Note: All A ratings were given to superior gourmet food. A+’s were only given to food that actually made us make noises of joy. In my roommates’ case, anything that made her cry (in a good way) got an A+. Above average, very respectable food received B ratings. C’s were average food that was a cut above McDonalds. D ratings are of the processed, fast food variety and F’s are things that I would not feed my dog.
SERVER - (We don’t remember so I’ll
call him Ian) He was VERY nice! Gave us tastes of things when
we were undecided. Very knowledgeable and fun.

Chocolate Mousse With Raspberry Coulis
- $4 (A-)
Lemon Posset With Chilled Lemon Crème

NOISE LEVEL – Moderate. We
were inside but the noise was not bad at all. Not until 2 small girls
started screaming and fighting over who would get the yellow crayon to
color Pooh with. Since I am always interested in peace and quiet,
I took the yellow crayon from our table, took it over to the other table
and gave it to the child that did not have a yellow crayon. Problem
solved. They were coloring and not making noise . Everyone
was happy.
KIDS – See above.
ATMOSPHERE – Wood paneled English
pub with seating on the patio overlooking the lake. There is a separate
bar so you can get nibbly bits and have a pint without getting a full lunch.
COST - Moderate $$
Flaky pastry with a selection of three different
kinds of mushrooms including shiitake and button, it was a wonderful starter.
The sauce was rich but not heavy.
Chilled mild white and blue cheeses with
seasonal fruit. Personal preference was for more tepid cheese temperature
but the selection was still very good.
I asked for my meat rare and it mainly was.
I really missed having the Prime Rib on the lunch menu (one of the best
deals on property I thought) so I had to settle. This was a nice
dish. Don’t expect a Thomas’ English Muffin. These are denser
with less nooks and crannies. Very tasty.
Very good. The suggestion is to ask
for Brown Sauce (Worcestershire sauce) and mix a bit of that in.
It helps give this dish a robust boost.
The mousse was light and fluffy. Not
dense and the raspberry was a refreshing side.
The custard was nice and not too tart.
The berries were excellent, especially the large blueberries.
