Sargent:
Anyway, I love the Haunted Mansion. The exterior design was different, a bit more castle-like than the antebellum mansion of New Orleans Square but its great. I like the extra "creep" factor. I did miss the long hallway you pass though to board the doom buggies but saw they added some of those elements later in the ride. The musical score needed to be cranked up as it has gotten muddy and couldn't be heard in some places.
Spending time with these "Happy Haunts" is one of the best things to do in the park. Spend a few moments checking out the tombstones in the outside line (especially a fairly new one for "Grandpa Marc". This is for Marc Davis, one of the original Nine Old Men, who passed away a few years back. He is most famous for animating Maleficient among others.)
When you are done and exiting, try to find the wedding ring of the bride of the manor. It is embedded in the cement. Here is a link to an Adobe Acrobat page that shows you exactly where it is. Brides Ring
Kid Grade (G): Suitable for most ages. Don't push your kids if they think it is too scary. There are dark parts, ghouls that pop out from behind tombstones and the creepy bride in the attic.
Disneyland people will know that if CA is your primary park and then you go to Florida, the map in your head does not work. Things on the left side of the park primarily are all changed around, there is no New Orleans Square, no Matterhorn, Haunted Mansion is where Big Thunder Ranch should be and Thunder Mountain is where Splash Mountain should be. They have Liberty Square and it messes you up. Use a map. It will save you time.
