11/30/01 - On the weekends, I like to get away! That's what I tell people. It's true mostly. I like to at least leave my week behind mentally, if not physically. I'm ready for my trip to Reno. Wasn't much getting ready that needed to be done. I'm pretty good to go most of the time. I hear that it's been snowing in reno. That's a nice touch.
A few weeks ago I went to Monterey, CA for the weekend. Well, I was taken there, I had a companion. It's nice to share travel adventures. However, I didn't know my companion that well and found it a little hard to concentrate on the adventure and the companion at the same time. Anyway, I'm companionless this weekend. A lone adventurer, that's not counting the bowling group I'll be with or the thousands of other Reno weekenders I will run into. I will be able to retreat to my own room if it gets to be too much. One of my dreams that I'm anticipating will come true in 2002 is to buy myself a brand new car. I would love to be able to just take off on the weekend to some not too far destination. Or even venture 40 or 50 miles and know I could return home the same day, not have to depend on others or public transportation for the return trip. I haven't another trip planned after this one. It will be winter soon. This may be it for now. But then it rained a bit during the Monterey weekend and it really didn't dampen the adventure any at all.
