I only have
one word to describe this 1970 model Shelby GT 500......awesome..perhaps
the greatest Mustang ever built in my opinion.
As I mentioned
before, of the newer models, the '87 and '88s are my favorites. This
'88 is a fine example. They had the looks and the muscle to match.
I might also add that in these model years, the Mustang could easily blow
the doors off any factory Camaro Chevy had to offer. This is probably
why the tables are turned these days. These cars had 1 main weakness-
the Borg-Warner T-5 transmission which was not capable of handling the
torque these 5.0s were putting out-they broke often.
Of all the
Mustangs made, these are by far the worst. The cars made from 1974
to 1978 were slow, small, poor handling, and not really that good on gas,
but Ford is not all to blame, the gas shortages and emissions concerns
coupled with a lack of technology were the main causes
