- Here's a how-de-do! We seem to be taking an excursion each Wednesday ... Me and The Child. The others are invited, though usually not encouraged. The excursions are basically geared towards The Child so that he has some sort of memory provoking experiences to indulge in this summer. Today's excursion was a planned one. We were even able to spark the interest of The Kid who decided to come along. We would be going to the theater, a cultural event for sure. But, It just wasn't any theater performance. We would be seeing My Friend perform in The Mikado. The Mikado is a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta. My friend is a member of the San Francisco Lamplighters Music Theatre.

Now, I must admit that the boys weren't jumping for joy about attending. However, I had got them pretty much excited about the event and bribed them with dinner out as well. We started out mid afternoon with The Child's violin lesson. Then we headed to the train station to catch BART to San Francisco. It's only about a 45 minute trip. The boys don't ride BART that often, it's still a novelty. We got off the train a couple of blocks away from the theater. We walked around a bit, checking out the sites. We found a great place to have dinner, one we all agreed on. There was a video arcade near the restaurant. We had to make a stop there of course. I wanted to get over to the theater. It was "pay what you can" night and I wanted to get tickets as soon as they went on sale.

Well, it was sold out!! Yea, that's good ... I'm sure it was an exciting performance. But, we didn't get to see it. That's a fine how-de-do. Now what? Oh well. We were able to get a message to My Friend and meet up with him for a moment to tell him not to look for us after the performance. We wouldn't be there. We were going home. I was worried that The Kid was disappointed. He started getting upset. He wanted to go home right away. But, he was fine. He wasn't disappointed for himself, he knew I was disappointed. He said he had gone because he wanted to make me happy. So, our event was uneventful.

When I got home I did feel a little sad. I wasn't sure what I could do to amuse myself and then I got this urge to telephone Babs, my online friend. We've never met in person but we have spoken on the phone a few times. I was really looking forward to hearing her voice. The recorded message said that the telephone number was temporarily disconnected. That's another fine how-de-do!

Well, you are where you are supposed to be. I turned on my computer to write Babs an e-mail telling her about my evening and not being able to get her on the phone. I was IMed by Mr. P. The last time I had heard from Mr. P was back in March, I think. I don't even have him in my buddy list anymore. I never know when he is online. I just wait and let him pop in on me. Go figure, if my evening had gone the way it was supposed to, I would have missed Mr. P's chat. It will probably be a long time before I chat with him again.

There will be more how-de-do's and thing'em bobs and likewise neverminds ... It's cool.
