Hello! I hope you like the first chapter of my story! I'm planning on making this a long story with lots of chapters! Some of them with excessive fluffiness, some with excessive violenceness, and some with excessive tradgedy...ness... ^^ So just enjoy!!

~*~**~**~*~

Her eyes glistened, looking up to the gray mist.

No. The acid air did not make her eyes water.

It was true tears. Natural to her being.

Her lips had grown sore. Her lips felt like they were buzzing, and they felt ten times their original size. Her hair was neatly groomed back into a ponytail. Her multicolored eyes scanned the outside.

The ocean. It was a sea of freedom.

Maybe... nah...

The young, pale teenager sighed. It was all she could do to keep from bawling. It was all she could do to keep from shouting in frustration from the misery, the -mystery- that was buried under the land she walked on. It was all she could do from abusing herself.

-Just whistle...-

We promised each other, she thought. We had promised each other, that no matter what... we'd come running... no matter -what...-

Come to me...

Putting her fingers to her lips, she whistled. A whistle that had grown so strong in the past two years. It was known to be heard across the sea.

-What about the Farplane?-

Those were the young summoner's thoughts.

Summoner? No. Not anymore. She couldn't call up aeons with the help of the fayth. Now that Sin was gone... that was impossible to do.

Her gentle touch soared through the rusted air.

What was she doing here?

I should go home, she said to herself.

Taking one last look out into the green sea, she turned herself around slowly, and headed up the cluttered beach.

She remembered... only a year ago she was able to come to this beach in her bare feet. The air was fresh, the water was clean... the sand... it was clear. She reminisced how the sand felt. How sometimes it would be scalding hot, and she would be forced to run to the ocean current, to keep her delicate feet cool. Or how sometimes the sand was just right... how it felt between her toes... how it made her feel secure, and safe.

But those days were over...

The likely hood of heading back was slim.

Unless -someone- or -something- came to cease this... some sort of -miracle-... it would not stop. Destruction was still continuing throughout Spira... and this time... there was nothing she could do.

-Nothing.-

What was that fight for? The battle that ridded Spira of Sin forever! In vain?! If only she had second thoughts... if only she knew of this day... when destruction would return. When Spira was swallowed in that hole of darkness once again. If she had knew of this day before the defeating of Sin... if she only -knew- that no matter what she did back then... Spira would always suffer... somehow... in someway . Then...

-He- would've still been here today...
She kicked herself thousands of times for that awful, regretful mistake. Yes... Sin would still be... but then... so wouldn't -he..-.

She'd be cradled in his arms right now... warm and secure. It wouldn't matter of their surroundings. Nothing would matter. As long as they were together, who would care? By then, she would've realized that there was no hope for Spira, and that there was nothing more she could do.

-Of course...-

Of -course- she wanted--more than anything--for Spira and it's people to be happy and carefree. That's all she ever wanted. Ever since her father went into battle. She had dreamed of becoming a summoner and defeating Sin... dying for the people... even if only for a temporary calm. But this... this power was much too great for anyone.

And as her thoughts raced through her mind, right now... in secret underground chambers only summoners and legendary guardians to the summoners, knew about... Crusaders and mages were strengthening themselves. Trying to make themselves just as strong as the terrible destruction... so they could war with it... and defeat it.

There was still hope.

So, Yuna... she smiled and continued to return to her hometown in Besaid.

~

"Yuna!" She heard her name.. . Yuna slightly turned her head to see who was calling her. From the voice, she knew it was a female's. It was a deep tinted kind of voice, and Yuna recognized it anyway before even looking.

"Yuna! There you are..." It was one of her past guardians... and friend, Lulu. "Yes." Yuna replied, slightly bowing. "Big news, ya?!" Another past guardian, and friend, Wakka butted in. Yuna didn't even see him coming. She looked up, and bam! There he was...

"What is it?" Yuna asked. Wakka was about to explain, but Lulu quickly interrupted before words jolted from his mouth. "Lord Maester Windel has announced that every town smaller than Luca will be demolished!" Lulu explained. Lord Maester Windel was the new destruction of Spira... he was voted as Maester, and defied everyone... "Yeah! By next week!" Wakka added. "Where did you hear this?" Yuna asked anxiously. "It's all over! The papers, and news reporters!" Wakka explained.

Yuna felt tears swell in her eyes.

That would mean almost every town in Spira was to be demolished. It was horrible. Yuna had grown up in Besaid... with all of her friends--no-- family...

"Did he give a reason?" Yuna asked, searching for any explanation as to why the Maester would do such a thing. "He explains that he 'needs the space' for certain 'things'." Lulu explained, putting her hands on her hips. She then sighed. "I can't believe we voted for such a jerk..." Wakka whispered. If anyone that hadn't had a good relationship with Wakka had heard that, and it got to Windel, Wakka would surely be put to execution. "Shh!" Yuna responded.

Hesitation was present.

"It wasn't our faults, Wakka..." Lulu began. "Yes... remember how Windel acted... and promised... He was so sincere about everything he put into words! It couldn't be helped that he winded up being the new Maester of Spira." Yuna explained, sighing.

She began to think... why didn't she see it? Why didn't she see right through the false promises? It was confusing, and for a year, Yuna kept trying to figure it out. She then thought of all these people who were being made into martyrs. All these people who believed in New Yevon and atheists... they were all being executed for their beliefs. It was awful. Yuna had to betray her beliefs because of this.

Windel had believed in the Old Yevon. It was said that almost everyday Windel would attempt to resurrect Yu Yevon. To bring Sin back to Spira. He believed that death was everything. Yuna sometimes pondered on whether Lord Maester Windel was actually alive. She thought of the Guado and the schemes they'd gotten away with for a thousand years.

But... maybe that was a good thing for Yu Yevon to return? Then... the fayth would return to dream... and...

No.

That was impossible. All she was thinking about was herself and her desires. But what could she do now? This indestructible human being could not be stopped, and was killing the citizens of Spira. Yuna hadn't the power to stop him, nor did anyone else.

Would there ever be salvation?

"What... can... we do?" Yuna asked. "I say we get to Luca, and quick!" Wakka put a thumb up. "But I cannot just leave Besaid!" Yuna protested. "That's not an option!" Lulu snapped. "B-but..." Yuna wanted to say something. -Anything-. Anything that would prevent them from moving to Luca... anything to prevent the destruction of Besaid... hell, -all- of Spira. But there were no words to express what she wanted to express. There were no words that could -prevent- anything...

Yuna felt the tears sting at the corners of her eyes, but held them back. Surely they were noticeable. Lulu sighed, and wrapped an arm around Yuna for comfort. "It will be all right... soon this will end. And when that day comes, we will rebuild everything again. Everything will look exactly the same... that's a promise." Lulu said. Yuna just laid her head on Lulu's shoulder and replied, "You can't promise that." Wakka quickly replied, "Yeah, we could be execu-" "Shh!" Lulu quickly interrupted before he finished. She obviously didn't want to get Yuna upset. But it was too late... she already was. And she didn't know if she could sink any lower.

"We need to leave tonight, Yuna..." Lulu whispered, reluctantly speaking those words. Yuna nodded. She then lifted her head from Lulu's shoulder. She looked at the hut where she lived, and said, "I think I will go pack my things, now..." Lulu looked sympathetically at her and slightly nodded. Yuna sighed, and took her steps to the hut. "You don't get too down now, ya?! You still got us!" Wakka smiled. Yuna looked at him. She could see through that fake modeled smile. Behind that smile was hope, fright, and dependence. "Hmph..." Yuna murmured quietly to herself, and stepped inside.

That comment had only made her feel -worse...-
