- I had yet another happy moment on my patio. I could smell the rain in the air even before it started. I was able to sit at the picnic table under the patio cover and anticipate the drops. They came. I read to the beat of the rain. I watched the thermometer go from 76 to 60 degrees. This is the first rain since we planted the cherry tomatoes.

Work was uneventful last night. I spent my off hours putting together a new vacuum cleaner. It's not as nice as the old one. But, I seem to be going through vacuum cleaners every two years anyway, so this one will be fine. No vacuum is expected to live long on a diet of pennies, Legos and guitar picks. It works fine. I vacuumed most of the house. Then I tackled some cobwebs ... A lot of cobwebs. Then I figured I did enough.

Yes, it was a pleasant afternoon.
