Rebutt to Bible Verses Email 08.21.02

Reasons why our prayers seem to go unanswered:

--1.You have selfish reasons for asking. You need to care that your request is in the best interest of others in your life, or is according to God's will.  Deuteronomy 23:5

>>Deut 23:5 says, "However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you."  Here the writer of this passage is talking about a situation where Balaam was said to have 'cursed' the Israelites on their travels through the desert.  The problem is that according to another book in the bible Balaam is TOLD by god to go out and do what ever he tells him to do and when he's suppose to give a curse he instead gives a blessing.  So when the writer of Deut 23:5 says the Lord your God would not listen...he is misinformed of the what the bible said in it's earlier statement.  So, with that in mind, is this the reason why god thinks your arrogance and self absorbsion is basis for not answering prayer?  No, there is no evidence of such in this passage, and the bible verses email is completely taking this out of context.  Proving, once again, that the real purpose of the church of Yahweh is to deceive people with obscure references that have nothing to do with the point they are trying to make. -Dr. Hogwash

--2. Your request is against God's will. He has other plans - that are always better for you.  2 Corinthians 12:8,9;  Deuteronomy 3:24-27

>>2 Cor 12:8-10: 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

>>Deut: 3:24-27: 24 "O Sovereign Lord , you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do? 25 Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan-that fine hill country and Lebanon."

26 But because of you the Lord was angry with me and would not listen to me. "That is enough," the Lord said. "Do not speak to me anymore about this matter. 27 Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan.

The 2 Corinthians verse above if utter hogwash.  Strength in Weakness?  Accordingly then a car made of cardboard is better than one made of steel.  A parachute made of tissue paper better than one made of silk.  A person never courageous enough to risk his life for success better than those that do.  Besides when the idiot Paul claims his strength is coming from his weakness, isn't he saying that he is strong?  It's an oxymoron.  He is strong.  He believes in his strength, not in being weak, but in being strong over his weakness.  And again...the bible verses guy thinks that some how this has to do with not understanding god's will.

The Deut verse talks about When Moses tells the Israelites about why he's not allowed to enter into the Promised Land.  Again, the writer of Deuteronomy probably didn't realize that Moses had already explained why he wasn't allowed to enter into the Promised Land.  You see, the Israelites were thirsty and Moses complained to god, which he does throughout Exodus, Numbers and Leviticus.  And god, probably tired of hearing him whine about it, said, "Go and touch this stone with your staff".  So Moses does and water springs up from the rock.  Then, the Murdering Liar that Moses is, says, "See what I have done for you!"  God is angered by this because Moses took all the credit for what god had done, and because of this he took away Moses' E-Ticket into Canaan.  Why the writer of bible verses uses this as an example of not understanding god's will is not clear.  Maybe the writer thought that Moses was dense and didn't understand he couldn't just be an ass and get away with it. . -Dr. Hogwash

--3. You have unconfessed, repeating sin.  Sin breaks your fellowship with God.  Psalms 66:18; James 1:6,7;  1 Peter 3:7; Proverbs 28:9

I'm not even going to waste my time with this one.  Just notice one thing, all the verses that this guy used are late in the bible's history.  Nowhere in the old testament is sin repented for, unless you count all those millions of people killed.  Like those Murdered by Moses after Aaron builds them a Golden Calf.  Or the 8 that are murdered for lying about the scouting mission.  Or the 250 killed for thinking maybe God had forgotten them and needed to get rid of Moses.  Or the 14K killed after that for not understanding why the 250 were killed in the first place.  Or those murdered by poisoned meat, sent from heaven.  Or the great flood.  And on and on it goes. That is how one repents to Yahweh. -Dr. Hogwash
