Germaine and I met at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, WA and have been together since September of 1997. We met at the UW Instructional Center and developed a friendship through email during our 1997 summer internships.

Germaine graduated from UW in 1998 and started medical school in Philadelphia, PA.  The long distance relationship was hard to maintain while I was in Seattle, so I moved to Philadelphia in January 1999 and transferred to Drexel University. 

We verbally got engaged in June 1999 and he officially proposed with a ring on Valentine's Day 2000.
