FFARA-KLET
Type C ~ Spherical ~ Earth Body (Live World)
Ffara-klet is a halfway inhabitatable world. As such, it it totally overpopulated. Every inch of the planet breathes life, such that it is as if the world is one great living city. Indeed, Ffara-klet does seem to be a city, with humanoid design techniques, multi-levelled terraces, curving tunnels, and sloped streets. All the architecture is curved and devoid of corners, and the material itself is somehow organic. Many doors are four or five feet in height, and some walkways are quite narrow. Considering the ancient Rhulisti of Athas, perhaps Ffara-klet exceeds the definition of a ‘live world’.
Ffara-klet is complex and unique enough, with its labyrinthine eternity of bizarre cityscape, to be its own campaign world. Races include feral halflings, lizardmen (enhanced by the closeness of the Dark Sun), and many huge, unique and deadly monsters similar to the ‘nightmare beast’ predators of Athas. Not all of the world is urban. Some of Ffara-klet’s surface is thick jungle. Here live the kee-reen. Kee-reen are massive insectile creatures that are built like trin but are much larger and more alien. They kill and devour everything they see.
The halflings say that Ffara-klet has many layers (like an Outer Plane) that descend deep into its interior. They talk of ‘tentacle-faced brain-eaters’ (illithid) and ‘legged brain-dogs’ (intellect devourers) in the deeper levels, and suggest that the lowest level of Ffar-klet is the world’s living heart. Reverent of their planet, the halfling do not descend beyond the second or third level.
One might think Ffara-klet was made by the Rhulisti, or terraformed from another world. It does seem to respond to the halflings, but the lower layers respond to the illithids too. The appearance of mind flayers in Athasspace is unusual, and some would be quick to postulate that these creatures perhaps originated in here, or were created by the Rhulisti. If they heard this, the illithid would eat the brains of the filthy rumourmonger.
