**Denial Five year-old Hae Ri just jumped around outside in front of her house playing when she noticed a big whit truck pull into the driveway of the empty house next door. As soon as the car stopped, a bunch of men walked out of the car and started to move a bunch of furniture into the house. Hae Ri got curious so she walked over to the house quickly to see what was happening. Hae Ri was watching the men quietly when somebody grabbed her and turned her around. "What do you think you're doing?!?!" A boy yelled angrily at her. "I...I..I just got...kinda curious..and I just wanted to see..what was happening." Hae ri stuttered. Hae Ri was afraid that the boy might hit her or something. "Can't you see that we're moving in?!?! Duh...are you that stupid?!?!" "I...I'm..sorry..." Hae Ri quickly said and ran into her house crying. Hae Ri cried and cried in her room until her mom walked in. "What's wrong sweetie??" "This...this...b.." Hae Ri was about to answer when the doorbell rang. Hae Ri's mom quickly went to open the door and Hae Ri slowly followed. Hae Ri's mother opened the door and there stood a lady and the "mean" boy. "Oh, hello there." Hae Ri's mother said politely. "Hello. We just moved in next door and I thought I'd come by with my son to introduce ourselves." "Oh, how nice of you. Come in please." The lady, the boy, Hae Ri's mother, and Hae Ri all headed to the living room. "Well, welcome to your new neighborhood. I'm Jin Hee Lee and this is my daughter Hae Ri Lee." "Oh, what a cute little girl. Well, I'm Na Ri Mun and this is my son Eric Mun. How old is your daughter." "She just turned five." "I see. Well, my son is eight so I guess he's oppa to you little Hae Ri." Mrs. Mun said kindly. The two mothers made the two kids go play upstairs while they go to know each other. Eric and Hae Ri didn't say a word to each other and they sat far away from each other as they could. After a couple of hours later, Mrs. Mun and Eric finally left. "So Hae Ri, did you have fun time with Eric oppa??" Mrs. Lee asked. "No. He's a big meanie and I don't like him." Hae Ri said poutingly. "Honey, I'd really appreciate it if you would try to be nice to Eric." "Why??" "Dear, he has a lot of things going on right now. His father recently died in a terrible car accident and his mother got remarried and the new marriage has really gotten to Eric." "So Eric oppa lost his daddy?? Awww...poor Eric oppa. Don't worry mommy, I'll be REALLY nice to him always." Hae Ri said with a smile. *16 Years later* Hae Ri was now 21 and Eric was 24 years-old. Eric and Hae Ri had continued to be neighbors and just like Hae Ri had promised 16 years ago, she was always nice to Eric. Hae Ri wasn't just nice to Eric, she fell in love with him but she never dared to say anything in front of him. "Oppa!! Where are you going so late??" Hae Ri asked cheerfully as she saw Eric outside. "None of your business." Eric said coldly and just drove away. Although Hae Ri and Eric had known each other for years now, he refused to open up to her and he was always especially cold to her. After hearing Eric's cold response, Hae Ri just sadly walked back into her house. '*sigh* Why does he alwayz have to be so cold?? He's always so mean to me...does he really hate me that much?? Ugh...give it up Hae Ri...he just doesn't like you period.' Hae Ri's depressing thoughts were interrupted when the phone rang. "Hello??" "Hae Ri yah!! Guess who??" "Julie unnie??" Hae Ri asked happily. "Yeah, ey, do you wanna go watch a movie??" "Right now??" "Ummm...I dunno." "You're parents home, are they??" "Ummm...no but..." "Great. I'll meet you at the theater in like 20 minutes." Julie said and hung up before Hae Ri could refuse. Hae Ri left a note for her parents and slwoly began to walk to the theater. The theater was really close, she decided to just walk instead of taking the car. Once she reached the theater, Julie was already there. "Unnie!!" Hae Ri yelled happily. "Finally!! The movie already started let's go!!" Julie yelled as she dragged Hae Ri in. The movie ended and Julie and Hae Ri walked out of the room when Julie's pager went off. "Oh, man!!! Ey, I gotta go. Is it ok??" "Yeah, I'm ok." "Are you sure??" "Hehehe...yes...go!!!" Hae Ri said as she pushed Julie into the car. After Julie left, Hae Ri slowly headed towars home thinking about Eric. 'Oppa...why do you hate me so much?? What did I ever do?? I try so hard to be nice to you and always be there for you but you keep pushing me aw..' Hae Ri's thought were broken by a guy's voice. "Hey there, wanna get lucky tonight??" The drunk man asked. "I'm...I'm...sorry...I have to go." Hae Ri stuttered and she was about to run but the man grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's just have a little fun." The man said pulling Hae Ri closer to him. "No!!! Please let me go!!! Help!!!" Hae Ri yelled with tears streaming down her face now. "Let her go you bastard!!!!" Somebody yelled and then punched the man right in the face. Hae Ri fell to the floor and cried uncontrolobly. The drunk man ran away and the person that rescued her got down next to Hae Ri and pulled her into his arms. "No!!! Please let me go!!" Hae Ri yelled thinking it was the drunk man. "Shhh....Hae Ri yah, it's me Eric oppa." Eric whispered while holding onto Hae Ri tightly. Hae Ri slowly lifted her and looked at Eric. "Oppa..." Hae Ri cried as she buried her head into his chest. "It's ok...shhh...everything's ok now....he's gone..." Eric said trying to comfort Hae Ri. Soon Hae Ri stopped crying and slowly began to fall asleep in Eric's arms. Since their house wasn't that far away, Eric picked her up and decided to carry her home. Once he reacher her house, he walked in and headed to her room. There, he gently layed her down on her bed and just sat there looking at her. Eric then gently reached over and brushed off some hair from Hae Ri's face then suddenly he pulled his hand back. 'What the heck?? What are you doing?? Why...why..am I even still here?? Why do I have this weird feeling....why do I always get this strange feeling when I'm around her...and tonight...when I saw that guy trying to hurt Hae Ri...I just blew....all this weird feelings...does it mean that I l...love...her?? NO!!! You stupid Eric Mun!!! You don't love her....she's nothing to you!!!!' Eric said trying to ignore his feelings and quickly ran out of the house. *A week later* "Oppa." Hae Ri whispered as she saw Eric sneaking out the window. Suprised, Eric fell to the floor and bumped his head. "Damn it!!" Eric yelled angrily while touching his forehead. "I'm sorry oppa...I didn't mean to scare you." "You didn't scare me." Eric said trying to be all tough. When he pulled his hand away from his forehead, there was blood on his hands. "Oppa!! You're bleeding!!!" Hae Ri yelled as she quickly moved her hand to his forehead to check the cut. Eric just stood there dumbfounded and let her just check up on him. 'She's so close to me that I can smell her...she smells nice and feels so warm...I just want to grab her and hold her in my arms and then ki...what the?!?! What am I thinking?!?!' Eric quickly pushed Hae Ri away from him. "I'm fine so go away." Eric said and headed for his car. "Oppa, where are you going?? It's late." Hae Ri said worried. "I'm just going for a ride. Go back in." Eric said coldly. "No, I wanna go with you." "No way, just go back inside." "Fine but since you're not gonna take me with you....I'll just go to Mrs. Mun and see how she's doing." Hae Ri said and slowly turned around. "Ugh!!! Shut up and get in!!" Eric said angrily as he got into the car. "Ok." Hae Ri said happily and got in. Eric drove out and just headed nowhere in particular. Eric stopped the car when the light turn red and another car pulled up beside them. "Hey there baby!! Wanna get hooked up with me and have some fun tonight??" They driver of the other car asked Hae Ri. "Huh?? I...uh...I..." Hae Ri didn't know what to say. "Get lost you $&*&%$#@*#&%$#$" Eric cussed at the driver and sped away as soon as the light turned green. "Ummm....thanks oppa." Hae Ri said. "I didn't do it for you." Eric said coldly just looking straight ahead. 'Why..why?? Why did that guy hitting on Hae Ri bug me so much?? Do I have fee...feelings for her?? No...no way!!! You're just getting paranoid.' "Oh." Hae Ri thought sadly. Eric's cold words seemed to hurt Hae Ri more and more everyday. Hae Ri was trying not to cry and turned to look out the window but ended up dropping Eric's cellphone to the back of the car. "Get it." "Ummm....ok." Hae Ri just said and reached to the back but she couldn't quite reach it. "Take off your belt and reach for it you stupid." Eric said after he noticed her having trouble reaching it. Hae Ri slowly took off her belt and reached for the phone. Then all of a sudden Eric slammed on the breaks and Hae Ri ended up flying out the front window then everything went black for both Eric and Hae Ri. *A week later* Eric groaned and slowly opened his eyes. At first all he could see was white and then he saw his mom by the bed. "Mom??" Eric whispered. "Eric!!!! You're awake!!!! Oh thank God!!" Mrs. Mun yelled happily. "Where am I?? How long have I been out??" "You're in the hospital dear and you've been asleep for a whole week. I was so worried." "Oh, I see. I'm ok right??" "Yeah, the doctor said that you'd be able to go home as soon as you woke up. I'm so glad that you're alright now...that night when I got the phone call I was so afraid." "That night...that night...Hae Ri!!!!!! Hae Ri!!!! Mom, is Hae Ri ok??" Eric asked desperately as he just started to remember everything from that night. "Eric....honey...." Mrs. Mun started to cry uncontrollobly. "Mom....mom!!! Say something!!!" Eric could sense that something was wrong by his mother's reaction. "I'm...I'm so sorry Eric...but...she didn't make it..." After hearing those words, Eric's body went completely limp. His head started spinning and he was in complete shock. "Mom...can I...have some time alone??" Eric whispered. "Sure honey." As soon as Mrs. Mun was gone, tears streamed down Eric's face. "Hae Ri yah....you...can't be gone....you just can't be....Hae Ri yah...what am I supposed to do without you...I'm sorry I was so mean...so please come back to me...I'm so sorry...that I kept denying my feelings for you...Hae Ri yah...I love you...I love you so much...." Eric cried and cried his heart out wishing that this was all a nightmare. *A week later* Hae Ri's funueral was held a couple of days ago and Eric had completely changed. He rarely talked to anybody and just mainly kept to himself. *knock knock* "Come in." "Hi honey, how are you doing??" Mrs. Mun asked as she looked at Eric's expressionless face. "I'm fine." "Good, would you like to come down for dinner??" "I'm not hungry." "But.." "I'm sorry mom." "It's ok, just let me know if you're hungry." Mrs. Mun was about to walk out of the room when Eric stopped her. "Mom, you know what happened that night. Tell me." "Ummm....you don't remember??" "It's kind of foggy....I can't exactly remember what happened." "Well...the report said that the drunk driver had crashed into your car from behind. You weren't that badly injured because you had your seat belt on but...but..Hae Ri..she didn't and...she ended up flying out the window...and died instantly." Mrs. Mun could tell that her son wanted to be alone so she quickly left the room. Eric remembered now. He remembered everything. Eric ran out of his room and ran to the cemetary. Eric finally found Hae Ri's grave and kneeled in front of it. "Hae Ri yah...I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry...you died...you died because of me...I...I made you take off your belt...it was all my fault...I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry....I love you so much...and I killed you...and...you didn't even know how I really feel my stupid denials....Hae Ri yah...I'm so sorry....can you ever forgive me...Saranghae (I love you)" Eric cried holding onto the tombstone. *Up in heaven* Hae Ri watched down at Eric. 'Oppa...I forgive you and oppa...I love you too....but I guess it's a little too late now, huh??
