Yachtsman's Steakhouse (Dinner), Yacht Club
Overall Rating = A-

Note:  All A ratings were given to superior gourmet food.  A+’s were only given to food that actually made us make noises of joy.  In my roommates’ case, anything that made her cry (in a good way) got an A+.  Above average, very respectable food received B ratings.  C’s were average food that was a cut above McDonalds.  D ratings are of the processed, fast food variety and F’s are things that I would not feed my dog.

NOISE LEVEL – Moderate and increasing.  The tables were a tad close but not bad.  I believe the increase in children added to the increased volume level.  Not in a negative way (crying, screaming), just that there were more little voices being excited instead of staid adults.
KIDS –  2/3 of the tables had children.  It seems that there is overflow into this establishment with the closing of the Galley.
ATMOSPHERE –  Elegant, nautical theme.  A lovely resort.  The glass fronted meat locker shows you the meat selections. They all look so good, it’s hard to choose.
COST - Moderately Expensive  $$$

Oysters Rockefeller with spinach, bacon and cheese  - $11.50  (A-)
This was very yummy.  The spinach and cheese were plentiful and there was not too much bacon to overpower the taste.  The only problem – where are the oysters?  Some were so small that they were lost within the large shells stuffed with spinach.

Oak Grilled Flatbread with Sirloin, Caramelized Onions, BBQ Sauce, Thyme and Blue Cheese - $9  (A)
Nice, very nice.  The sweet onions and BBQ sauce compliment the spice of the thyme and the bite of the blue cheese.

Tomato & Buffalo Mozzarella with Basil Leaves - $11  (A)
Good representation of a standard dish.

Surf & Turf 6oz. Filet Mignon and 8oz. Warm Water Lobster Tail with Garlic Smashed Potatoes - $50.00  (B+)
I must admit that I had high expectations for this restaurant in regards to the meat.  This was our last dinner of our trip.  That being said, I was a bit of a let down after the big build up in my mind.  I figured that a Steakhouse would have the best steak.  Not true.  Jiko’s beef tenderloin swept the floor with this steak.  The meat itself was good quality, a very respectable steak but it was cooked a tad more than I wanted.  The lobster was also a tad overcooked which made it a bit dry.  That was disappointing.  The potatoes that I had heard tell about also didn’t impress.  There was a bit too much pepper.  I couldn’t taste the garlic, only the pepper.

Beef Medallions with Mushroom Sauce - $30  (A-)
Very tender and flavorful.  The vegetables and the sauce paired nicely without becoming overpowering.

Dessert Sampler - $10  (This is a sampler of most every dessert they offer in miniature.  I recommend this to get a nice taste of everything.)

Jack Daniels Mousse Cake – (A)  Thin chocolate on the outside, white cake on the bottom and JD flavored chocolate mousse in the middle.  Excellent.

Crème Brulee – (B+)  A nice, pedestrian vanilla brulee.  Not a standout, but respectable.  For more of a kick, mix it with a bit of the passion fruit sauce that is on the plate.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cake – (A)  A wonderful Christmas dessert.  This has a “warm” taste in your mouth.  A hint of ginger and spice accent this delicate cake.

Raspberry Sorbet – (B+)  Refreshing, not too cloying but not special either.  Above average and light.

Biscotti – (A-) A nice sweet yet crunchy “cookie” dipped in chocolate.  It almost had a slight ginger taste to it.
