The Great Folly of all Human Existence
To school, to work, we all must go
These give our lives a cause
We live our lives in such a way
As to cover for our flaws
We do as we expect we must
We do as others say
We let our lives be thus controlled
Restrained in every way
For when one looks at all one does
How often do we see
A life that’s full of meaning great
A life of jubilee?
We don’t, as we, in truth, do not
Have meaningness in life
We do the things we think we should
Which frequently cause strife
Our jobs, our school, our work at home
To what ends does it lead
We seldom solve great problems
And are oft caught up in greed
Are we to think we’ve changed the world
Have we changed history
In truth, we’ve all but cried out loud
Watch this, the life of me!
We oft are all self focused
We never think globally
We hardly see the needs of those
Who need our help totally
We still remain caught up in this
Our quest to live for us
We often miss the point which is
To be the cause of trust
In order to impact the world
We must prove who we are
For if we cannot be trusted
We hardly will go far
We must give up our foolish thoughts
That we are all that’s there
We should instead give time to see
God’s creatures everywhere
If we observe the world around
We’re sure to see true pow’r
And if we let our thoughts impound
We’ll then dark things devour
