   What's an EA?  An EA in as Enrolled Agent who is licensed by the Internal Revenue Service.  An EA is authorized to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.
  To become an EA you must pass a two-day test administered by the IRS which covers taxation of individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts, procedures and ethics.  Successful candidates are subjected to a rigorous background check by the Internal Revenue Servce.  EA's are required to complete72 hours of continuing professional education every 3 years to maintain their status.
