Hypocrisy
“I love you dear,” the woman said
Before he drifted off to bed
But little did her husband know
Of who she’d meet and where she’d go
The night was young, the air was free
And so the wife left him to be
Then off she went, out of the door
To see what others held in store
The first stop led her to a bar
She drank thick ale with thoughts elsewhere
The barstool made her feel alone
And so she went to someone’s home
A knock, a tap, door opens wide
The one she knew she’d see’s inside
They wink, they smile, than they undress
They laugh now, for they know the rest
With drugs, the peak is maximized
They both swirl round with half glazed eyes
The act complete, they dress again
And talk together, as with friends
By 2 a.m., she leaves his house
She tiptoes quite as a mouse
Once out the door, her mood does change
She suddenly feels very strange
For at his house, she’d felt so good
The drugs had loosened up her mood
But now the truth stares in her eye
And suddenly she wants to die
She realizes what she’s done
She sees the price that comes with fun
She thinks of all her loveless sex
And pauses as her mind reflects
But then, she turns her thoughts away
She cannot stand them when they stay
She’d much prefer to live in sin
She feels the drive for lust again
So on she goes to twelfth and Cass
Where she can make some quick fun cash
She sells her body till the sun
Reminds her that the day’s begun
So back she goes, spoons him in bed
Her other hand lies by his head
And when he wakes, opens his eyes
She coos, “I love you dear! No lies!"
