v      C. THE ASCENDANT

Rising sign is the starting point of the First House (located on the central left-hand portion of your natal chart). In traditional astrology the ascendant is said to define our appearance to others. In modern psychology, it represents what has been termed the persona. This mask, which we wear, serves not so much to hide who we are, but to present ourselves as an individual. Whilst it is true that ascendant describes how you appear to others, of more importance is the fact that it defines a set of qualities to which you aspire. Developing these characteristics will be a primary, yet personal goal, and will sever to help you stand forth as an individual. The ascendant also defines your approach to life. The ascendant is opposed and balanced by the sign upon the descendant. In psychological terms the descendant may represent your shadow – everything that you are not, or all that which has been left undeveloped.  In traditional astrology the descendant is meant to characterize both your “open enemies” as well as your “marriage partner” That which opposes you and that which complements you.

The ascendant/descendant axis describes one of the primary sources of tension to be found within the personality. . While the ascendant is all about being an individual; the descendant is about relating and living in context with others. To find the myth that fits your pull and axis look to the sign and planets ruling these house cusps

EXAMPLE

*        Say you have “Venus in Libra in the 10th House”. Then you will tend to express affection or intimacy (Venus) in a style which is either cooperative or perhaps even “passive aggressive” (|Libra) depending on the exact circumstances. The area of life where this energy will most often be channeled is in matters related to your cultural role or social responsibilities, i.e. Your profession (10th house issues). Using the keywords listed above and your own creativity and intuiti8on, you should be able to come up with several possible meanings for each planet/sign/house combination which you see indicated on your birth chart.

A word about NODES:

The intersection points where the orbital plane of the Moon crosses the plane of the ecliptic are the Moon's Nodes.  These points move along the ecliptic in a retrograde motion at a rate of approximately 19° per year.  Due to orbital perturbations, the position of the nodes does not move at a smooth, regular rate.  The Mean Nodes are an average approximation of the position of the nodes.  The Mean Nodes are the nodes which astrologers have used for hundreds of years.  In the 1970's some astrologers began using the instantaneous nodes for the moon's osculating orbital ellipse, which they called the True Nodes.  These osculating positions take into account the Sun's gravitational pull on the Moon.  It is rather misleading to call these instantaneous osculating positions the True Node because for much of the time the Mean Node is actually a better predictor of where the Moon will cross the ecliptic.  The difference between the Mean and True Nodes is always within two degrees.  Only the True Node can go direct. Only when you select the True Nodes will the R or D flags be appended to the node's positions.  I have read that if the True Node changes direction according to day-for-a-year secondary progression during the course of someone's life, that their life will then become more easy or more difficult.

I use the nodes to help discover your life mission. To create the life you want. The north and south nodes point to different area of influence in your potential and pattern (from past) I explain these further in all reports where it is indicated.

The planetary nodes are power points in the chart.  They relate to the unique realm of the planet involved just as the Moon's Nodes relate to the emotional, subconscious realm of the Moon.  The Heliocentric Planetary Nodes are the positions when the nodes are considered as lines of intersection between the earth's orbital plane and the planetary orbital planes which reach out to infinity.  The Geocentric Planetary Nodes are the positions when the nodes are considered to be the points where the orbit ellipse of each planet crosses the earth's extended orbital plane.  The geocentric node points may sound like the result of comparing apples and oranges; in fact, Carl Payne Tobey and his students have found the heliocentric node positions to be the effective positions (Astrology of Inner Space, chapter 23).  The Heliocentric Nodes are therefore the default in my charts and reports.

Ø        HOUSES: govern sections of your life, e.g., your money, your health, your partners, etc. They are also meaningful as to where your early interests lie and if they are worth pursuing.

Ø        SIGNS: Contribute feelings or vibrations to “color” planets, e.g. MERCURY rules GEMINI and VIRGO and emphasizes their qualities of thought, travel, health, and work JUPITER rules SAGITTARIUS and higher education, spiritual growth , and law.

Ø        ASPECTS: Are angels combining the planets in the SIGNS/HOUSES that trigger the manner in which you will be influence or can handle your qualities to advantage, e.g., MERCUTY (thought) TRINE (a good aspect to) JUPITER (education and law) may indicate that you can succeed as a counselor in legal matters.

Ø        A “strength” number precedes each ASPECT interpretation towards the end of the reading. This number synthesizes how exact is the aspect, whether the aspect is major or minor, and whether a planet in aspect is close to one of the four chart angles. The higher the “strength” The more you are likely to feel the aspect and to live it out in your life.

Ø        You are most likely to feel and act out the Report’s sign and house placement interpretations when the planets involved are strong in your chart. This is true especially of the outer planets, Jupiter through Pluto. Also available a readout calculation of the respective power and harmony for all the planets in your chart.

These astrological delineations depict your potential and how to make the most of it, or the challenges you will continue to face and how to confront and benefit from them. Though you may change through experience, your inherent characteristics will still motivate how you act and react to circumstances. How you handle yourself is really a clue to your success, and it is up to you to make the “right” choices.
