Yes, another chapter, and another ahead! Whoo! ~*~**~**~*~
So the story was out, and she had gotten every bit of it.
"Please don't go." Yuna whispered quietly. She wasn't even sure that he had heard her. She looked up, and noticed his gaze meeting hers. Her face was full of worry and fear, and it made Tidus wonder if he should've told her all that at a time like this.
"Um... maybe I shouldn't of told you that just yet?" He scratched the back of his head. Yuna just shook her head. "No. I'm glad you did. I'm glad you told me as soon as you could." Yes, Yuna thought. It was better that he had told her now, so that she could find a way to keep him by her side.
"What... will happen to you, when you must go back?" Yuna asked, facing forward. Tidus shook his head. "I don't know." She hoped that he wouldn't just disappear. She hoped there was a way to prevent him from leaving her again. She had plenty of time right now to think things through a bit.
"For the past two years... I've stood... on the shore of the sea... whistling." Yuna said, lowering her gaze to the floor. Tidus didn't move. He was barely breathing. He wanted to hear what she had to say, although his heart was breaking by her words already.
"I had faith you would come back." Yuna's voice rose a notch, and it shook as she spoke that last sentence. "But... it's not how I pictured it. I planned on us staying together forever. I believed that some sort of miracle would happen somehow..." Yuna began, lowering her voice again to it's normal tone, her words spoken clearly now. "And when you removed your helmet just a few moments ago... I almost knew that my wish had come true. That you were going to stay with me now and forever. I thought... I... I... I don't know." She lowered her head letting the silent tears fall.
Tidus crouched in front of her as she sat on the bed. Yuna covered her face with both of her hands, and began to sob loudly. She tried her best to muffle her cries with the palms of her hands as her body shook helplessly. Tidus gently took both of her hands in his and placed them on each of his cheeks. Yuna quieted herself, trying hard not to cry too loudly, for she didn't want to wake others in the hotel. Yuna looked at her love. She could almost sense how hurt he was. It only made her want to cry more.
Why did I have to rub it in, she asked herself.
"Shh..." Tidus whispered. He looked into her watery eyes, and forced a smile to cheer her up. "Please stay." Yuna said once more. "Yuna, please... I want to stay with you. I want to be with you forever. But I can't. I'm not even supposed to be here right now. I was ordered to avoid you..." Tidus told her. "No! You are supposed to be here! You are!" Yuna cried, and pulled his head to her chest, hugging him around his head. She buried her face into his silky blonde hair, and cried.
Tidus closed his eyes, letting his head rest upon her breasts. He felt her heart pumping hard against her chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and breathed in deep.
Yuna loved the sensation of his hair brushing against her olive skin. She would have loved to stay this way forever, if only that were possible.
After a few moments, Yuna repeated herself. "You can stay. You can't avoid me. I won't let you." Yuna said, lifting her head from his. He lifted his head and looked up at her. "No... don't do that. Please. Yuna, I'm only doing this for your safety. I want nothing other than to ensure your safety. That's why I volunteered to take on this task. To see you again, even if for a little while, and to keep you safe. I have to make sure that this job is done right." Tidus placed his hand on her cheek, and tucked her light ash brown hair behind her ear. "I understand... but..." At first Yuna didn't know how to finish. She lowered her head and closed her eyes.
Suddenly, her gaze met his again. She looked anxious now. "Let me help you!" She smiled. "Yuna, no. How can I keep you safe, then?" He asked. She took one of his hands in both of her hands. "I trust you. Won't you be my guardian?" Yuna asked. Tidus thought for a moment. "No, Yuna... I'm sorry." He refused. He wouldn't let her come with him. He wasn't even sure what was going to happen to him. "Please! Everyone can help! Please! So we can be together as much as possible!" She squeezed his hand. Tidus lowered his gaze to the ground, thinking. "Please? I just want to be with you." Yuna explained. Tidus slightly nodded. "I know." He replied.
After a few seconds he lifted his head. "Yuna... please don't put all of your trust in me. Although I'll do anything and everything I possibly can to protect you... I... I could... well... and then... you know. I wouldn't be there for you anymore." He said. "Don't say that! Because... I know that won't happen. I've gained more independance since you disappeared. I can take care of myself, too." Yuna explained. "I know you can. You proved that two years ago remember?" He grinned tilting his head to one side. Yuna slightly smiled. "But, really... I believe we can both make it through this." Yuna explained. Tidus shook his head. "Yuna, I've had no experience whatsoever with this Maester Widel guy." "Have we had any experience with the first fiends we encountered?" Yuna asked. "No, but Lulu and Wakka did!" He quickly replied. Yuna was lost at words. What could convince him to let her come along?
"Why won't you just let me come with you?! Just let me prove my strength!" Yuna said, desperate to get his approval. Tidus breathed in deep. "Yuna..." "Please..." She looked at him with a seriouness in her eyes that he only remembered seeing in her determination to defeat Sin. "I can help you." Yuna said. Tidus lowered his head, and then lifted it. "All right. I want to see your battle skills first, like you said." He said. Yuna smiled and stood up.
Tidus struggled to pull himself to his feet. Yuna giggled at his clumsiness. "Ack, my feet fell asleep." He said, standing up straight. "Mine do that too, sometimes." Yuna replied with a smile. "Well, it's late." Yuna added. "Yeah." Tidus agreed. "Do... you want to get your own room, or...?" "It's okay if I stay with you, isn't it?" Tidus asked with a mischievious smile. Yuna suddenly got an innocent, but come-and-get-me smile. Tidus immediately took this as a signal to tightly wrap his arms around her and nuzzle her neck, making growling noises. Yuna laughed. Feeling his weight overcome her, she placed her hands on his sides to keep her balance.
Soon enough, Tidus's playful nuzzling turned to kisses. Yuna closed her eyes, subdued to his love he was giving to her. He was rational and patient with how he kissed her. She felt her inhibitions slipping away right between her fingers, and she felt like she was just going to go crazy. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and laid slowly back onto the bed.
Tidus kissed along her neck, to her jawline, and then on her lips. His kiss grew more passionate by the minute. Yuna sighed into his mouth happily. She'd never felt like this before, and it was a feeling she couldn't give up. She would find a way to keep him somehow, and someway...
Tidus parted their lips, and let his hand rest on her cheek. He looked into her shimmering and stunning eyes, smiling. "I love you." She stated. "I love you too." He replied. Whatever he said to her, he meant. Yuna sighed, slightly elevating her upper body, and hugging him. Tidus closed his eyes for a moment and smiled.
Tonight was perfect. As long as they were together...
