10/04/01 - It's official ... I'm now working graveyard five days a week, starting this week. They offered Bea a new schedule and she declined. I had a feeling that was going to happen. Yesterday would have been my night off, but I didn't make any plans for it. I will miss the Wednesday nights off only because they were "family night" for me and my boys. I usually stayed home with them or took them "out" some where. Last night we had dinner out. We went to a small pizza place near us and enjoyed "all you can eat" pizza night, three of my boys and me. It was great, delicious. They bring all kinds of pizzas around and you take a piece of whichever ones you want. I tried a piece of garlic and artichoke pizza and it was really different. Everyone seemed to have a good time. The Jock's new girlfriend works there and she came and sat with us a while. I struck up a conversation with a guy who had just moved here from Massachusetts. We talked about the weather. I can't tell you how many pieces of pizza I ate. I didn't dare count them. But considering that I've lost seven pounds in the last few weeks, I didn't feel too guilty about it.
My new nights off, for now, will be Friday and Saturday. The boys are busy those nights. I don't see much of them on the weekends. Maybe I'll keep Wednesday's special anyway, it worked out OK last night. I don't start work until 11 p.m. All my evenings are free. I'm very tired today though. I'm not used to working five days in a row. I'm sort of running out of gas. It should be interesting to become a "normal" person with a whole weekend off. Two days off in a row is looking pretty good to me. I won't miss the swing shift at all. I had to shift gears for that and I was also not home in the evenings, didn't get to spend time with the boys. Change is good. Out with the old and in with the new ... and all that. |
