Chapter 39 *In Dong Wan's Dream* "Dong Wan…" he heard someone gently called his name… Lami… It was Lami's voice… "Dong Wan…" "Lami?" he called out. He slowly opened his eyes. "Lami…" He started to cry once he saw the girl that he loved with all his heart. Lami gently brushed his tears away. "Don't cry…Remember that you promised me that you would be happy?" Lami asked gently. Dong Wan shook his head. "I said that only with you," Dong Wan answered. Lami shook her head. "I have to leave soon. I just came to see you for the last time," Lami answered. "You're the last person that I want to see before I go." Dong Wan looked at her face. "Where are you going?" Dong Wan asked. "Some where far…some where…very far away," Lami answered. It seems as if her voice was getting more and more distant. "Lami…" Dong Wan called out. He wanted to reach out to her but somehow he couldn't. "Promise me that you would live and be happy? Promise me?" Lami said. The vision of her was getting thinner and thinner to the point that the background behind her was slowly becoming visible. "Lami," Dong Wan whispered as he shook his head. "Please. Don’t leave me, Lami. I can't live without you." "You could. You still have so many friends," Lami answered. "Don't be angry at anyone for this…I did this because she was my friend. Promise me that and that you would be happy. Please…please…" Suddenly, her voice and the vision of her disappeared. Just then, Dong Wan tried to reach out and hold on to her but there was nothing there anymore… *********************************************** "What happened to him?" Kang Ta asked on the car. "I don't know," Hee Jun said as he steered a sharp turn around the corner. "Min Woo just said the things that I told you a few minutes ago." "What would he dream of that would possibly cause him to be like that though?" Jae Won asked. "No one other than Lami," Hee Jun answered matter-of-factly. "Who else could cause him to go hysterical like that?" "But Lami already passed away," Woo Hyuk said. "You think that I would be able to know why he broke out like that?" Hee Jun asked. *********************************************** "Lami…Please don't leave me," Dong Wan whispered under his breath as he drove to the graveyard. There were tearstains all over his face already. He had a feeling that he could see her again if he went there…He had to go to her tonight…It was probably the last time that he would see her… *********************************************** "Lami," Christina whispered as she looked at her one of her best friends' tombstone and she started to cry. Sung Mi patted her on her shoulder. Clouds was watching coldly from the side. Suddenly, the three of them heard a car drove up. They turned around just in time to see Dong Wan walk out of the car. Dong Wan first looked at the three girls in confusion and then the anger could be seen from his facial expressions. "Clouds…You are Clouds," Dong Wan said, gritting his teeth. Clouds just nodded without saying a word. Dong Wan looked at her with hatred. "I don't care if you are Sharon or not but you are the one who caused Lami's death. Lami told me not to blame Sharon but she never told me to not blame Clouds. You are the one who brought about Lami's death." "I wasn't the one who told the killers to go there," Clouds said. She wasn't trying to explain but she doesn't like it when people say something that she didn't do before. "But they were trying to kill you…Or else they wouldn't have aimed for Sharon and Lami didn't have to save her," Dong Wan said as the tears filled his eyes again and he clenched his fist. At this time, from behind Dong Wan, a car drove up and parked not too far from the scene. Out of the car, the people of Shinhwa stepped out. "Dong-" they stopped when they saw the other girls at the scene. "Sung Mi," Jun Jin whispered under his breath. Thank God that nothing happened to her! She might have gotten a little skinnier but nothing really bad. She wasn't hurt or anything. "You're Clouds," Min Woo said with a definite voice. Clouds didn't say anything. "Why are you here?" "Isn't it enough that you already sent Lami to her death and now you have to come and dirty her grave!?" Dong Wan yelled. "You think that I would like to come to this place?" Clouds asked with a snicker. "If it wasn't for these two, I wouldn't want to come here at all." She was indicating Christina and Sung Mi. Dong Wan made a move to go and attack her but the rest of the people held him back. "And I don't admit about that thing about me causing her death; she was trying to help out Sharon, not Clouds." "Same thing! If you two didn't have the same freaking face, if not the same person, they wouldn't have killed Lami when she tried to save you," Dong Wan yelled as the rest of the people tried their best to hold him back. "I never asked for her to help Sharon," Clouds said. "But you could've been dead if it wasn't for her," Dong Wan yelled. "She wouldn't have," suddenly someone said from the dark. All of them turned around and behind Shinhwa, standing there, was Alex with Grace holding on to him. His injuries didn't fully heal yet. "She would have enough speed and sensitivity to get out of the way before the bullet would hit her…" Alex said as he looked at Clouds. "Alex…" Clouds said in a low voice. "I can't believe that you would do this to the team…How could you betray us…How could you?" "I was a police before I joined the team…" Alex said. The first person that she had loved…the first person that had caused her to break her rules about falling in love… "Is that why you joined at the first place?" Clouds asked coldly. Alex lowered his head and nodded. "I can't believe that you would do this to us…" "You never harmed me…And you were always good to me…This is the last thing that I could really tell you…Don't go to the main meeting place tonight…" Alex said. Clouds first stared at him. The people didn't really know what she was thinking until it seemed as if something dawned on her and she looked coldly at Alex. "You told the police the main meeting place didn't you?" Clouds hissed. Alex looked at her and then slowly nodded. "You were always somewhat like a friend to me…That's why I don't want to see you get hurt…That's why I told you…" Alex said painfully. Clouds stared at him for a long period of time. "ALEX!" they suddenly heard someone scream from behind Clouds. *********************************************** Chapter 40 "Alex! You traitor!" Rain screamed as he held up a gun to Alex. There were a few more people with him. Some of them were hurt. It was obvious that they were just a combat. "How could you do this to the team!?" "It was my job…You people were killing innocent people because of money," Alex said as he shook his head. "You killed people yourself, Alex!" Rain yelled. Alex shook his head again. "I didn't," Alex answered. "They are all now in a safe place…They are said to be dead but they are not." "You…" Rain didn't know what to say anymore but he was burning with fury by this time. At this time, the other people from SM, Shin Ji, and some police cars pulled up. "Alex, you ok?" Shin Ji asked as she ran over to Alex side with a gun held up toward the people from Messengers of Death. Alex nodded. As for the people who have just arrived: The people looked at Clouds in shock as Sharon gasped. "You are…" Sharon said as she pointed at Clouds. "Your unfortunate twin sister…the one who was chosen…" Clouds - Celeste - said coldly. Woo Hyuk looked at her, shocked. "You…you can't be…" Woo Hyuk whispered. "Why can't I be? Why could she be your sister and I can't be?" Celeste said as she looked at Woo Hyuk menacingly. "But the doctor…" Woo Hyuk said. "Have you ever heard of lying?" Celeste hissed. Woo Hyuk fell a step back. Chibi held on to him. "Why…why didn't you come back to us then?" Sharon asked. "You think that I can? Where do you think the Messengers of Death is? You think that you could leave whenever you want to? I wasn't the one who was lucky enough to get out of all this!" Celeste said as she looked at her sisters and brother. "Why am I always the one like this? Why can't I be like the three of you?" "Three?" Sharon and Woo Hyuk asked together in surprise. Celeste let out a short laugh. "Did you forget about Hae Jin?" Celeste asked in a voice that was near to a whisper but loud enough for everyone to hear. Sharon and Woo Hyuk looked at her in shock. Grace stared at her with her mouth opened. "You never knew that these two people were your brother and sister?" She started to laugh. "You didn't know?" "Sharon unnie…Woo Hyuk oppa…" Grace said slowly. "Hae Jin?" Sharon and Woo Hyuk said at the same time. "Hae Jin is…Grace?" Sharon asked slowly. "You people would never understand the things that I have gone through…Because you would never have the chance to…" Celeste said as the tears fell down. "Not only did I lost my family…both of the people that I had ever loved…loved my sisters…" She looked at Alex first. The first guy that she had ever loved…never loved her… She then moved her head a little and met up with Kang Ta's eyes…He never loved her… "You never forgot her…" indicating Sharon. Kang Ta shook his head. "I…I thought that I could fall in love with you…I never knew that the feelings that I had with Sharon never went away…I'm sorry," Kang Ta said. Celeste shook her head. "You never gave me promises…None of you did…Who am I to blame?" Celeste asked gently. All the people were in their own thoughts…Because of this…They forgot that there was someone else at the scene…someone who wanted all of their lives… "…three…" a voice that was low…but enough for Celeste to hear. She quickly turned around and saw that the bullet was aiming toward her so she ducked it. Brian pushed Shin Ji aside before the bullet got to her. "Rain…" Celeste said with fury. "You were always trying to eliminate me." "Of course! You had the highest position…Why? You are a female! How could you occupy that position!?" Rain yelled as he continued to fire the gun. All of the people started to run. This was the place that Fae fell down the cliff… "Take different paths!" Alex said lowly but enough for the people who were on their side to hear him. *********************************************** "Dong Wan…" Dong Wan heard his name being called. He had accidentally fell over a rock, hit his head, and fell unconscious. He looked around him. He suddenly saw Lami in front of him. There was a dim light that surrounds her as she stood before him. "Lami?" Dong Wan called out her name. He was almost sure that it was not a dream. He pinched himself hard and it hurts…That means…Dong Wan tried to touch her. But all he managed to touch was the air. Lami shook her head. "I'm not part of this world anymore, Dong Wan," Lami explained. "You can't touch me, nor can I touch you…" Dong Wan thought that he could see some tears in her eyes. "I'm leaving now Dong Wan…For real this time…" "Do you really have to leave me?" Dong Wan asked. Lami smiled gently. "Yes," Lami answered. "I don't want to either…but I have to…It's the way that it is…we can't change that." Dong Wan looked at her and started to cry. "Don't cry. Take good care of yourself…I'll always be there looking after you and all the other people…and praying that you'll all be well…Good-bye Dong Wan…my love." Then, she disappeared. This time, there was a feeling in his heart that he would really not see her anymore… *********************************************** Fae and Jae Won were running through the trees when suddenly Fae stopped to run. Jae Won looked at her and saw her holding on to her head. He quickly looked around and was relieved to see that no one was behind them. "Fae?" Jae Won asked gently. Fae shook her head. He looked at her with a worried expression. Fae suddenly let out a gentle cry of pain. "Are you ok?" Jae Won was really worried now. "My head hurts…" Fae said. Suddenly she stopped. She looked up at Jae Won. "Jae Won…I…I think that…I remembered some things…" "Fae…" Jae Won said as he looked at her. "I was running through here…with Clouds behind me…because I saw her with Hanna…" Fae said slowly. The memories were slowly coming back to her. Jae Won nodded. "And I…I was your…girlfriend right?" Jae Won smiled and nodded happily. His love came back to him. *********************************************** The cliff that Fae fell down in…That was the thought that went through Celeste's mind as she looked at the place that she, Kang Ta, and Sharon had reached because Rain was right behind them. "You people wouldn't be as lucky as that girl," Rain said with a evil grin. "That girl was the only exception." Celeste looked coldly at him. "You think that you would be able to kill me?" Celeste said. "We'll never know that until we try," Rain said as he started to attack Celeste. The rest of his people were after the other people so Kang Ta and Sharon could only stand by the side and look at them. Rain wasn't able to get the upper hand but he was able to hit Celeste a few times. After a while, the stood a distance away from another. They had fought for over a good half an hour already. Rain suddenly went into his pocket and got a knife out. "Are you going to fight like that?" Celeste asked calmly. Not that she wasn't use to fighting with bare hands with someone with a weapon…but her injury…Kang Ta looked at her and immediately know what happened… *********************************************** Chapter 41 "What are you doing, Kang Ta oppa?" Celeste asked as she walked up behind him in the kitchen. "Nothing much…Just looking for something to eat. Do you want to eat anything?" Kang Ta asked as he looked at Celeste and opened the refrigerator. Celeste suddenly pushed Kang Ta aside and the knife that was placed on top of the refrigerator fell on Celeste's arm instead and made a deep cut into the flesh that the bone was close to be seen. Celeste grimaced and held on to her hand. Kang Ta looked at the cut with shock. If it wasn't for her hand…It could have fell on him… "Are you ok?" Celeste nodded gently. "You shouldn't have done that. I was the one that was suppose to be hurt." Kang Ta said as he studied the looks on her face. Celeste shook her head. "It's ok. I don't want you to get hurt, Kang Ta oppa," Celeste said as she grimaced by the pain that was caused by the deep cut. "Let's go out and I'll help you bandage it." "Ok," Celeste said with a gentle smile. Kang Ta then held on to her arm and led her out of the kitchen into the living room. *********************************************** He had known that she was pretending to be blind and there was a possibility of her being the killer. How did she know about Christina and Sung Mi not being in the house when she walked into the house the other day? How was she so certain? In fact, he was pretty sure at that time that she was the killer… Especially when he made the phone call to Yu Mee… *********************************************** (chilhyun1979: How many of you actually remember this little seemingly unimportant part of my fic?^^) "Hello?" Kang Ta said into his cell phone. "Hello?" Yu Mee said from the other side of the phone. "This is Kang Ta…I want to ask you something, Yu Mee," Kang Ta said. "Sure! Go ahead! What is it Kang Ta oppa?" Yu Mee asked. "Where did you go with Celeste today?" Kang Ta asked casually as if nothing happened. "No where. I didn't go see her today because she said that you would be taking her out," Yu Mee answered. "Ok…Thanks," Kang Ta answered. "Wait. You didn't take her out today?" Yu Mee asked. "I was just kidding. Don't mind me," Kang Ta answered. "Oh ok," Yu Mee said with a laugh from the other end. "Then, see you!" The other side of the phone then hung up. "Bye," Kang Ta said as he hung up the phone. There was a slight sense of smile on his face. *********************************************** *back to reality* When Rain was about to attack, something from behind him suddenly hit him hard. He fell to the floor and landed near the edge of the cliff. Celeste looked at Kang Ta…who had helped her…with his life… "Why did you do that?" Celeste asked. Shouldn't he wish that she was dead after all of these things that had happened? "If it wasn't for you, I would have been dead when the knife fell down," Kang Ta answered as he studied Celeste expression. "So…that means that that was to pay me back, right?" Celeste asked with a bitter smile. "You never had to pay me back. I did everything on my own will. I never regret what I did. Or is it that you are just doing this so that you don't owe me anything after this?" Kang Ta looked away. He was speechless because he didn't know if what Celeste had just said was true or not. Celeste looked at him and smiled. She knew what he was thinking already. Suddenly, they heard someone laughing. It was Rain. She then turned around and looked at Rain with her original cold face. "You are so pathetic, Clouds. Just pathetic," Rain said as he laughed hysterically. "What are you talking about?" Celeste asked coldly. "You loved two men that never loved you back. You would never have someone love you, Clouds. The day that were added to the team, the line that connected to love was over! You should have known that! But you were pathetic enough to go and try to find true love in him!" Rain said as he pointed at Kang Ta. "He's your victim!" "It's none of your business," Celeste said. Her heart was breaking at this point but she didn't show any sign of it. "They should have never given you the position…You betrayed the master of the team," Rain said as he made his attack again. They fought for another few minutes and finally, Celeste gained the upper hand. Rain was knocked down the floor by Celeste. Rain glared at Celeste from the floor. Celeste looked at him and walked slowly up to him. "I'm not going to die in your hands, Clouds…Never! Don't even think about it. Not even you! You! You can't do anything to me! In all ways that I die, I would not die in your hands!" Rain said. He looked at the knife that was in his hand and then looked back at Celeste. He threw the knife at Celeste. Of course, after so many years of training with Celeste and being on the same team, he knew that Celeste would easily duck away from the knife but… *********************************************** Chapter 42 Rain threw the knife at Celeste. Of course he knew that Celeste would duck away from the knife but he used that as a distraction and threw out some needles toward her before he jumped down the cliff behind him. Celeste managed to duck a few of the needles but some of them got into her legs. After he jumped down, Celeste fell to the floor. Kang Ta went over and held her before she hit the floor. "Celeste?" Kang Ta called gently. "Kang Ta…" Celeste said as she looked at Kang Ta. "The needles had poison in them." "I'll take you to the hospital," Kang Ta said. Celeste shook her head. "They would need at least a few months before they could get all the poison cleared out…I'm not going to go to jail," Celeste answered. "The cure for it is gone…Only the master of the team knows the true cure for it…" "But…" Kang Ta started. Celeste stopped him. "You know that I love you right?" Celeste asked with tears in her eyes. Kang Ta looked at her and didn't know what to say. Celeste sighed. "I really did fell in love with you…I thought that I liked you because of your resemblance to Alex…I was different than you in this part, Kang Ta oppa…I really did fall in love with you because of you…" Kang Ta looked at her and the tears started to come to his eyes as the sound of people running to their direction could be heard. Celeste looked toward the direction that the people were coming from and then took one look at her twin sister. "Take care of Sharon." She then pushed Kang Ta aside and ran over to the edge of the cliff. Her fate…was always like this…besides…some kind of revenge…she made Fae jump off here…now…it's her turn… "No!" Kang Ta yelled out as Celeste jumped off the cliff. Rain…Fae…the people that she made jump off…It was time that she paid back to them… As she fell down the cliff…the memories… *********************************************** "Who am I?" Celeste asked the master of the team. She was at that time five years old but the power and confidence made people feel that she was older than her true age. "You are Clouds," the master of the team said to her. "No. I don't mean in the team. I mean my true identity," Celeste said. "Killers do not need identities," the master of the team said. "But since I raised you, your past is on the pendant that your mother gave you before I took you from the hospital." *********************************************** She looked at the pendant. Celeste Chang. The pendant was old but the carvings were new, at least compared to the pendant. Is that who she was? Celeste Chang? She was determined to find out more about herself… *********************************************** "Oppa! Are you going to come over already?" little Hae Jin said at the time in the park. "Later," Woo Hyuk said. "Why?" Sharon asked. "You said that you'll take a picture with us!" Hae Jin complained. "Yeah!" Sharon backed her dongseng up. "Ok, ok," Woo Hyuk said with a little annoyance in his voice. He just couldn't stand his two dongseng sometimes. Although deep in his heart, he knew that he really loved his two dongseng and would never allow anyone to hurt them. It should have been three dongseng, Celeste thought as she looked at her three brother and sisters take a picture….It was just that one of them was wiped out…by fate… *********************************************** "Training! You have to train more than the rest of the people in the team! You are going to be the best on the team! I don't allow you to do those nonsense things! From now on, except for sleeping and eating, all you could do is train!" the master of the team said to Celeste. *********************************************** "Celeste…" Sharon whispered as she looked at the space that Celeste had previously occupied before she jumped down. "Unnie…" Kang Ta held on to her and helped her get up. The rest of the people had reached the cliff now. Kang Ta looked at the rest of the people. "The people who came with Rain were captured," Shin Ji said. Kang Ta nodded. Shin Ji looked around. "What about…Celeste and Rain?" "They both jumped down," Kang Ta said as he looked at Sharon who was still looking down the cliff in shock. Shin Ji nodded. "Maybe it was the best for her," Shin Ji said. "We got a hold of the schedule that the killers were to follow when they were being trained…It was more harsh than any training that we have ever saw…" Kang Ta sighed. "No wonder she said that we'll never understand," Tony said. "It's sad sometimes, if you think about it," Audrey added. "I mean, look at the things that she had to go through." The rest of the people nodded. *********************************************** Hee Jun's house. Some people were taking care of the injuries that they have got from the fights with the people from Messengers of Death. Thank God that they all learned a little to protect themselves. "Shin Ji?" Brian called out. Shin Ji turned around and looked at him. Brian looked at her for a second and then walked over. "Um…Did you get hurt when I pushed you down at the graveyard?" Shin Ji looked at him and smiled. "No," Shin Ji answered. Brian nodded. "Then…um…I'll go back inside…" Brian said as he made a turn to leave. Shin Ji suddenly kissed him on his cheeks. Brian just stood there for a few seconds before he came back. "Thanks," Shin Ji said with a smile as she walked into the room that the people were in with Brian looking after her. *********************************************** "Christina?" Hee Jun asked her as she helped Hee Jun put the medicine on his injury. Christina nodded. "Yes?" Christina asked. "Are…are we friends?" Hee Jun asked. "Of course!" Christina answered almost immediately. Hee Jun thought that he was about to faint at that point. He was worrying for this girl who only thought of him as her friend. That did it. She never liked him more than just a friend. "Ok," Hee Jun said as she forced a smile out. "I just had to make sure…So…Friends forever?" "Of course!" Christina answered as she smiled back. (chilhyun1979: Hm…I wonder why this part sound so familiar…^^) *********************************************** "You are so stupid Christina!" Audrey yelled at her. "Why didn't you just tell him that you liked him more?" "Uh huh. And what would he think if he didn't think of it that way?" Christina asked solemnly. "Big deal. You could have just said that you were joking," Fae said. Christina just looked straight ahead of her. Sharon went in front of her and looked in her face. "Don't let anything get out of your hand when you have the chance to catch it. At least try. Falling might hurt but we learn from it and grow from it," Sharon said. Christina looked at her and then slowly nodded. "Then what are you waiting for! Go look for him!" Fae exclaimed. *********************************************** "What are you crazy Hee Jun hyung!?" Tony yelled. (chilhyun1979: haha…see the resemblance between these two lovebirds? No offense to anyone^^). "Why didn't you just tell her that you liked her?" Eric asked. Hee Jun looked at them. "I told Kim that already hehe…" The boys looked at him with an approving look. Suddenly, Eric's cell phone rang. "Hello? Kim…Yeah…I miss you soooooo much…" He then left the group, leaving the boys looking at him with a weird look. "Don't be like me, Hee Jun hyung," Dong Wan said. "Now…I can't see her anymore…" Min Woo patted his shoulders. "I say that you go look for her," Jae Won said. "What if she says that she doesn't like me?" Hee Jun asked. "You're a male, hyung," Tony said as he rolled his eyes. "What could you lose?" *********************************************** "Hi…" Christina and Hee Jun said at the same time. They attempted to just come out and just pretend that they had looked for the other one, but they suddenly met at the restaurant that they were attacked the other day. "How…how were you the time that you were captured by Celeste?" Hee Jun asked slowly. "Not that bad. She didn't really torture us," Christina said with a laugh. Hee Jun nodded. "Do…do you want to go eat something with me? It's almost time for dinner…" Hee Jun said. Christina nodded. While they were walking, Hee Jun suddenly held on to Christina's hand. Christina looked up and found him looking at her. She first blushed and lowered her head but she let him hold on to her head. *********************************************** Epilogue "You know what?" Sharon asked Kang Ta as they stood at the edge of the cliff that Celeste had jumped down the other day. Kang Ta looked at her attentively. "Although I never spent too much time with Celeste, I know that I would never forget her. "Neither would I," Kang Ta said. Sharon looked at him. Kang Ta smiled at her. "She made me understand that nothing could replace you." Sharon looked away. "She seems to be still around," Sharon said. "As if she never went away. Do you think that we'll see her again?" Kang Ta shook his head. "I don't know…Maybe we will…" END ********************************* |
