Japanese News

To assist in my learning of Japanese and Japan in general I have been eagerly watching the Japanese News every morning.
Below are some questions I have involving the news.
If you can help me out with any of the questions on this page please e-mail Drekinn (drekinn@telpacific.com.au)
I will be truly grateful!

The answers are written in green.

Thank you to those who kindly assisted.

1. Who are these people?

A
Prime Minister
Junichiro Koizumi

B
Foreign Minister
Makiko Tanaka
I have noticed that the two people pictured above feature in most of the news headlines and have been wondering who they are.
I can tell they are both very important political figures - the man most certainly being the leader of Japan, but as yet I can't be sure.

2. What is being said in these
short video clips?

Below are some short video clips taken from the Japanese News which contain
various spoken words/phrases that I would like to know the English meaning of.
Please click the links to download the movie files.
