Starting from the beginning... 1st Season Ash Ketchum, a ten-year-old boy from Pallet Town, is finally old enough to go out on his Pokémon journey. The local Pokémon expert, Professor Oak, gives Ash everything a new Pokémon trainer needs: Pokéballs, a Pokédex, and his first Pokémon, which is Pikachu. Ash has two goals: to become a Pokémon master and to beat his rival, Gary Oak, who happens to be Professor Oak's grandson. In order to qualify for the Pokémon League Competition at the Indigo Plateau, Ash must collect at least eight badges from Pokémon gyms. Along the way, Ash is joined by two new friends: Brock and Misty. Ash is also trailed by the infamous Team Rocket (Jesse, James, and Meowth), who are interested only in capturing his Pikachu. Ash did succeed with collecting eight badges. He doesn't win the competition, but he does get in the top sixteen... 2nd Season When Professor Oak asks Ash to retrieve the G.S. Ball from Professor Ivy on Valencia Island, it leads Ash and Misty into a new adventure. Brock decides to stay with Professor Ivy, while Ash and Misty attempt to return to Pallet with the G.S. Ball. Thanks to Team Rocket, they end up stranded on the Orange Islands. This is where Ash hears about the Orange League, a different version of the Indigo Pokémon League. He decides to travel around the Orange Islands from gym to gym so he'll qualify for the Orange League Competition. Tracey Sketchit, a Pokémon watcher from the Orange Islands, joins Ash and Misty on their journey in hopes of meeting his idol: Professor Oak. Ash catches two new Pokémon: Lapras and Snorlax. Ash does win the Orange League Competition and is enlisted in their Hall of Fame... 3rd Season Ash, along with Misty and Tracey, returns to Pallet Town with the Orange League trophy and the G.S. Ball. To Ash and Misty's surprise, when they reach Ash's home, Brock was there to greet them! According to Mrs. Ketchum, Brock has been staying there for a while and taking over Mr. Mime's chores! Whenever Professor Ivy's name was mentioned, Brock would freak out. Ash goes to Professor Oak's lab to give him the G.S. Ball, along with Misty, Brock, and an ecstatic Tracey, who can't wait to meet Professor Oak and show him his sketches. Team Rocket makes an appearance and almost succeeds in stealing all of the Pokémon at Professor Oak's lab, until a mysterious cloaked figure saves the day with his Nidoqueen. When the figure removed his cloak, Ash was shocked to see his old rival: Gary Oak. This confrontation leads to a one-on-one Pokémon battle between Ash's Pikachu and Gary's Eevee. Gary ends up winning the Pokémon battle and leaves. Professor Oak reveals that Gary has been training very hard so he can enter the Johto League. Not wanting to lose to Gary, Ash decides to enter the Johto League as well. Professor Oak asks him to take the G.S. Ball to a Pokéball designer he woud run into while traveling through Johto. Tracey decides to stay as Professor Oak's assistant, and Brock rejoins the gang on their latest adventure... Below is a list of the 251 known Pokémon from all three seasons of Pokémon... |

PROFESSOR OAK |
Professor Oak is a well-known Pokémon researcher from Pallet Town. He helps new trainers from Pallet get started on their Pokémon journey by giving them six Pokéballs, a Pokédex, and their first Pokémon. There are normally three choices for the new trainer: Bulbasaur (a grass-type), Charmander (a fire-type), and Squirtle (a water-type). In Ash's case, he got a Pikachu (an electric-type Pokemon) from Professor Oak. |
GARY OAK |
Gary is Ash's rival, and the grandson of Professor Oak. He is always a few steps ahead of Ash, which Ash finds extremely annoying. Gary tends to be a bit too confident in his skills as a Pokémon trainer. That flaw could have led to his loss in his fourth round at the Indigo Pokémon League. Gary isn't seen at all during the Orange League season. He reappears when Ash, Misty, Brock, and Tracey pay a visit to his grandfather's lab. It turns out that ever since the Indigo Pokémon League, Gary has been training really hard so he can head out to the Johto League. |
