Liberty Tree Tavern

OVERALL RATING: B-

Note:  All A ratings were given to superior gourmet food.  A+’s were only given to food that actually made us make noises of joy.  In my roommates’ case, anything that made her cry (in a good way) got an A+.  Above average, very respectable food received B ratings.  C’s were average food that was a cut above McDonalds.  D ratings are of the processed, fast food variety and F’s are things that I would not feed my dog.

NOISE LEVEL - Moderate.  Not too bad for a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.
KIDS - Lots but no disturbances that we heard.
ATMOSPHERE - A rustic colonial Inn.  They call your name and state when you are seated – The Sargent Family from the Colony of Virginia….  However it depends who is sitting you.  We did not get announced.  Humph.
COST - Moderate $

Maryland Crab Cakes - A pan-seared Blue Crab cake on fire-roasted corn succotash and Bay tarter - $7.25   (B+)
Nice, a very respectable crab cake.

New England Pot Roast - Braised beef in burgundy wine & mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable - $12.75  (C+)
Not a bad pot roast.  It was good but not wonderful.  I could make a better pot roast at home.  Veggies like celery, carrots and potatoes stewed with the meat would improve this a great deal.  The veggies were a tad salty.

"Two if by Sea" - Buttermilk batter-fried shrimp on Vermont cheddar grits with Martha's bacon greens - $16.95  (C+)
OK, this was not horrid but yet again, my last lunch before getting on the plane and I pick another off note.  While the shrimp was large and tasty, the grits (the sole reason I ordered this dish) were not only thinly spread on the bottom of the plate (not much of a serving) but were Soooooo salty!  Shades of Tuskers.  What is with the Mouse and SALT?!  Now I must say that our waiter fretted over what do to and offered to bring me rice.  Then the manager fretted because I wasn’t eating much after they brought the rice.  I had them box it and I ate it on the plane.  This is a case of trying to make things right but the cook should have been shot or at least made to eat this whole pot of salty grits.  Now if the manager were that upset they could have given us a free something.

Apple Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream - $5  (A-)
YUMMY!!!!  Very nice!  I took this for the plane ride as well.  The apples were firm.  Not mushy, not too hard.

Star-Spangled Spectacular - Our own frozen Specialty Drink served in a Liberty Tree Collector's Mug - $7.95  (A-)
It’s like a frosty blended orange/creamcicle with a souvenir glass you can keep. Very nice.
