Dream A Little Dream ...

10/06/01 - Coronas mixed with Clamato juice? Yikes! Actually, it wasn't all that bad. Maria said it was a popular thing to do. I must hang with the wrong crowds. I never heard of it before. Maria's barbecue was delicious though. All the meats for the tacos were cooked on the grill. They grilled small onions and leaks on the grill as well. That was something different for me too, very tasty. The family atmosphere was enjoyable. There were a lot of girl children there. That's always fun for me having had all boys in my life. The girls put on a hip hop show for us grown ups. They did a dance routine to "Say My Name, Say My Name." After we watched that five or six times Maria said, "Say Good-bye, Say Good-bye" and the grownups finally had some alone time. There we sat drinking clammy Coronas and listening to Julio Iglesias singing "Crazy." No kidding.

I like Maria and Juan. They are a very cute couple. Juan told me Maria was very special to him. That was very sweet. It turns out that they met each other five years ago at a church ... They were both married (to other people) at the time. Juan's divorce is final, Maria's is almost. They plan to get married in the near future. How does that go? There are a million tales in the city ... Something like that.

Speaking of stories ... I went to the local bookstore today to snoop around. Funny, nothing really interested me. I wasn't sure what I was in the mood for. I didn't know in advance, but there was a book signing going on when I got there. It was Kevin Anderson and Brian Herbert signing their new book
Dune: House Corrino. I guess one of them is a local boy. I'm not into Dune. I just kind of gawked at them for a minute and then moved on. I did find the 2001 issue of the Best American Short Stories. I bought it to add to my 2000 issue. I like short stories. They can be strange and bizarre moments in time. I especially like when the ending leaves you hanging. You've got to use your imagination, draw your own conclusions.

Well, no use trying to get any reading done tonight though, I think I had too many Coronas ...
