They battle some more and then Stevie threw turtle out of the ring. After that he grab his little box of toys and told the Super Friends to bring the table over to him. Stevie then tested out some new cookie sheets and put turtle on the table. Stevie then went to the top but took to long for Turtle was there to meet him. Soon both were on the turnbuckle and both feel at the same time threw the table. The ref said that told this to the commissioner who said that this match had to continue until one wrestler went threw the table. So the match was restarted and they went after each other. Stevie set Turtle up for the Stevie Driver only to have Turtle break out of it. Then the two wrestlers battled to the top of the Landing with the cameraman again, and Stevie tried to suplex Turtle from the landing but instead the Nerd then went for a power bomb. After that Terrence and Stevie were in a punching contest with Stevie losing both the contest and the match when he lost his balance and fell threw the table. Finally, Inferno locked up with Ricky and Sprague kicked Inferno and then threw him into the ropes. Inferno was out powered by Ricky Sprague and was getting tossed around the ring. The Kid finally got some offense on Sprague when he locked the Wild One into a submission hold, while he was doing this he tagged in Travis Deal, but the ref for he was seeing if Ricky was going to tap out or not. Travis then took over and dominated over Ricky. Ricky came back and tried to climb the ropes, but was cut off by Travis. Deal then distracted the ref by bringing out JT Wilcox. While the ref was trying to get JT back into the corner Travis and Inferno double-teamed Ricky Sprague. The ref then was back into the match and Royce told him that Inferno and Deal tagged bringing Inferno back in. Inferno then took down Ricky with a suplex and then went up top to hit a moonsault on Ricky Sprague. All Inferno got was a two count. After the match, Lacey jumped in to try to help Pete, but Ashley Xavier also jumped in the ring and got a good pop for stopping Lacey. The women pushed each over until the referee got in the middle. Action Alan Jackson February 7, 2001 20 Questions 1. How and when did you get in the wrestling business? After dropping out of college after the fall semester of 1998 at Concordia University of Wisconsin, I came home and just worked and worked out. After a while I grew bored of just working out for no reason, I was used to working out and having a game that weekend. So I searched for something to do. I can't play basketball so that was out. This group had a wrestling show on public access called the Brawl, now known as Rebels of Wrestling. They offered training so I called and hooked up with them. That was February of 1999. They wrestled in the TV studio on a wooden platform and used these ladder thingies to jump off of as turnbuckles. I didn't think anything of it. I just wanted to wrestle and the training was free. I showed up to the tryout and we learned how to bump in a boxing ring. For those of you that don't know, a boxing ring has a steel post about 10-15 inches in circumference where the spring would be. Very, very stiff. My training consisted of bumping and learning a Russian Leg sweep and from there on, I was on my own. I was booked on the next three shows after day one. They bought the old AWA ring from Al Patterson and boy it was much stiffer. The worst ring I had ever seen. I wanted to get on other shows because as I watched our own, they were sucking very badly. So I sent out some tapes to a few people and posted a classified on Whoowrestling.com. A few people contacted me. Some guy from World All Pro Wrestling, a guy named Trevor who ran the Triple Crown Wrestling (which was our low level-cross town rival) and a guy named Steve Blaser who went to high school with Adam Pearce. The Blaser guy told me that I looked okay, but he could tell that I wasn't trained, and I thought that I was, I mean I did go to practice, right? But he told me how to hook up with some people and that's how I hooked up with NAWF, around October of 99. At first, I wasn't even part time. I would just go to shows, help set up, take some bumps and went to camp maybe once or twice. Personal issues forced me out of wrestling for 5 months, I disbanded from the Brawl in January of 2000 and hooked up full-time with NAWF in mid-April of 2000. Been there ever since. 2. Describe Alan Jackson, the wrestler, to us. I really hated to hear this question. I don't know how to answer this. I mean, I don't have a gimmick. I don't blow fire or do kung-fu kicks. I just come out as a babyface and slap some hands, act like I'm excited to be where I am and kiss some babies. Typical baby stuff. 3. What are your strengths in the wrestling business? I think my strengths are that I listen very well. I am very capable of pulling off any move someone wants to try and any spot anyone wants to do. I don't get blown up in the ring, I take pride in coming to a show in shape and ready to go 20 if need be or longer. I think I am pretty OK at selling for people and making them look strong. I don't know, too modest I guess for this one. I am pretty good at getting rats. 4. What have been your top athletic accomplishments other than professional wrestling? I was an All-Conference defensive end in High School, and was second in conference in the 400-meter dash in track in field. I played one year of college football and track and field. I still have 3 years of Fall and Spring eligibility left to use. I do intend on returning to collegiate sports soon. To hell with the NCAA, I will do both at the same time. I won't get in trouble, the school does, so to hell with it. Why not? 5. Who is your favorite all-time wrestler? My favorite would have to be the late and great Blackhart, the last beating hart, Owen Hart. He was so funny, he did everything so technically sound. I loved to see him and his brother Bret do battle. I loved when he and Anvil always tried to break up the family, that was hot. He and Jeff were probably the best tag time that had the ability to out work anyone on the face of the Earth. He had taken those shoot-work matches with Shamrock and made them more than interesting, it takes a great worker to do that and he was that worker. I hope he is resting in peace, truly gone too soon. If anyone has any footage of Owen feel free to contact me, I will trade for it or buy it. E-mail to:aljaxn@hotmail.com. 6. What is the best match you've ever had? All my opponents have been great, but I guess the one with Lord Humungous in Jefferson back in October was my best. I just felt like I had a lot of sympathy after taking that high ass back drop. The crowd gave heat when they should have, Stefano was on cue with his own interference, they would ride the heels and cheer when I made a fight back It was just one of those matches where when you walk back to the back, you feel like you did everything you planned and everything went well, kind of a natural high mellowed out feeling. Not like a changing shoes type of ordeal. 7. What is the first card you ever saw live? Holy cow, the first card I ever saw live was WrestleFest 88, Milwaukee County Stadium, the Rougoues, Demolition, Bret, Bad News Brown, Ravishing Rick Rude, the Killer Bees. It was f'n awesome dude. Hogan in a cage against Andre the Giant, the Warrior putting Heenan in that bunny suit. Best show I have ever seen. 8. What is the best match you ever saw live? I can't remember where I was last week or even yesterday, but I guess the one that sticks out is the one at the Bradley Center where the Mega Powers broke up, and Hogan carried Elizabeth back to the back and Randy took a beating and then came looking for Hogan in the back, that was hot. 9. Quick comments ... a) Rockin' Randy Truly can't say enough about the guy. I can honestly say that I will train with him for years and years, he knows too much about wrestling. He is a walking theory machine and has the respect of many, many workers. He is truly a very nice guy, rescued me from the backyards. Currently making me into a good wrestler. I owe him a lot for understanding my circumstances, he does take the time to know what's going on in the lives of his trainees, which means a lot. Very old school, I like that. By far the most veteran worker around with the exception of Rich and Trevor and doesn't try to use his veteran-hood to sh*t on people, which I'm sure goes on in some territories. Truly loyal to him and can't say enough. I like the after camp chats where he tells us the lesson of the day so to say. We usually stay for an hour or two while he tells how to conduct ourselves in the business and how watch out for certain things. Great family man. Has a lovely wife and two daughters that he has the time for all the way until he walks out from behind the curtain. That rocks. b) Adrian Lynch Looks like the cats ass now. He has busted his ass in the past year or so to shed some pounds and has done so in a tremendous fashion, looks awesome. You have to respect that. A great story teller and joke machine. Had a blast riding to Iron Mt. with him. Needless to say, one of the best workers around. You can learn a lot from watching him. He can carry a loaf of bread to good match. Someone book it, in the main. c) Eric Freedom Ole' Freedom, well, well, well, the stud muffin. He always has some ribbing to do. Has pulled the wool over my eyes more than once. He is a great guy to watch and learn from. I think he is a big kid though, he smiles while taking a beating, he has fun all the time. That rocks. A hell of a guy to know and clown around with. A great teacher at camp. Treats everyone with respect, and everyone returns the favor. Has been doing this Atomic Abs thing and is starting to look great. He showed them to me and I have been doing them ever since, ask him to show you. They work well. d) Mike Mercury He's OK I guess. We really don't talk much but we always say hey and kid around. e) Dave Herro The only guy I know that can wear a Hawaiian shirt and still look cool in it. Had a blast riding to Iron Mt with him, Longtime and Lynch. Is booking me for a match on his show, so I appreciate that in the upcoming month. A great talker and joke machine also. f) Skullkrusher Went to high school with his younger brother, he is a good guy too. Is recovering well from his accident and I'm glad for that. A proud member of the "meat on her bones" club. g) Derek St. Holmes, Esquire The best gimmick on the Indies. One of the best workers on the Indies. You can learn a pantsload from watching him. His chain wrestling is very fluid and he can do it and keep it interesting, which is hard to come by nowadays with people's attention spans being so short. I would love to see him work guys like Regal, Benoit or Bret. I didn't know until a short time ago, but he is also a proud card carrying member of the "meat on her bones" club. h) Eric Hammers A good guy with a lot of ability. Always has some good ribs on hand. i) King Kong Bundy A great guy and easy to approach to say a few words to. I didn't realize we had something in common. When I wrestled at the brawl, I always showed up with Combos and Gatorade. The next show, the Combos and Gatorade are on me. j) Adam Pearce People always fed me opinions about him. I saw him at a MAW show for the first time person to person and thought "who is this cocky, obnoxious guy?" When they told me who he was, I thought the things were right. Then he came up to me and introduced himself. I then changed my mind on him. Anyone who introduces themselves can't be all bad, as you talk to him, he's not cocky or obnoxious, he's just very forward. I can accept his personality because you know he acts that way because he is that way, and not being fake with his personality. That's real and acceptable, I hope he is doing well in Cali. k) Sgt. Medallion Don't know him well. Did ride to the last show with him though. Is very cool guy to talk to and has been booked on a lot of our shows lately, hope he sticks around, good to watch. l) Matt Longtime My best friend in the business, we ride to all the shows together. I learn a lot from him through questions I ask. He also tells me how to conduct myself in different locker rooms. Which shirts to avoid, all that stuff. I like to wear LWO shirts and says that's being a mark. Went to Concordia with him, he just graduated, congrats. A defiant member of the "meat on her bones" club. He likes them so skinny that they can do a push up under a door, swallow a Skittle and look 9 months pregnant. Won't try 'em with junk in the trunk and a little bit of spunk. Easy to watch and learn from. m) Angel Armoni A good guy, you have to know him to know that he is! A very sarcastic talker but doesn't mean any of it. He always has a plethora of ribs to spout off at the drop of a dime, that rules. I have seen him 1,000 times and only seen him mad once. At a Morty show against some Windy City goof. I think his name was Rockin' Ronny Sunshine or some sh*t like that, he was the sh*ts and we had a blast laughing our ass off. I had never seen the Colonel so mad after wrestling someone, it was classic. He is a good friend. n) Craig Smith Craiggie2Dope. A very good friend, me, him and Kennedy Online "KOL" often chat online. He was the best worker on Morty's show and I'm glad he left and legitimized his career with Gagnon. Hope to see him work other Indy shows. He is a ref. o) Jimmy Kennedy James "Online" Kennedy, brother lives online. Haven't seen him on lately though. Is another good guy to know and talk to. Excellent ref. Great hospitality, thanks again bro. One hell of a slow driver, though. p) Haku I'm going to miss him ribbing me for falling asleep in the bar in Iron Mt. I was knocked the f*ck out. I had a long weekend and never had driven longer than an hour straight. That was a 5 and a half hour drive. Then I had to wrestle. He was a great guy to be around also, looks great and congrats on the contract with New York. I'm glad that they are treating him with veteran respect and making him look strong because brother is still in great shape. Wish him well. q) Red Lightning I don't know him well, but has an annoying laugh if I have ever heard one. He is cool though. r) Kevin Krueger We joke around at all the shows. He is so cool it's not even funny. I am jealous though. He got to work Owen, but he doesn't have a tape. s) Mason Diggs Diggs is cool. He is always trying hard out there and does a good job. I like him a lot, has a good sense of humor, too. t) Brandon Blaze Easily the best student at camp. I only met him when I came back around the second time, but we have gotten kind of close since. I really look up to his ability to come up with spots at the drop of a dime, high spots at that. Would love to work him. u) Scott Wiesnewski The orchestrator of the Brawl, Rebels of Wrestling. Gave me my start, didn't know about theory or anything else but did give me my spot to start. I left on good terms, and I do thank him for that. Made a lot of buddies and we still keep in contact to this day. Hope he doesn't take any of this personal. It's not a rip. v) Tommy Rox Rox is a good guy, likes 80's pop music and that rules. I love "Electric Avenue," "Whip It" and all the hits of yesteryear, that's music. w) Steel Phoenix/ Major Steven Payne/ Private Area The three disbanded from the brawl to greener pastures along with me. They took a lot longer to make the jump, but eventually did. I'm glad that they all worked out also, and didn't blow out. Not that I'm the cat's ass but just like a job, you refer someone and they show drunk or not at all, it makes you look bad. They all are great students and coming along nicely. Phoenix and Area also just graduated, congrats. One other person made the jump but he reneged and went back after one week. I guess being set on fire was more appealing. He has a huge feud going with Peter B. Beautiful. x) Jerry Lynn A great guy to have on a show and in the locker room. He is a truly classy guy to meet. I wish him well on the interviews he is having for spots in the big two. y) Rough Ryder Rashaan Another former backyarder from Milwaukee. He used to wrestle for the Triple Crown group that changed their name to something or other. The guy who trained him claimed he had been trained at the powerplant. That was the same group that the guy died in the ring in Sussex, WI this past summer. A lot of mobility for a guy his size. z) Tough Tom A great guy to watch. He is so crisp and snug with everything, great to watch and learn from and should be on TV. aa) Chaz Kildare I hear he is a wrestler, has good newsletter. email to:chzkildare@yahoo.com to join. There is a great shoot going on in there between "Superstar" Tiny and the Legendary Morty, back and forth they are going and it's really heating up. It's like Micheals Bret Hart, check it out. bb) Tank Thomas Don't let his size fool you, he is a great big ole teddy bear. A great family man too, his son comes to all the shows and they are both always side by side. Role model for the young workers that have kids. cc) Trevor Adonis Still looks great. I have always liked his look, even when I was a mark just going to shows in Cudahy. He is also booking me on an upcoming show and I thank him for that. dd) Danny Dominion He was the first veteran that I wrestled away from the promotion and I was so nervous and he was so nice. That rules. Great guy, hell of a worker, I learned a lot from working him. Made me feel as if he were there to make me look good when it was me who was there to make him look good. I hope I did well. Nicest guy. ee) CM Punk I really don't like the raggedy guy type of look on wrestlers but on Punk, you couldn't give him anything else. He just looks like James Dean "Rebel without a cause." He just looks like the guy who has five years of high school, still in freshmen English in back of the class smoking and playing with a pocket knife. High school punk. He is an awesome worker and I haven't seen more than five guys in the indies who can get instant heat like him. They just love to hate him, he peeks through a crack in the door and they yell at him. Mic work is gold. Begs for a fight and they get all riled up, good f'n heat getter. Worker's hair: two minutes in the ring and it looks like three hours. Cool. ff) Chuckie Smooth Good guy to talk to, always ribbing and looks good now. Really working hard in the gym and it shows. gg) Dino Bambino A great flier or acrobat if you will. I totally mark out for anyone who does a 450. hh) Jim Gagnon I don't know if this will be out by the 24th or not, but he has granted me a tryout match on that date and I thank him for that. Has a good looking promotion from looking at tapes. ii) Rob Van Dam/ Lance Storm Never met either of them but I just thought I'd mention that they have great workouts on their websites. I do them both one month at a time and switch. jj) Morty Everyone talks about him but is truly a good guy Sure he posts that wrestlers can't get into his shows for free anymore and then shows up to the ROW show with 12 people and leaves because he couldn't get comps. But he is still a nice guy. kk) Red Neck Rick Third worst wrestler ever. Got his eyebrows burned off in a match, I guess it's better than getting them shaved off. ll) Mamula Second worst wrestler ever. mm) Ed Riley Worst wrestler ever. With a little bit of work, the last three guys can be as good as the Missouri Tiger Jeff Gaylord someday. Then again, maybe not. nn) Camp Students Last but not least. The boys at camp really bust ass and I love em all to death for it. Coming from where I came and now being where I am is so great I can't explain it. There are about 15 or 16 of us and we all work hard. 10. What has been the highlight of your wrestling career so far? I have no specific ones. I guess just wrestling every month. I hope to get more experience. I feel like I learned something after every match, so I guess learning is the highlight so far. 11. What has been the low point of your career? a. Being out of the biz for 5 months. b. Reffing 12. Who would you really want to work with locally and nationally that you haven't? Locally, I would like to rework the people that I have but those I haven't would include: CM Punk, Cabana, Dino. I don't know who else. I'm drawing a blank right now. Nationally, Barry Horowitz, Benoit, Crash Holly, Kane, Prince Albert, Kidman, Whipwreck and Jeff Jarrett. 13. Who has been the biggest influence on you in the business? Maybe Randy, I don't know, not many people know about the wrestling, but Randy always encourages me to do things and keep trying. Plus, like I said, I learn a lot from him just through talking. 14. What do you "mark out" for? I mark out for old school wrestling, arm bars and head locks. I mark out for 80's music, stupid ass marks who don't like indy wrestling because they think it's fake and what's on TV is real or that the indy boys are no bodies because they don't know how stupid they sound, babyfaces from the 80's. Longtime and Skullkrusher rib me because I was the kid in the 80's who loved all the babyfaces and hated all the heels. I was a mark, what can I say? I was 6 or 7 maybe even 9 or 10. I loved Demolition though, they are the greatest tag team of all time. I hated all the heels but I loved them. I also mark out for super crappy wrestling and pointless shoots. I went to a Power House Pro Wrestling show back in the summer at the Miramar and let me say this, it's 3 blocks from the second largest college campus in the state and they never draw over 15 people, that sucks. If you haven't seen a show, you should. Everyone is entitled to see just one. Some others and I saw this one. We had the time of our lives. There were only 6 other people there that didn't have any ties to wrestling. The show was a definite reason to not commit suicide. I mean, the workers on that show have it worse than anyone thinking of ending it all. A definite end all cure to Chronic Depression Syndrome. It was the drizzlin shits. It was like the shit hit the fan and splattered in all our faces. I hadn't ever seen wrestling that bad. I have seen bad matches, but never bad shows. I may catch some upcoming ones, I haven't been feeling good lately and I need a confidence booster. Each match seriously had at least 3 blown spots. Man, it's a must see promotion. But according to the shoot in the Blademark newsletter, his workers are leaving him, they are disgruntled and forming together to walk out. They are fed up with not getting paid, all the shows they do and no payday. They aren't taking that shit anymore. PHPW workers, remember the Alamo and scream from the Heavens, "Atica, Atica, Atica!" 15. How much time do you spend on wrestling each week? If I'm conscious, I am 9 out of10 times thinking of wrestling. If I'm watching television, 9-10 I'm watching a wrestling tape.15-plus hours a day. 16. What is the one thing that surprised you most about the wrestling business? How hard it is for young workers to get matches on other shows. I thought it was a community where bookers would more than happily give tryouts but that's not the case. You have to know someone everywhere. 17. Give us a brief summary of your career. Broke in with the backyards in Feb of 99. Took break from wrestling from Jan-April of 2000. Rejoined NAWF in April 2000. Had debut on June 30, 2000, against Lynch. Of course he won. 18. What is the one thing you would most like to improve on? My ability to think up spots at a quick pace, or spur of the moment. Raise my charisma also. 19. If you could book one match, what would it be? I would have booked me in a 3-way against Owen and Barry Horowitz, so in place of Owen, I hope Benoit would stand in for him. Me-Benoit-Horowitz, in a round robin match. 20. What is your goal in wrestling in 2001? To continue wrestling more matches, I am very lucky because on our show we have a lot of guys to learn from. Say what you will about any of them, but there is no denying their workrates. Randy, Freedom, St. Holmes, Longtime, Lynch, Medallion and Tough Tom. It doesn't get much better than that. Upcoming: Nick Mondo, Sgt. Medallion, Mike Geuke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Midwest notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Around the horn West Allis, Wisconsin, government officials have decided to crack down on Mid American Wrestling, and are now attempting to prevent the promotion from holding more events at the Knights of Columbus. They have cited an ordinance which pertains to adult entertainment/strip clubs and are claiming that, due to the fact MAW presents a live show in conjunction with prerecorded music, etc., that since MAW does not have a similar license that strip clubs must purchase in order to operate, the company is in violation of the law. MAW plans to fight this action, and return to the Knights of Columbus in the future once it is determined that this ordinance does not pertain to professional wrestling. Promoter Carmine DeSpirito, in addressing this issue on the mic at the 2/3 Knights event, proclaimed that regardless of whether or not MAW loses its main venue due to this, the promotion will live on, simply at a different location in the Milwaukee area. While the matter is settled, MAW has been forced to cancel its scheduled 2/17 and 3/3 Knights cards (thus, the next event will be 3/4 in Kenosha at The Brat Stop). ... On 2/3, Travis Lee and Red Lightning worked in Springfield, Illinois, for New Midwest Wrestling. "Tasty" Travis Lee with G.Q. Masters III, defeated Shark Boy. NMW tag team champions, Luscious P. Coltrain and Dredd Walker defeated Red Lightning and Nigel Mcginnis in a tag title match. ... IWA Mid South Wrestling at the House of Hardcore in Charlestown, Indiana, had a card that saw Hy Zaya beat Chris Hero; Ace Steele & American Kickboxer & B.J. Whitmer went to a three-way draw; Jerry Lynn beat Colt Cabana (Lynn replaced Justin Credible) in what has been reported as a very good match; Suicide Kid & Corporal Robinson beat Rugy Baker & Shadow Kid in a thumb tack match; Ian Roten beat Shank Dorsey in a fans bring the weapons match; and Mitch Page & Mad Man Pondo beat Rollin Hard & 2 Tuff Tony in a rope barbed wire match. ... In his Winnipeg Free Press column and also published on Slam Wrestling website, ECW's Cyrus (Don Callis) didn't have kind things to say about the 15 Minnesota wrestlers who worked the 1/27 television taping. He wrote: "IWA (Indigenous Wrestling Alliance) had a successful second television taping at the Winnipeg Convention Centre last week. Best match of the night featured former ECW World Champion Jerry Lynn (who got a tremendous reaction) squaring off against Dr. Luther. The card was excellent up to the intermission but the matches after the intermission, unfortunately featured some American wrestlers, some of whom were a little out of their element. Other great matches involved newcomer Michael Shane (cousin of Shawn Michaels) and perennial favorite, The Gimp. Look for the next IWA taping to take place in April." ... On February 2 and 3, local indy wrestlers Kujo, Kevin Krueger, and Brandon Blaze, as well as referee Jimmy Kennedy, worked for Bert Prentice's NWA-Worldwide in Nashville, TN. On Friday night in Columbia, TN, Brandon Blaze beat Kujo; Chris Michaels beat Kevin Krueger; also on the show was Former ECW stars Christian York and Joey Matthews. On Saturday night in Nashville, TN, Hot Rod Biggs defeated Brandon Blaze. In the opening round of the TV title tournament, Kujo defeated Lance Dreamer. Chris Michaels defeated Kevin Krueger in TV title tournament action. "Lightning" Lonnie Lane defeated Kujo in the semi-finals of the TV Title Tournament. Jimmy Kennedy refereed most of the matches on each show on both nights. *** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good places ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris Dady's Minnesota wrestling website: http://www.minnesotawrestling.com.
