Jukebox Blues
Daniel Moskowitz considered himself New York’s finest salesman. When he quits his job in protest over a proposed transfer, he finds that he can’t get another one without a reference. His wife convinces him to go to work for her Uncle Murray’s jukebox company in Chicago. Daniel can’t believe how easy it is to sell jukeboxes, even at the ridiculous prices his uncle is charging, and the money comes rolling in. What Daniel doesn’t know, is that Uncle Murray’s jukebox business is actually a front for a mafia protection racket. The “rental fees” Daniel is earning his commissions on, are actually extortion payoffs. He’s eventually going to have to make a choice, once he figures it all out. Set in 1960, Jukebox Blues is Daniel’s wild ride through the 1960’s underworld. Along the way, he’ll meet some very colorful characters, including Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Sam Giancana, and Attorney General Robert Kennedy. Combine that with a great jukebox inspired score, some comic gems, and plot twists aplenty, this is story with very wide appeal. |
