Here are some words from
Billy Graham about prayer:
When we should pray:
--In times of adversity, so we won't becomme faithless and unbelieving.
--In times of prosperity so we won't becomme boastful and proud.
--In times of danger so we won't become feearful and doubting.
--In times of security
so we won't become self-sufficient.
Who should pray:
--Sinners - pray to a merciful God for forrgiveness.
--Christians - pray for an out pouring of God's Spirit upon a willful, evil,
unrepentant world.
--Parents - pray that God may crown your hhome with grace and mercy.
--Children - pray for the salvation of youur parents.
--Christians, saints of God - pray that thhe dew of heaven may fall on earth's
dry thirsty ground. and that righteousness may cover the earth as the waters
cover the sea.
Let prayer be the mortar that holds your life together!

In other words, pray
always. Because, it is not your place
to assume you are responsible for your life.
It is not your place to believe that god would want you to recognize
your individuality. Your secret special
ness. Your self love. Your true nature. According to the Bible (Genesis) we were made to be kept in a
cage called the garden of Eden. We were
made as thinking, furless pets, to be doted over and loved like cute
babies. But god, in his infinite
wisdom, screwed up and gave us the ability to recognize the nature of the
universe. To think. And he hated it.
He hates it so much that ever time he has an opportunity he tries to destroy us. From great floods to sending holy war in on us. He hates us. And prayer is just another attempt at trying to control us. Pray in times of security so we won’t become self sufficient? That is evil. Billy is saying, “god doesn’t want you to be responsible for your life, oh no, god wants you to cower before him, to love him and fear him, and be emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged”. Then this so called leader of the church actually contradicts himself by saying, “Who should pray: sinners – pray to a merciful god for forgiveness” How can god be merciful if he intentionally destroy the world, create hell, and then actually called us sinners? There’s no mercy there.
And that last line he
writes about praying for righteousness, that’s utter hogwash. Who’s righteousness are we to believe? Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist,
Shinto, Wicca, Sciencetology, ad infinitum.
And though the Christian will say it’s all the same or if they are those
screw heads calling themselves the Cavalry Church, they’ll say that all other
religion is evil works of the devil, the truth is all the religions of the
world may share common threads, but the fundamental teachings are different
enough that praying for righteousness in one might make it necessary to kill
millions who have nothing to do with Billy’s idea of what righteousness
is. The bible tells you this as well,
just read Joshua, when god had the Israelites kill thousands (if not millions)
of people just because they lived in a land he promised the jews. He kills them to steal their land…thus
breaking two of his own commandments, and some how we’re suppose to be the
sinners.
Prayer is evil.
