1st Seven-days Meditation Retreat of Dhammakaya Europeans Centers
IEPER,  BELGIUM

Four Dhammakaya  meditation centers in Europe welcome you to join the first seven-days retreat of the region. This project respects the teaching of Luang Po  Dhammachayo, Phra Rachabhavanavisuth, the abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya Thailand, about his emphasis on the importance of meditation. It's a way for us, as Mankind, to find the Inner Peace. From each one, his or her inner peace, we are creating World Peace together.

1. Meditation four times a day ( Early morning, morning, afternoon, evening )
2. Participation the dairy transmission Dhamma teaching from Thailand
3. Special activities such as meditation in the city peaceful park , etc.  Particularly for children, possible to have additional recreation program outside.

Advice for Participants

1. Course Profile
Those who complete the course can expect to gain:
* a basic grounding in the Dhammakaya technique of meditation;
* an understanding of Buddhist theory and practice and its relevance to
   everyday life;
* experience of simple lifestyle and self-observation;

2. Conditions
* Trainees should have a keen interest in meditation.
* Trainees must agree to follow course training guidelines being able to
   observe the eight precepts throughout the duration of the course.
   (Except children that allow to take some light food in the evening)
* Trainees must be willing to accept only two meals per day and refrain from
   other intoxicants including alcohol, drugs and tobacco, for the duration of
   the program.
* Trainees must willingly adapt themselves to the accommodation and simple
   living conditions provided.
* Trainees should be reasonably healthy and mobile.

3. What does it cost?
The meditation retreat costs 99 euros for each adult and 49 euros for each child up to 13 years.

4. What to bring
* White (or light colored) shirt/ long trousers (gentlemen) or white (or light
   colored) blouse/ long skirt/ trousers (ladies): sufficiently loose to sit
   comfortably for meditation.
* Personal items such as tracksuit top, woolen hat, soap, toothpaste,
   toothbrush, shampoo, razor, torch, towel, personal medication, a small
   amount of cash.
Meditation mats will be provided by the organizers. Simple medication is
also available, and a laundry service.

5. What to leave at home
* Any form of distracting reading material;
* Cassette players, cassettes, radios, televisions and video cameras;
* Valuables and jewelry such as rings and necklaces;
* Knives, weapons or other dangerous items;
* Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, non-medicinal drugs or alcohol.

Keeping the Eight Precepts:

Observing eight precepts to increase one's self-awareness, mindfulness and purification of speech and body.

Abstaining from:
1. taking the life of any living creature
2. taking things that are not given
3. unchastity
4. speaking falsely, abusively and maliciously
5. consuming alcohol or intoxicants
6. taking solid food after mid-day.
7. singing, playing romantic music, dancing, attending games and show, wearing cosmetic and flower-garland.
8. sleeping or resting on luxurious high seats or bed
