| Dream A Little Dream ... |
09/01/01 - I never saw a need for me to have kitchen curtains here ... Until yesterday. I grogily discovered four Mexicans looking at me from the roof of the neighbor's house yesterday morning. I was trying to make coffee. How does one do that with an audience? I might have been able to give a grand show, if I'd had any sort of bearings available at that moment. But, I didn't. I did continue to make the coffee. When the coffee was done, I went out on the back porch to enjoy it and discovered I was still under their gaze. Up on the roof ... If only I could have mustered up the energy to sing a chorus or two for their gazing pleasure. I couldn't remember any of the words. I was up way too early for my liking anyway. I had a doctor appointment. A routine check-up. It has been over five years since my last routine check-up. I figured since I was paying for insurance now, I might as well use it. I'm fine. I pretty much knew that. The doctor said it was normal to have gone through menopause without symptoms, even at 45 years old. She said 10-15% of women have very few or no symptoms. I don't know, but I'm thinking if it's only 10-15%, that's hardly normal. I'm almost resenting I never had a hot flash ... NOT! I went through a period where my skin itched for no reason. That only lasted a minute at a time. And I went through a bout of insomnia for a while. Those may have been symptoms. The doctor told me to add 1,000 mg of calcium to my day. It was going to be 1,250 but I told her I ate yogurt daily. When the exam was over I noticed the doctor staring at me. She didn't say a thing. I knew what she was thinking though. As much as I like hearing that I don't look my age, I think I've heard it enough. I'm glad she didn't say anything. When I got home the roofers were still there, pounding away. Sitting on the back porch wasn't an option. I decided to wash the dishes ... In front of my kitchen window. My attitude had changed. I was feeling myself again. If the window had been open, they would have heard me singing boldly ... Let me entertain you, let me make you smile!!! |
