Basic Requirements
For the moment, Drayn Combat requires only these things to
play:
- An email account, preferably Hotmail (see below).
- An Instant Messenger (preferably MSN Messenger or something
that can communicate with MSN Messengers - see below).
- A browser that supports JavaScript.
- Players may choose to use our Akheva.com message board. We
occasionally use the board to post news, but its really for
discussion. Just wanted to point this out in case someone out
there has an objection to Akheva for any reason.
- The more reliable alternate to the Akheva board when it comes
to news (though we recommend you use both) is the CoolList mailing
list. Again, just in case someone has an objection to mailing
lists or CoolList.
- You are not obliged to sign up for both of the previous two
services, but we must ask that you take at least one of the
two.
- Punctuality. There's nothing worse than waiting for someone.
Keep your appointments or your character will suffer.
MSN Messenger is this game's IM of choice. This is because MSN is
easy to come by and because the majority of our referees have it.
Also, if you want privacy, you can create a whole new Hotmail account
and use it only for the game (of course, logging in about once
monthly to keep it active. You can also redirect messages from this
account to your own using a certain feature in the Options menu). The
only other acceptable IM is ICQ of something that can contact ICQ,
but we don't like it as it doesn't transcript as well (the errors
we've had haven't helped). Anything else, AOL Messenger included, is
not allowed until we have a referee with the program.
Soon, we'll have our own IM programme.......but until that day,
MSN will do.
