a bracket with like-speed characters on both sides. So, there might be a group of Really Fast runners, a group of Slow runners and a group of Really Slow runners. The groups will rotate control (Really Fast -> Slow -> Really Slow -> Back to Start (Really Fast again)) and Priority will rarely change from this.

Mass Combats

Mass Combats simulate large scale battles, ranging from a brawl between 10 people to snub fighter encouters, to full scale, all out battles with so many simulated participants it would boggle your mind. Mass Combats will be limited to a max of 20 contenders this season as we will require a custom computer program for larger. Details pending.

Roleplayed Scenarios

Roleplayed Scenarios are simply conversations and actions roleplayed given the scenario, which might be anything from a get-together to a military briefing. There really is no procedure.
