Pythagoras' theorem

Is how to work out 2 sides of a triangle without using any angles?

Pythagoras can only be used on right-angled triangles

The basic formula for working out the theorem is a2 +b2= h2

The trouble is that the formula can be quite difficult to use So instead, it's a lot better to remember these simple steps which will work every time

1. Square the known numbers

2. Add or subtract them to find the longest side; add them To find a shorter side subtract the larger side from the smaller one.

3. Square root after adding them or subtracting square Root the answer

Example "Find the missing side"

if the longest side is 13 meters and an other 12 meters

1. Square them: 122=144, 132=169

2. Subtract 169 from 144 = 25

3. Square root 25=5

So the missing side = 5 meters

Now check to see if you answer is a sensible one
