I know that I am a new acquaintance of
Pat's and did not know her as your community did but we shared
many things. One of these was about Ford cars - I had one and
have now replaced it with another Ford - our shared comments,
were so similar it was amazing.
She
always put me to shame, I only had to comment on an aspect of
our education system and before I knew it there was a response
with attachments. Like you, I felt I was going day by day and
she was working not just weeks ahead but months
ahead.
The comments from Pat that stand out most in my
memory was after I had been to Egypt and sent her some photos -
how lucky I was. Yes, I was. I was also lucky to share that trip
with her, I am just so sorry that I was not able to share my
trip to China with her because I know that she would have loved
the photos and the commentary.
Her love of teaching and
care for her 'children' were obvious in her
communication.
I will miss her quips and her
consideration.

My name is Vanessa
Lucas. I was one of Miss Shelley's students in the years of
1999-2000. She greatly inspired me to learn. If I had a problem
with one of the subjects she never put me aside, she always helped
me every time.
Miss Shelley is my
favorite teacher. I was greatly depressed when I heard about her
departure from us. It was like losing a friend but only she was a
teacher, but she was a friend to all of students in the years that
she taught. I will always remember her. Thanks Miss Shelley!
