Dream A Little Dream ...

02/09/02 - Yes, you could call it a soiree ... But it’s more like just hanging out with friends.
The Pub is sort of like my Cheers ... A place where everybody knows your name. It’s not a pick-up bar, and nothing weird goes on there. Though any age person is welcome, there are not too many 20’s, which I happen to appreciate. The Pub is owned by a British woman, that’s why it’s called a Pub and not a bar. By day it is also a restaurant where you can get bangers and fish and chips. At night it’s a venue for local musicians, blues, classic rock. And on weekend nights, you can find me there.

A few months ago I went to the Pub for the first time, with a friend. I had always wanted to visit it and was happy I was allowed to tag along. I was looking for a place other than the coffee house to get away to. I discovered the Pub to be very amicable and was pleased to find out it was owned by a woman. That night I told myself that this might be a place I could go alone, relax, enjoy the music. But it took me a while.

A couple of months passed in which I was trying to “find myself.” Once found I realized I needed to simplify my social life. Or I should say possibly tailor make it. None of the “acceptable” forms were doing it for me. Going out with friends meant usually doing things I didn’t really enjoy. And dating was a fiasco. So, I ventured forth, went to the Pub alone several weeks ago. And, I’ve been enjoying it ever since. I can relax with wine and music and ... yea, I’ve made friends.

So, if your ever in the mood for a soiree ... think Pub. You’ll enjoy it too.
