The Kotu Stream is particularly rich in Pied kingfishers. Around the Stream are rice-fields which also house a large number of birds. When the tide is low, Mangrove crabs can be seen in the mud. The Fajara Golf Course with its black 'greens' is not only good to play golf but also for bird watching. A large variety of different bird species can be seen, ranging from Plovers, Raptors, Parrots, Francolins to Owls. The golf course is rich in palm trees from which the palm wine is harvested. The Sewage Farm is the area where the hotels bring their sewage waste. It is a great area for watching the Hooded vulture, Black-winged stilts and many other birds.
